Rating: Summary: Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech Review: In Walk Two Moons, Salamanca Tree Hiddle starts on a journey to meet her mother who left home a year ago. Throughout the ride, she tells her grandparents the story of her past year in Euclid, Ohio. As the audience, we get to weave in and out of Sal's current life and past story in the touching form that belongs only to Sharon Creech. I read this story two years ago when I was eleven, and remember being confused and dubious about the whole thing. It is true that there is something strangely depressing about Sharon Creech's storylines; throughout the sad and mystical stories of Sal's life with her mother back in Bybanks. Also the somewhat cynical and horrific imagination of Sal's friend Phoebe. Still, there is something definitely thrilling about reading this story, especially now that I have had a chance to reread it. The humble, unassuming albeit slightly witty thoughts of Sal's is very fun to read and some of the anecdotes enlightening. I would suggest this story to any kid or adult willing for something unlike any other book I have read before.
Rating: Summary: An Amazing Book Review: Walk Two Moons, is the most amazing book anyone will ever have the opportunity to read. It is the story of Salamanca (Sal) Hiddle, a witty and intelligent girl whose mother abandons her and her father on their farm in Bybanks, Kentucky. Sal loves everything about this farm, from the pigs to the chickens to the trees to the swimming hole and is devistated when her father, who claims that everything about the farm reminds him of his wife, and her move to an entirely different kind of place: Euclid, Ohio. There, Sal meets Phoebe Winterbottom, whose mother leaves her too, and Sal's story is revealed. Sal then becomes enthralled in many adventures with Mrs. Cadaver (meaning dead body), the lunatic, Sergeant Bickles, and the returning of Phoebe's mother. Sal accounts her entire story to Gram and Gramps while on a road trip to Lewiston, Idaho, in hope to find "Sugar," Sal's mom. This is a great book and I encourage everyone who has the opportunity, to read it. It is a great story which many people can benefit from, and includes a lot of important issues in a very sophisticated novel.
Rating: Summary: An Awesome Book Review: Amanda Vo 3/13/04 Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech is about this girl named Sal. She has a father and a mother, but her mother ran away. Her mother didn't run away because of an argument or that sort it was because she thought Sal and her dad were too good for her. SHe promised to return by the time spring came, she never did. She hasn't seen her mother in years, her mother said she was going to Indiana, so finally Sal and her grandparents set off to visit her mother, they wanna mak it in time for her mother's birthday. On the way Sal tells a story of a girl named Phoebe how her friends encounters a "lunatic" and how Phoebe finds something surprising about her mother. This is a truly amazing book, this is the kind of book that you'll just wanna read over and over again, you'll never forget this book. I highly recommend it. There are many morals in this book but one stands out the most. This is a truly remarkable book.

Rating: Summary: Huzza Huzza Review: Walk Two Moons is a story of love and adventure. It was written by Sharon Creech and won the 1995 Newbery Medal. I laughed and cried when I read it, but what I found out in the end just blew my breath away. Salamanca a thirteen year old girl lives with her father. She goes on a road trip with her grandparents to visit her mother who had left when Salamanca was young. They were driving to Lewiston, Idaho. While they are driving Salamanca tells a story about a girl named Phoebe, the adventures they had together and while Salamanca tells the story she notices how it relates to her own story. On the way to Idaho something terrible happens to Gram, Salamanca's grandmother. Finally when Salamanca reaches Lewiston she goes to visit her mother, but what she finds isn't exactly her normal mother but something different. I recommend Walk Two Moons to someone who likes books with adventure, mystery and sadness. When I was reading it I couldn't put it down. It made me think about life in a whole new way. At the end I cried for a long time because the end was devistating, but very well written. Sharon Creech has a way with words and is a wonderful author. Walk Two Moons is a magnificent book!
Rating: Summary: Absolutely perfect! Review: How do I describe this book? Well, absolutely perfect just about does it. Salamanca is a country girl who moves to a city because her father does not want to stay at their house. This is beacuse Sal's mother left them because she needed to find who she was. Both Sal and her dad are torn apart, and when her dad finds happiness with a women named Margaret Cadaver, Sal does not like it. So now she is living in this city, and absolutely despising it, when she meets this girl named Pheobe. Phoebe has a VERY vivid imagination, and around every corner there seems to be a murderer with her. Then, Sal winds up taking a trip with her two loony granparents, and along they way she tells Phoebe's very strange, and interestin, story. While telling this story she realizes there is another story inside of it, her own. This book was a page turning novel with an ending I never would have predicted. Along the way I was there with Sal and her grandparents and Phoebe. I felt like I could feel just as they were feeling at the time, and I would stay up really late begging my mom for "just one more chapter...please?". This book was written beautifully, and it was a pleasure to read. I would reccomend this book for upper elementary students and middle school students. If you like tales that can grab you in until the end, then this book is definitly for you! Also, this book is very touching (I was crying at the end), while other times it was funny, so keep that in mind. Walk two moons is a masterpiece, I guarentee you you will not be disappointed!
Rating: Summary: A Great Book for Readers Willing to Go Where it Takes Them Review: This book is a beautiful story about an amazing girl. It is a multitude of stories woven into one another. The first time I read this book I was thirteen and I laughed and cried as I read it. Now I am sixteen and I read the book again recently. It didn't hit me as hard, but it still moved me. You don't have to have tragedy going on in your life to understand Salamanca (the main character), especially if you're just starting your teen years. You see, Walk Two Moons is about growing up. It's about leaving the fairy world that you live in and beginning to understand things about the world that are difficult to accept. Salamanca is being forced out of the safety, and blind contentment of childhood. We all go through it. For her, it was the disappearance of her mother. Maybe for us it was something smaller and more trivial. Either way, the idea is the same. It's a very real story. It doesn't paint women as people who always do right and are perfect. I'm glad it doesn't! Sharon Creech has created some fascinating, wonderfully flawed women who have made mistakes, and experienced hard times, but are still good people. And Salamanca Tree Hiddle, our main character, is a truly insipiring, intelligent, interesting, and amazing girl. Reading this a sixteen year old I realized what a well written, engaging story Walk Two Moons is. However, at a younger age, the story did something more meaningful. It made me realize that there were people out ther feeling, on some level, the things that I was feeling. I recommend this for 12, 13, 14 year olds. It may mean the most to them. But it is a terrific story, and I'm sure entertaining for people of many ages.
Rating: Summary: Not So Great Review: Before reading this book by Sharon Creech, I had read Bloomability and Ruby Holler by Sharon Creech which were simply fantastic. However, I don't know how on earth this became an award winning book. In the beginning, it is really good but the interupptions by her grandparents are somewhat annoying. Phoebe, the girl who turns out to be her friend is sort of--well, off the wall. Also, Salamanca (the main character), to be a thirteen year old, has some dumb and immature ideas. At some points, I thought I was reading about a five year old. It is also stupid how Salamanca finds out about how mother died. It makes no since how her grandfather allows her to drive when she's just 13. Overall, I give this book 3 stars.
Rating: Summary: Review of Walk Two Moons Review: I really enjoyed this book because it had a lot of suspenseful, sudden, scary, and sad moments. As Salamanca tells her story you can picture the places she visits, and you can feel, with intensity, what she is feeling. Although it is heartbreaking when Salamanca finds out that her mother had died, it is still an outstanding book. I would reccommend this book to anyone who likes scary mysteries.
Rating: Summary: Great, But sad Book Review: I liked this book because it was a sort of adventurous book and I like adventure books. I give this book a 3 star rating because it has at least three really sad parts that you kind of have to read because they pull the book together. Sharon Creech writes really good books. Even though I'm only nine years old (I'm kind of a better reader then most 9-year-olds) I reccomend this book and Sharon Creech's other books for people who are at least 11. Some other good books writen by Sharon creech are Ruby Holler and Chasing Redbird. If you want to read Walk Two Moons start reading it this instant!
