Summary: What the genius thinks about : Bud, Not Buddy
Review: Bud, Not Buddy is a pretty good book. It is special because there are no boring or slow moving parts. I only gave it 4 stars because even though it was a good book, I could put the book down. The author had a wierd way of describing things. He put two opposites together to make a point. He made the book interesting because the setting and time were non-fiction and the story was fiction. Some of the characters were real people so it wasn't like I was reading a fairy tale. ... So overal this was a well written interesting book.

Summary: Bud, Not Buddy
Review: This book is about a ten-year-old orphan named Bud who is searching for his father, who he has never seen. Living on his own during the Great Depression, he meets his old friend Bugs. They decide to ride the rails west on a Hooverville train. Bugs makes it, but unfortunately Bud doesn't. This one event will change Bud's life, because Bud decides to walk to the next town and search for his father. After meeting new faces, Bud finds his believed-to-be-father, Herman E. Calloway, a musician. Although Mr.Calloway is not very friendly, Bud is invited to stay with him. In this book you learn how important communication is between people. Bud, Not Buddy won the Newbery Honor and the Coretta Scott King Award. I would recommend this book for forth to sixth graders because some events are hard to understand. I think this book has terrific facts on how people lived during the Great Depression. Something I particularily enjoyed about this book is how much the author described things. She used the five senses, especially the sense of smell. It was like the item was right in front of you. Is Mr. Calloway Bud's real father? Read this book to find out. Just remember to expect the unexpected. A great read for 5th and 6th graders.

Review: Book Review Bud, not Buddy, by Christopher Paul Curtis, is a book about a eleven or twelve year old orphan that is sent away to a home for the holidays. The Amos's household was a lot different from what Bud had expected it to be. There was one older son who would pick on Bud all day and all night. Bud, not Buddy's mission is to find his father who left him and his dying mother many years before. Only one simple flyer leads Bud on an amazing quest for his long lost father. This child goes on great adventures and experiences many new and exciting things. Christopher P. Curtis is a wonderful author. He is also the author of The Watsons go to Birmingham--l963 which also has won many awards, such as the Newbery Honor award and the Coretta Scott King Honor award. The suspense, excitement, and thrill make it so that Bud. not Buddy, is practically impossible to put down. The detail almost pulls you right in to the action. Through Bud's journey you follow close behind and feel like you are there watching the scene. Since the author lived in one of the settings, Flint, the description is so wonderful that you feel that you are flying over the little town and seeing exactly what you are reading. I recommend this book to everyone that enjoys excitement, thrill, and suspense.

Review: This book was not as good as I had expected it to be.The jazz setting was original and quite different but the book all in all was pretty moderate.The beginning was very good,though. Deja vu... have I read this story before?

Summary: "Bub, Not Buddy" Homework Assignment
Review: "Bud, Not Buddy" is a great book by Christopher Paul Curtis. It is an inspirational book. I couldn't put the book down until I finished it. This book is about a boy and his journey to find his father. This book was very touching. This book is about a 10 year old boy named Bud. His father left him when he was a baby. His mother died when he was 6. In my eyes he is a very brave boy. Ever since his mother died he has been living in an orphanage. The orphanage paid this foster family, the Amoses, to watch Bud. bud ran away from their houses and tried 2 jump on a train go north to meet his father, but he misses the train. Bud then decides to walk to the Grand Rapids to meet his father. While on his journey this man picks him up and takes him to his house for the night. Bud was determined that Herman E. Calloway was his father. Herman E. Calloway's band gives Bud his first two instruments. As soon as he receives them he goes to practice. I think that Christopher Paul Curtis is a good author. I also think that this book is wonderful. Curtis explains the life of a 10 year old boy during the Depression really well. Curtis has a way with words. The ending of the story was very touching. I gave this book five stars. I thought I deserved all five and more because it was a wonderful, inspirational book. This is truly a great book. You should defiantly read it sometime.

Review: "Bud, Not Buddy" is a good book for all ages. The main character of the book is Bud Caldwell. This book has many conflicts that happened to Bud and other characters in the story. The author of the book is Christopher Paul Curtis. This book is a fictional story but is based on real people. Bud Caldwell was a ten year old boy who is homeless and has no parents, except for a grandfather. In the story, Bud's mother, Angela Janet Caldwell dies when Bud is six years old. Bud has things kept with him about his mother and his grandfather, who he thought was his father. Bud then sets out to find his grandfather. As for Bud's father, the only person who knew who he is and where he is, is Bud's deceased mother. Many conflicts happen to Bud in this story. One conflict is that Bud's mother died when he was six years old, leaving no information about what ever happened. Another conflict is that Bud is homeless because he has no relatives that he knows of. The final and worse of all the conflicts is that Bud's real grandfather did not believe that he was Bud's real grandfather.All of these conflicts can actually happen to a child. Christopher Paul Curtis is the author of "Bud,Not Buddy." He won the John Newberry Medal and the Coretta Scott King Award. Mr. Curtis got a Newberry honor for his last known book "The Watsons Go to Birmingham" in 1963. Christopher wrote many other notable books in the past. His books are enjoyed by people of all ages. The book "Bud, Not Buddy" is one of the few books to earn two awards at the same time which is the Newberry and Scott King award . Bud Caldwell is the main character of the story. Conflicts, and many of them, happened to Bud. A very notable author, Christopher Paul Curtis wrote this book. People should enjoy and cherish this book.

Review: This is a story about a boy trying to find his Dad after losing his Mother. He's been living at a home for 4 years before being taken in by the Amos's. Due to problems at the Amos household, Bud runs away in search of his father. The author, Christopher Paul Curtis, tells the story as if you are inside of Bud's head sharing times of laughter and sadness. Bud, growing up during the Great Depression, is determined to find his Dad, Herman E. Calloway. Bud travels from Flint to Grand Rapids. There are a lot of problems along the way, each one bringing a lesson. This is a great story of courage.

Summary: Hooked On Bud!
Review: Bud, not Buddy quickly catapulted to the top of my all time phenomenal list. My first encounter was a silent one that transformed into giggles, chuckles and side slapping laughter. The second time around I miniaturized myself and entered the pages. My fifth grade students were hooked. There I was running around the room with my Oscar-worthy performance. Bud became a discipline technique, a hollywood film starring me as Bud and everybody else. If I needed to get my students quiet for ANYTHING, I would say, "You know, if you keep on talking, we'll miss Bud, not Buddy." Little did they know that I was probably more excited than they. They begged me, sometimes on bended knee, to read- all during the day, on the yard and in the classroom. I have never witnessed this kind of enthusiasm about any piece of literature from any man, woman or child. Read it silently, but really get your "laugh on" by reading it aloud. And by all means read it with and to a child.

Review: I realy enjoyed this book.If you like dirtbikes, youwill probably like this book. It is about a boy that is 12 years old,and he lives on a lake.The boys name is Ronnie,and he is nice,adventurouse,and enerjetic.He always wanted a motorcycle because some of his friends had them. One day Ronnie found a motorcycle at the bottom of the lake while scuba-diving with his friends. After finding a job with MR.Parker,to buy the new parts for his dirt bike,he started racing. Mr. Parker is an old blind man that use to race motorcycles. Ronnie finds that him and MR. Parker have a lot in common. They become very close friends, and Ronnie goes over to his house almost every day. This book is very exiting,dangerouse,and sad all at the same time. I would recomend this book to kids ages 12-14.

Summary: A very sad and suspensful book
Review: Bud Cadwell is on the run from his foster home to catch a train going west where he wants to find his father and have adventures. He thinks he finds his father when he sees a band play, and believes that he has finally found his home when he learns some interesting facts about his so-called father. I think this book was sad in a way, but needs to have more action in it. I would recommend this book to anybody who like lots of adventure and likes to read sad books.
