Summary: WONDERFUL!
Review: I absolutely loved this book, and just finished it last night. My mom and 16 year old sister recommended this book to me (I'm 26). The characters were incredibly endearing and I so enjoyed the journey that Sal and her friends and family take. It was very realisitic. Read it, you will be glad you did!

Summary: Walk Two Moons and Absolutely Normal Chaos
Review: Walk Two Moons and Absolutely Normal Chaos by Sharon Creech are not just books for teenagers. The topic and issues in these books are relevant to kids and adults of all ages. I can never put the books down once I start them and I'm 31 years old. I teach 6th grade English in Rapid City, SD and have been using Sharon's books for the last three years. The themes of WTM and ANC fit perfectly with my students. Not only because the Walk Two Moons goes through SD, but because of the topics it deals with. Many of my students have gone through the issues that Sal and Mary Lou deal with throughout the books. What makes it even better is that we write to Mrs. Creech after we read it and she always resonds. Her responses are not just the typical author response. She really makes the kids feel special. I strongly encourage people of all ages to read her books.

Summary: Truly Touching, Funny, and Heartwarming
Review: I traded six copies of Walk Two Moons for 5 copies of The Giver with a fellow teacher, and I think I got a steal. Not to disparage The Giver, but Walk Two Moons appealed to me in so many different ways that I feel truly lucky to have gotten this book to share with my students in their literature circles (the other teacher didn't know what she was giving up, having never read Walk Two Moons). My students first reaction to this story is it's a chick book, but I remind them, I'm 28, I'm a guy, I'm an athlete, I'm macho, and I loved it. The story of Sal, Gram, Gramps, Phoebe, and Sal's mom is touching and heartwarming. Reasons to read this book: 1. It's funny. Gram and Gramps have the most peculiar dialect that when read aloud the story never fails to bring a chuckle. 2. Sal's character. The entire time I read this story, I felt a connection with Sal that was undeniable, and yet it's hard to really know her until near the end of the novel as she doesn't even know herself. The Winterbottoms. Though not the thrust of the story, their problems are a perfect counterpoint to the struggle of Sal's journey. The main thing that hinders my students initial enjoyment of the story is the narrative style. It's stories within stories. Sal is remembering the stories about her mother and retelling them to her Grandparents as they travel across the U.S. while filling them in on her relationship with Phoebe Winterbottom. The shifts of time and place often confused my 8th graders, but when they got it straight, they really began to enjoy the story. You will too.

Summary: Perfect Mother/Daughter reading!
Review: My older daughter and I read this book together when she was 11, having rescued it from a cousin's dusty bookshelf. We both fell in love with the characters from the start, and were completely drawn into the story of Salamanca and her family. The story delves sensitively into the life of a thirteen year old girl to whom all girls will relate in one way or another. As a mother, it also made me cherish even more the wonderful/mysterious relationship I have with my daughter. Two years later, we still talk about this book and how much we both enjoyed it, and even re-read certain passages to each other on occasion. We have also mutually devoured anything else we can find written by Ms. Creech, including "Chasing Redbird" and "Bloomabilities," in which the author has interwoven tidbits from "Walk Two Moons" that leave the reader feeling deliciously connected. Yes, Ms. Creech's tales do have sad themes, although bittersweet might be a better adjective. I am especially appreciative that her writing does not contain unecessary themes or inappropriate imagery as is often found in novels for young teens. My daughter and I heartily reccommend this book!

Summary: good, but a bit depressing
Review: I enjoyed reading Walk Two Moons, but I found it to be quite disturbing. If you are a person who is deeply effected by what you read, I would caution this book. It is very sad throughout and has a sad ending. I think people should be warned before reading a sad book. A lot of people choose to read a book based on the awards it has won or the star-rating. Although this is often a good indicator of the book, it doesn't always give us the kind of information we really want to know. So, I just want to say that Walk Two Moons, in my opinion (of course), is well written and entertaining, but it is depressing. People who are dealing with sadness right now should put it off until later.

Summary: Should of gotten 10 stars!
Review: I love this book. It is on e of my top favorite books. I wish I could write like Sharon Creech. But beware! The ending is sad, but you get over it. This book is so hard to put down. It sounds weird but IT'S THE BEST BOOK EVER! It's Sharon Creech's bes book.

Summary: Well written, touching story.
Review: My son and I were touched buy the story. The use of humor in the dialogue between Gramps and Gram made us laugh and cry. Salamanca was a character we were touched by, because of her need for her mother and her drive to understand what happened.

Summary: Tears, both good & bad, for a lost mother!
Review: I chose this book for my 'Novel of Initiation' project and I could not be more pleased. Sal grows from feelings of abandonment to feelings of loss. Her jealousy, which she admits to, opens her eyes to see she must appriciate what she has now, before it is gone. Although long for it's age group, this book reads very easily and Creech has used simple language throughout. I have never encounted a loss has Sal has, but my tears near the end were in hopes that I will never have to build the strength and courage to face such pain!

Summary: Tear bringing story
Review: If you are into books that tell a winding tale about lunatics, weird road trips, friends with weird last names and of course, have feelings, then Walk Two Moons is right up your alley!
