Summary: The Catcher in the Rye
Review: I really anjoyed this book because it taught a lot about how it is for teenagers to grow up. I feel that a lot of adults don't truly understand how hard it is for teens to find their place in the world, and Holden's character goes through many of the same things that most teens face today. I think everyone, not only teens, should read this book because then everybody would have a better understanding of growing up and what goes through teen's minds during this time.

Summary: Emotions over MIND
Review: I really did enjoy this book, but it's too far overrated. No way no how is this book worth as much as anything over 4 stars. Too many people are afraid to judge, that's what's wrong here. Emotions over mind. Just like this boy......

Summary: Would have rather read something else.
Review: I really didn't like the book. To me the ending just stoped and it left many questions unanswered. Holdens constant whining and complaining really bugged me, and it drove me nuts how he would always repeat himself over and over again. One part that I liked is when he is at home with Phoebe, and they are in her room dancing to the music. Other then that part, the book didn't interest me that much.

Summary: An Emotionally Difficult Time made even more Difficult
Review: I really do not see where all the confusion lies in getting the point of the book. Holden is having a very difficult time trying to work through the death of his younger brother. As adults, we can more predictably go through the stages of grief, but, as adolescents, we struggle through the death of loved ones in the context of our struggle for identity. We not only try to find a career for ourselves but also prove our loyalty to our friends, imitate role models, solidify our sexual identity, and form ideologies. Often, we say and do the opposite of what we mean because we find our feelings are so intense that we could not admit it straight out to the people around us and ourselves yet still be accepted. Imagine how hard it would be to go through your teen years having lost a sibling. Holden really does try to reach out to all the people he meets, but unfortunately, cannot express concretely what he is feeling; instead, he acts out with smoking, drinking, losing sleep, and searching for sexual escapades. Eventually, he runs himself down physically and mentally. Sadly, many adults do not see, or do not want to bear the responsibility, of getting teenagers to better express themselves and instead shame them. This book is a wonderful portrayal of an adolescent as he journeys down a path of depression and self-destruction until his family and the health-care profession intervene with acceptance and love.

Summary: LONG LIVE HOLDEN CAULFIELD!
Review: I really enjoyed reading a school book for the first time when I picked up Catcher in the Rye. I must say that Holden Caulfield is someone any teenager can really relate to. He may be a little screwed up, but he is an independent thinker and realistic. Holden represents a lot of misunderstood people out there. I will always consider this book one of my favorites. Out of all the books that I had to read in high school, this book sticks out as the most memorable and the one that I, as an individual, have learned the most from.

Summary: The Catcher And The Rye
Review: I really enjoyed reading this book. The aother really hit on some teenage issues that even happen today. There was not a boring part of the book. We have read many novles in our class and this one has to be my faviort. The only thing that I didn't like was the ending because it ended so quick. I wish that the author would let somone make a movie out of the book because it would be such a good movie. I kind understand why he wouldn't want wnayone to make a movie though because they might give a message in the movie that the auther didn't want or that wasent it the book.

Summary: absolutly hillarious
Review: I really enjoyed reading this novel by J.D. Salinger. It was a savagely funny page-turner and no matter what the situation was this book never failed to give me a great laugh. This is one of those books where you don't need to relate to the story to fully enjoy its humor. I can't recall a page that didn't crack me up. For example a part in the book I like was when Holden Caulfield said that he was loaded because his grandma was losing her mind and would send him birthday money four times a year. There were also a lot of other funny parts but I remember that one the most because I was at the airport going out to California to see my mom and I only see her once a year. Basically I think that this book is a great book. There were really no parts of the story I didn't like except on the very beginning of the book. I think that the author spent too much time talking about Holden's school. They spent about 80-100 pages just talking about what he was doing at his school. Other than that I can't recall any bad parts in this book. It was funny the whole way through so I cant really complain about anything.

Summary: The Catcher in the Rye
Review: I really enjoyed this book. Any one who wants a laugh or a cry should DEFINATELY read this book. Holden has depression although Salinger never directly comes out and states Holden's state.

Summary: Goodness
Review: I really enjoyed this book. I felt like I really knew Holden, and I got into his head. I highly recommend this book for anyone who wants to read something very entertaining. It's an easy read, and something is learned from every book.
