Rating: Summary: Who Cares? Review: This is just such a boring book. who cares about this guy who hates society or whatever. boring. like i need a book to tell me what's wrong with society. maybe this book is good for disillusioned teens who can't think for themselves. and most of all, i hate the fact that people say things like, "This book should be read by everyone!" i'm a teenager, but i think it stinks. when i'm 40 years old, i'll still think that it stinks. RAGE AGAINST THE LITERARY MACHINE!!!
Rating: Summary: real life situation Review: this is my all time favorite book.ive read it 6 times straight in a row .i would reccokmed it to any one betwwen the ages of 15 to 17. what i liked about it is that it tells it like it is.not like how these tv sitcoms portray "the perfect life" its something ANY high school kid can relate to.
Rating: Summary: All-Time Favortie! Review: This is my all-time favorite piece of fiction. This book reads like it could have been written only years ago, and not decades ago. Salinger perfectly and accurately captures male adolescence, and in the process creates a novel for all ages. This is a timeless work, a book that I read usually once every year or two. The tone of the speaker (Holden Caufield) is typical of a disenchanted youth, confused with so many issues in his life. It is a novel that is probably over-analyzed (as many great works of literature are) and can be enjoyed purely on entertainment value, without all the psychological gobbledegook that professors attempt to shove down student's throats. Read it and enjoy it for what it is, a fascinating story about a boy who is going through a difficult time in his life and how he deals with it.
Rating: Summary: The best book for teenage self-discovery! Review: This is my favorite book ever! The main character, Holden Caulfield, is a 16-year-old-boy who is not sure who he is, until he goes on a 48-hour journey for self-discovery. Holden has many things in common with teenagers, which is why I recommend this book. This is a book written in the language of teenagers which makes it interesting to read. Filled with symbolisms, "The Catcher in the Rye" is a book which can help teenagers find their true self and the truth about life.
Rating: Summary: This is my favorite book! Review: This is my favorite book of all time because it is written so well. I have never read another book as good as this one is. I first read it when I was in eigth grade, but I have read it several time since then. It is a sad book, because you can really relate to the narrator. You can really feel his lonliness and his pain. You know what he's going through, because you can imagine being in the situations that he is in. The book has a lot of dry humor in it, too. This book is for mature readers. It is very good and I recommend it to everyone who likes to read!
Rating: Summary: A Masterpiece...Read This Book!!! Review: This is my favorite book of all time. I am amazed at the ability of Salinger to peer into the minds of his characters and pull out an illusion that anyone can witness and feel. His short stories do the same, inviting you on a psychological endeavor into the minds of fictional characters. These are thoughts and actions we all can relate to and it makes the characters much more interesting when this can be done. All of Salinger's work is very unique and very special, but this story in it's entirety is on another, a higher, level of greatness. In my opinion, Catcher in the Rye is one of the greatest books ever written. Read it. The paperback is cheaper, but you might want to spend the extra money to place this one on your display shelf for multiple readings and admiration.
Rating: Summary: A book that will change how you look at life Review: This is my favorite book of all time. It changed me more than any other book I have ever read. The story of Holden Caulfield, a modern day Hamlet, is both touching and eyeopening. Holden represents something deep within us all. If you read any book make it this one.
Rating: Summary: simply amazing Review: This is my favorite book of all time. There is so much symbolism and so much personification that you will find yourself believing that you actually know the main character. This book sends a strong message to all readers about growing up and protecting yourself and others from falling into a world full of phonies. This is one of the greatest books ever written.
Rating: Summary: something u can relate to Review: this is my favorite book. it's hard to exaplin why. just read it and why it's my favorite will make sense. holden caulfield is my hero.
Rating: Summary: Relevant as ever!!! Review: This is my first review for Amazon, so i figure why not review one of my favorites of all time. Hard to believe I actually never had to read this book for a class, I read it out of curiosity, and I'm thankful that I did. Thsi book should be a must for all english courses as well as sociology and even psychology, everyone who sees the "phony" nature of society, should love this book.
