Rating: Summary: HOLDEN'S MISCOMMUCATION AND COMMUNCATION Review: TELL ME MORE ABOUT HOLDEN MISCOMMUNCATION AND COMMUNCATION.
Rating: Summary: Boring. Review: That's about it .... I read this when I was a teenager and I read it again later on, trying to figure out what exactly was supposed to be so great. Both times I was amazingly bored. With the character, with the whole plot or lack thereof, whatever. It's well written, it's a perfect portrait, but I just didn't care... sort of like the Basketball Diaries. Again, didn't really care, and that had lots of drugs in it to make it interesting. Everyone I know had a more interesting real life than these people. Maybe it's just the way it's described; if someone were really telling this story I'd be interested, but it's just so blandly written. It's like he took some great event and turned it into porridge. I just don't relate ... I must be some sort of freak. Three stars because I'm afraid someone would come beat me up if I gave it less, and after all I've read worse written books.
Rating: Summary: The "Catcher In the Rye" has no plot and is vulgar. Review: The "Catcher In the Rye" has offended myself aswell as anyone who is human. That might sound like a generlization but, if you like this book you have to love generalizing. This book is filled with vulgar speech and has no place in our classrooms. If a person wants to read it, well then it is their right but, it should not be forced upon teenagers to read it
Rating: Summary: Catcher In The Rye Review: The "Catcher In The Rye" is one of the best books that I have read in my young, well-balanced life. This book was fun and very, very entertaining. When reading the book, I compared the book to my own life style, in that Holden Caulfield, the main character in the book, is a teenager in High School. I can actually think and feel what Holden was thinking and feeling. That was one of the big reasons that I really enjoyed this book because it felt like I was in it. When reading, I found that Holden was feeling alot of pain and agony throughout the novel with a ton of problems. I recongnized many hurdles that Holden and I have faced as young teenagers. Once I picked up the book and started to read, it was pretty hard to put down.
Rating: Summary: THE GREAT AMERICAN NOVEL Review: The absolute best book I have ever read--ever.It is a jab at society(in the 50's),it shows just how stupid we can be sometimes. It is dead on characterization, everyone has thier own distinguishable personalities--and you follow Holden through the book seeing his depression rise and his mental health decline. His relationship with his little sister is touching and shows the characters hidden kindness---you get to feel Holdens personality through the thoughts that go through his head.It allows you to figure out why Holden is the way he is today(i.e brother dying, numerous expulsions)and lets you feel for him. I guarentee after you read the first chapter you will be hooked. With heavy regret I cannot give this book more than 5 stars, because it is better than the "Perfect" book. The true great American novel. If you have not read it yet,get it today!!
Rating: Summary: Only if you're paranoid Review: The author does so well in making the main character Holden Caulfield seem neurotic or psycho that the only way to follow this book is actually to be paranoid or one of the above. His constant thought processes are lifelike, but they become obnoxious very quickly.
