Rating: Summary: An Awesome Read! Review: What My Mother Doesn't Know by Sonya Sones is definitely a book for teens and young adults. The moods that Sophie goes through are so true and down to life! Everyone has romances in life, but in most cases it's the first ones that you remember. It's truly amazing how all of the emotions are so strong from the first words to the last ones. Sophie's fantasy about kissing hot guys is one that many teenage girls have. This book really focuses on passion, strong emotions, and reality. I absolutely loved Sonya's metaphors though out the book. Such as, "Tears, usually I can feel them coming, feel them swirling in my chest like a swarm of angry bees." I can relate to that particular quote the most. It has happened to me many times before. Every time that I feel tears coming, my body can really sense it, almost as if it has a tear sensor or something. I loved Sonya's poem "I hate her!" Because it talks about her and her mom fighting and who doesn't fight with their mom as teenagers? When ever my mom and I fight, all that runs through my head is how much I hate her and wish for her to be gone. Then when she stays out of my life, I kind of miss her. I like how Sophie has those thoughts of why she just did what she did. It's so realistic that it gave me the chills. The feeling was there the whole book. I could relate to this book almost as if it were I who wrote it! While reading it I thought about my past "loves" and how I handled the situation. It was sort of like the way Sophie did it. This book is truly charming, passionate, heart warming, realistic, and down to earth as can be!
Rating: Summary: Girls You'll LOVE it!!! Review: The book What My Mother Doesn't Know, by Sonia Sones is the best book that I've read in a long time! It had her thoughts in the hart as well in her mind. I liked it so much because I could relate to it a lot; a mother that doesn't under stand you, complicated love life, and just feeling like it's you against the world. Luckily her two closest friends are there for her every step of the way. Sophie, the main character is a spunky, extra tall teenager. Sophie has mouse brown hair and is an artist. She thinks that she has fallen in love when she dances with a masked man at a Halloween dance. She has never seen his face, and yet she is completely determined to find him. She searches a finally finds him, but there is one problem. The plot was fun, because it was like taking you right into a teenager's mind. To some people it might be a scary thing, but to most of teens it's normal. She is just trying to get through life in one piece. The setting is in Boston present day. Sophie lives in a small town near Boston, with her parents. The time is October to the end of December. the author did a realy good job, because this book made you feel you were living her experiences in Sophie's life! This book is realy awesome, and I would recomend it to any teenager! Thats why I gave it five stars. It is a realy good book and you should read it. Hope you like it! Enjoy!! Vicki
Rating: Summary: Absolutely Amazing! Review: This is by far my all-time favorite book. I can completely relate to Sophie's feelings and attitudes. By the end of the book, I found myself wishing that Robin was real! He's the perfect guy! I would recommend this book to anyone! As a matter of fact, I already have. And not one of the people that I have recommended it to has had anything bad to say about it, either!
Rating: Summary: Good book Review: This book does a very good job of expressing all of the emotions of teenage love. "What My Mother Doesn't Know" is a novel of short verses, all written by the point of view of a 14-year-old named Sophie. In the book she tells about her first 3 loves. In this coming-of-age novel, Sophie learns the difference betweeen lust and love, and also learns that you can't always trust people, even if you think you love them. The poems are really well written. This book flows; I finished it in 2 hours. Make sure when you start reading this one you have plenty of time, because you won't want to stop. I think anybody who has ever either been in love or thought they have been in love can relate to most of this book, no matter what age you are or what experiences you have had. I really suggest that anyone reads this book, whether you normally like to read or not; you'll like this book.
Rating: Summary: ~* the perfect book on the mind of a teenage girl! Review: Wow, "what my mom doesn't know" is among one of the TOP books I read recently. It tells the story of Sophie, a 15 years old girl. Through Sonya Sones, I was able to see the life and struggles of a teenage girl such as, fights with her mother, her appearances, and her love life, which I also found parts of me inside of Sophie as a 16 years old. As the story progresses, I felt as if I was living through the experiences also. It's mainly because of the format that the book is written in. Sonya Sones tells the mind and feelings of Sophie through direct, bold and honest poems. With so little words she describes the important moments clearly and perfectly but yet the words she chose were also so powerful. You would honestly have to read it yourself to understand what I really mean. I finished this book in no time, because the author really knows how to let me keep flipping onto the next page, wanting to find out what happens next. Aniways, enough said, this is a really sweet and touching story of a teenage girl whom I believe all of us would discover little pieces of ourselves from her, no matter past or future.
Rating: Summary: It's THAT Good! Review: I love books that make me feel like I am really listening to the real thoughts of a real person who I can really relate to. I totally feel that way reading 'What My Mother Doesn't Know.' This is the best book I've read since 'My Fractured Life' which is about the best book ever about how things really feel today. Just like 'My Fractured Life', 'What My Mother Doesn't Know' is like sitting up in to that time of the night where it's almost easier to call it morning and talking with someone you totally know even though you don't know them, but you can relate to everything they say as they tell you about their whole life. What other books can make you feel that way? If you totally love 'My Fractured Life' then I promise and swear that you will totally love 'What My Mother Doesn't Know'. It really is that good!
Rating: Summary: Read this in the shortest time ever Review: I had my light on all night because I was reading this book!! It is so good, like the best book I've maybe ever read. Buy this book for the weekend, you can finish it that fast. It reminded me of some other books, like An Egg on Three Sticks and A Girl in Parts.
Rating: Summary: Teenage Years Review: This book was written in a different way then most books. The author told a story in nothing but poems. The book became interesting because it was a different style of reading. Sophie is a teenage girl struggling with teenage problems. One of her problems was with the guys. She had a three guys that she was interested in. They were Dylan, Chaz, and Murphy. She does not have a good family life because her parents do not pay that much attention to her. The book tells a story about the events that happen in her life. It started out when the Sophie was a younger girl. The book led into her problems of friendship and relationships. Sophie fought with the problem of not knowing to much about her parents because they were never there for her and she had problems with that. Sophie would go to her friends with her problems that most teenager would go to their parents about. This book is a page turner.
Rating: Summary: The Best Book Ever Review: This is the only book i have ever read 50 million times in a row. from the first page to the last learing about the characters and what one in particular feels.
