Rating: Summary: Bud, Not Buddy Review: For the five star review I give the book Bud, Not Buddy, I give it a five. The reason is that it's really exciting. I think it's exciting because of all the things he goes through like getting food. I also give it a 5 because of the way it was written. He always gives flashbacks about when he was younger and when his mom was alive. I like the way this author writes. I definitely recommend this book for people who like teen fiction This book is about a 10 year old boy named Bud. He goes through a lot of things to find a family. He goes through things like going to a house and having to run always. I recommend this book to people who like teen fiction.

Rating: Summary: Bud, not Buddy Review: This book was about a boy who was looking for his father after his mother died, but found out what had happened to his mother in the past. Then, found his real family after he embarked on a long, hard adventure across the state of Michigan. The book made me learn how hard it was for a lot of people back in the 1930s, and to take the time to be thankful for what I do have. This book was great because it was a story that kept me wanting to finish reading the book. I couldn't wait find out what happened next in the book. It was so descriptive that it made me feel like I was there the whole time watching him as it happened. I thought it was so funny when Bud was locked in the shed and thought that a hornets nest was a vampire bat. Then hit it with the rake to find that it was not a bat, but a hornet nest. He then jumped out of the window and started to roll around like a dog in the grass. The bad part was that it like left you hanging at the end and wondering what happened next.
Rating: Summary: you have got to read this book!!!!!!!! Review: I think that this book was really good. I love the plot and how the story is set up. I gave it a 4 only because of how they leave you hanging in the end. But besides that, it was great! The beginning was probably my favorite part because of all the action and how he gets revenge on Todd, the Amoses spoiled son. But the end is way less exciting, but with the same amount of greatness. If you don't like exciting/funny/awesome books, then don't read this book. Because this book is all of those!
Rating: Summary: If you like jazz... Review: Bud, not Buddy is about a ten year old boy who's living in a home because he's mother died when he was six and he never met his father. He was sent to live with this family called the Amoses. There son named Todd snuck up on him in the middle of the night, he stocked a pencil up Bud nose. When Bud woke up Too said "I've never seen any one get all the way up to the "R" I just might enjoy your stay here." Bud jumps up swung at his big balloon head and when he hit Todd it sounded like a .22 rifle going off. But Bud know enough was enough so he gave up on the fight. When the Amos was about to put him in the shed, Mrs. Amos made Bud apologize to Todd. After that they put Bud in the shed and locked him in the shed. They covered the windows so he couldn't see outside. He saw some fish heads so he covered them up with a cover he found. He saw the logs piled up by the window he took his pillow and cover crawled onto of the logs. He woke up a little while later and saw. You have to read "Bud, not Buddy."If you like jazz, The Great Depression, or just like to read books you will like to read "Budd, not Buddy". It got you questioning is Herman E. Calloway? Would they send him back to the home or would he runaway? Would last all by himself if he runaway? Will Herman claim him? It'll take you on a little adventure and you'll have fun. It'll show you how a ten year old black boy lives in the Great Depression
Rating: Summary: Bud, Not Buddy review Review: Reviewer: A 12-year old reader from Youngsville, North Carolina, USA This book is the best book I have ever read. It shows people that their live is better than most people. Because some people say, "I have the worst live ever." Because before I read this book I thought I had a pretty bad live, but my mom is still alive and I know who my dad is, he lives with me and I have a home. This story shows you how bad some peoples lives are. The best part was when he found out that Herman E. Colloway was his grandpa. The funniest part was when Bud made Toddy pee in his bed that was so cool. The part I thought was weak was when he said that there was a fish head on the door of the Amos's shack that they locked him in because he started fighting with Toddy; but when Bud and Toddy fought it was cool. I think that they need to make a movie of this book because I could see it in my mind as they were telling it. You should read this book because I don't really like to read but I read this book in about four to five days. I would love to see a movie of this.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Reader on Audio Review: James Avery is the reader on this audio version of this story, and he does an outstanding job. I did not read the paperbook, but I think that some of the parts would not be as funny, unless heard on the audio tape. I listen to a lot of audio books (I'm a multitasker) and I must say that the reader has a great impact on the story. I sometimes stop listening if the reader is bad. James Avery absolutely takes you into the story, with his smooth tone, and expressive voices. Would Cosby be Cosby if you just read his material? Hardly. And Curtis is not really Curtis without Avery. It's too bad Avery didn't read his second book.
Rating: Summary: Terrific Book Review: My 11 year old daughter thoroughly enjoyed this historical fiction book. It has lessons that parents like for children to learn such as courage, hope and tenacity. She said it is the best book she's read since reading "The Wreck of the Ethie" a few years ago...it also had similar themes & was based on a dramatic true story of a Newfoundland dog rescuing people in a shipwreck. I highly recommend both books.
Rating: Summary: Summer School Reading at it's Best! Review: Our 5th/6th grade summer school class read Bud, Not Buddy during the summer session and collectively wrote a review of the book: This book was a great book about brave, Bud Caldwell. It contained adventure, sadness, comedy and bravery. It was sad at times, but also made us laugh. We liked the character's names like Steady Eddie and Doo-Doo Bug. If you like adventure, reading about Bud Caldwell's search for his father is the book for you.
Rating: Summary: exiting adventure Review: I recommend this book to people of all ages. This book is very exciting because Bud runs away from the foster home. Bud describes being on the road. "Being on the lam is a whole lot of fun". This book is also very emotional. Lefty Lewis says to Bud and his father, "I'm sure you will all be very happy together". He said that because they have just been re-united. This book is good for people of all ages because it teaches you about never giving up and holding on to his dream. In the story it showed how Bud never stopped looking for his father.
