Summary: good book!
Review: The "Reptile Room" starts off where the last book, the Bad Beginning ended. Mr. Poe, executor of the Baudelaire estate sends the Baudelaires to live with distant relative Montgomery Montgomery, or Uncle Monty for short. There the children decide that they like their new caretaker, who allows them to work with him and plans to take them with him to South America. But, surprise, surprise, Count Olaf finds them, disguises himself as someone close to Monty, and plans to steal the fortune yet again. Though this plot is not as weird or offensive as the first one, Count Olaf does use questionanble (okay, profanity) at times, murder, and deceptive plots to kill the children in a country where "crimes go unnoticed." Overall, this book is enjoyable, but then again, I am nearly twenty-two years old and have no problems with oddball murder schemes and profanity. Again, I was questioning the age level on this thing. It is supposed to be in the same section in bookstores as Beverly Cleary and the American Girls Collection, not to mention Harry Potter, and all these books are cleaner than this one. So read it if you want. Or don't have any problems with the plot and the profanity put in it. I'm not saying it is bad, I enjoyed it, but then again I'm not a parent.
