Summary: Reaching his goal isn't any problem for Bud
Review: I really liked the book because it was adventurous. Even at the very begining! Bud (the main character in this story) felt unloved, but he still continued to try and find his missing family whom he had never known. Bud made an excellent impression on me at the beginning. Bud was just as adventurous throughout the entire story.
This book is about an interesting boy looking for adventure. The witty 10 year old is off to find his family- and his destiny.
Bud is the main character and is also the most complex. He's a 10 year old dealing with the hardship of life that adults deal with. I think that he tries to act tough but he has a definite soft side. He does a lot of unbelievable and suprising things in the story. I personally like him because he was determined to do whatever it took to reach his goal.
The author of this book is very decriptive. There is some humour but it's mostly a tense, fast pace, page turning book. There are a lot of flash backs and a lot of action. The author told you a lot of information so you always knew exactly what was going on.
The message of the story was: If you want something really bad, and if it important enough to you- go for it! Don't hold back in reaching your goal. You should work hard for what you want and the reward is then great.
I would recommend this book to readers at least 10 years of age because the book the book is complex and complicated- but it is well worth the time!

Summary: A jouney for a new life
Review: The book Bud, Not Buddy ,that was written by Christopher Paul Curtis, was a very good book in my opinion. I liked this book because it was very realistic and interesting. This book is a fiction book. Bud, Not Buddy was about a boy who lived with his mother because his father left when he was little. Bud's mother got sick and passed away and he was sent to a an orphanage. Bud was put with a new family and hated it. So Bud leaves this new family to find his father. Bud always had his suitcase with him and inside it was something his mother always looked at. It was a picture of a band and he knew that Herman E. Callaway from the band was his father. So he set of on a journey to find him. I give this book four stars.

Summary: Bud not Buddy
Review: I thought this book was really great. I liked the character of Bugs a lot. The character of Bud was well created. This book was set in the Great Depresion. Even though Bud was homeless, he still had a great outlook on life. My favorite character was Lefty Lois because he was a mystery until he finally admitted who he really was. In the end, Cadwell turned out to be his Grandpa, not his Dad. Later on, Bud got a horn. The book was pretty good at the begining, but it was really good at the end.

Summary: Bud, Not Buddy
Review: I thought Bud, Not Buddy was a great read. It begins with two boys getting ready to go to foster homes from an orphanage. Bud, the older of the two black boys, comforts the smaller one, showing that he has a compassionate personality. As Bud travels from the 'Home' to the foster home, to being free, he tells more and more about himself, and you start to become attatched to him. Bud feels bad for other black people suffering hard times, but doesn't think twice about his own situation. When Bud goes to meet his father, several suprises come up. I thoroughly enjoyed this well written, humorous, yet thoughtful book.

Summary: Christopher Paul Curtis does it again.
Review: I have read many books in my life, but the best book I read was Bud not Buddy.the main character Bud has a strong dislike to the name buddy. Bud a unique character thinks that his Father is the famous fiddler player on the newspaper. Bud dicides to take a risk across the state to find out. On the way he meets some friends who help him but is not pleased when he makes it there. This adventurous book is appropriate for anyone from ages 9 and up.
