But Stephano, Uncle Monty's assistant turnes out to be someone the orphans hoped to never see again. You will laugh out loud at this extremly entertaining tale of children, snakes, and misfortune. LEMONY SNICKET IS AT IT AGAIN!
Rating: Summary: Funny and sad. Review: Of all the books I've read in the series, this takes honors for being both the funniest and the saddest. the page of "evers" was a scream! But the saddest comes at the very end as they took away the incredibly deadly viper as he and the children cried for each other.
Rating: Summary: A great book for all ages Review: I am a fifth grade student at Waldron Mercy Academy(SCD). I would give this book five stars. It is one of the greatest series I have ever read. This is book the second in the series. It is a little sad but I like it anyway. I read it in two days. This is how the story goes: Count Olaf is after these poor orphans fortune. Count Olaf is a very mean person who has treated them very meanily in the earlier books. They will be able to take their fortune when they are old enough. They have moved in with their Uncle Monty. He has a reptile room which he works in every day with the orphans. One time this huge snake was wraping around the baby orphan and they where so scared. The snake was a very friendly snake so they were not scared. He had almost every kind of reptile in the world. One day Count Olaf was discased as somone else and was suppose to watch the house while Uncle Monty went on a trip with the orphans. The orphans knew it was him but no one belived them. He would always threaten them with knives. It must have been horrible. Then Count Olaf poisined Uncle Monty with snake poison. Uncle Monty soon dies. Now the orphans have to go on a trip with Count Olaf. Will he take them away again and make them work for him. What will happen to the orphans?
Rating: Summary: Wonderfully unfortunately continuing so! Review: The mysterious author with the citrusy name is certainly to be admired for his endless cleverness. Continuing the oh-so unlucky tale of the Baudelaire orphans with the same wickedly awful humor and page-turning plots, the no-more fortunate Mr. Snicket unceasingly contrives to not only entertain his young (and not-so-young) audiences, but to also teach them a bit here and there about language and semantics in an entirely nasty fun way. The popularity of this series in no way surprises and most definitely delights this cranky ol' children's librarian to no small end. Thank goodness the Lemony One is more prolific than the Potter Word-Wizard, so we, especially the 'tweeny-boppers among us, have some great reading while waiting. There much to recommend this series to anyone who enjoys a fun romp in the land of verbiage and a rollicking good read as well.
Rating: Summary: THIS SHOULD HAVE 100 STARS! Review: I would give this book 100 stars if I could! This book is very miserable, Count Olaf is after these poor orphans and the series has gone on. Up to the 9th they are the BOMB! They are wonderful, though very unfortunate for these young children and it is another great book in this series that will keep you on your seat through the misery, woe, and Count Olaf.
Rating: Summary: The Best out Of All Of Them! Review: After narrowly escaping Count Olaf, Sunny, Klaus, and Violet meet their new guardian Uncle Monty(a reptile expert.) I have read just about every book so far and this one is still my favorite. These books are fun to read but you should read them in order.
Rating: Summary: Imagine Living these kid's lives! Review: Think you have bad luck? The Baudelaire children, Violet, Klaus, & Sunny, have horrific luck. Their parents died in a great fire, and they are going to live with their Unlce Monty. He's a herpetologist, which is a scientist who studies snakes. He has a huge room full of snakes, including the newly discovered "Incredible Deadly Viper", which, as it turns out isn't THAT deadly. Uncle Monty gives them a wonderful life, at least, compared to their former gaurdian, Count Olaf. In fact, he's going to take them to Peru to find snakes. Then, when the Baudelaire children think their lives couldn't get any better, something dreadful happens. Count Olaf returns! He also has a new plan to take their fortune. This book is great, not only because of the story line, but also because it gives you a better vocabulary, as the characters tell the meaning of words in their dialogue. It is the second book in The Series of Unfortunate Events. It doesn't make much sense without reading the first book, "The Bad Beginning". Many horrible things happen in the book, but that's why it's in: The Series of Unfortunate Events.
Rating: Summary: Uncle Monty. Mr. Poe. Baudelaire Orphans. Stephano. Review: The Reptile Room is the second book filled with the Bauedlaire childre's misfortune. When the orphans go to live with their Uncle Monty everything seems to be fine untill a new assintant, Stefano who is realy a man they hoped never to see again makes a plan to get their fortune. The children know who Stefano is but no one thinks the are right. This story is funny, educational and sad. I loved how Mr. Snicket as in the first book gave a definition for all of the words that were big or techinal. This was a great book I found myself reading it over and over again! READ THIS BOOK!!
Rating: Summary: Depressing but, good Review: Casey Fleming My favorite book I read over the weekend was The Reptile Room by Lemony Snicket. It's about the Baudelaire children who lost their parents in a car accident. Now they have to go live with their late father's cousin's wife's brother. One reason I like this book is because of the room full of reptiles. A deadly serpent lives there, because he removed from a lake in Scotland. The three children try to reason with their Uncle Montgomery, because it's not right to capture a serpent in a room full of reptiles. So they try to capture it by letting the littlest kid be the bait, and the older kids trap it in a net. Another reason I like it is because a long knife needs to be found to open a secret passageway to a room full of gold. The children search and search the house but, couldn't find it . They tried to open a door to a room that hasn't been open for a long time. They opened it and discovered a terrible odor that wanted to make them barf. When they finally opened the all the way they discovered the item they were looking for. The last reason I this book is when they see a person they hope to never see again. It was a man named Dr. Lucafat because they hate the doctor. He was a veterinarian for the retiles. The reptiles loves, even the serpent missed him .He was the reason the reptiles got mad. In conclusion you can see why my favorite book is The Reptile Room by Lemony Snicket.
