Rating: Summary: most captivating book i ever read Review: I thought it was very interesting and theres no other character quite like the prince himself
Rating: Summary: Ok Review: I thought that "The Catcher in the Rye" was a good book. I dont understand how people can totally hate it. It wasnt the best book i've ever read. I seems like Holden complains about everything. Even though there was quite alot of complaining i still liked it.
Rating: Summary: Catcher in the Rye Review: I thought that Catcher in the Rye was an excellent book. It dealt with a lot of teen issues, and used several events anyone could relate to. It was well written and kept my attention. I enjoyed the idea that he was telling a story of the past. I also liked how the title of the book related to one of his main goals. Overall this was a great book and I would recommend it to anyone.
Rating: Summary: Highly over rated...poor exscuse for a classic Review: I thought that J.D. Salinger was just trying to develop a "shocker" with this novel, and all I got from it was over abused language and poor writing. I understand that Salinger was portraying a "madman's" point of view yet I feel he could have made the character a little less repetitive and more intelligent
Rating: Summary: Good, but it's not the best. Review: I thought that the book was good, especially the part when Holden is talking about the museum. In the book Holden talks a lot about a museum and how everything in it never changes, but the people that go into the museum are always changing. I also like how Holden is always worring about his sister Pheobe, and what she's doing. When she gave him her money he didn't want to spend it because it was her Christmas money. One part that I didn't like is when Pheobe refers that Holden can't really like Allie because he is dead.
Rating: Summary: "BAD WORDS" Review: I thought that the book was quite bouring, and was not interested in the point it was making. I really don't care if you like the book or not the language used in the book made it weak. I'm not some activists that thinks it should be baned from school, but the point of the noval was lost in the continues swaring.
Rating: Summary: Ryan's Review Review: I thought that this book was a very good read. I mostly liked it because it was a teenager that the book was about. I could relate to it. I also liked how Holden told the story. In the story Holden went through a lot of problems that kids go through now. Some are different but you could definitly relate to them. It talks about how when you were a child that you really couldn't see over the rye field and how his name resembled that. Also how if you were an adult you were able to see the edge of the cliff. You can also relate to that because there are some things your parents just don't tell you, but you want to know but you just can't. That is how i kinda of interpreted it. I loved the detail in this story. I really liked how the author described exactly how Holden was feeling about what was going on in the story. I thought the whole part about Allie and her death was really good and how he explained how Holden felt about it. Also how he kinda of held back about a lot of things, but when he would go and visit Phoebe he would act a lot different. How he would open up about a lot of things around Phoebe. Well, overall I really liked this story a lot, mostly because I could relate to some of the situations. I really liked how the author wrote the story I just thought that it was really great. I definitly suggest that you read it.
Rating: Summary: Catcher in the rye Review: I thought that this book was an interesting novel. The context of the book is very conversational. I liked it because the Austhor let you look deep into the charachter to see what he was actually thinking. The reason why I rate this book a 3 instead of a $ or 5 is because of the plot. The plot is very slow movin and was difficult for me to stay with it. One third of each chapter is rambling about irrrelevant topics that arise is the narrators head. OTher than that, The style, perspective and thoughts of the author helped persuade me to rate this book a 3 Star.
Rating: Summary: Great! Review: I thought that this book was one of the greatest books I have read. The book catches you from the first pages that you read.J.D.Salinger did a great job on this book. And I am glad that I read it.
Rating: Summary: A wonderful and heart-warming novel Review: I thought that this was a wonderful novel. It was very interesting and always kept me occupied. I could really understand it well. I could also relate to it since the main character is a teenager. The theme of the book is great and I loved how the tite tied into it. It is about one boy's life and how he is on the borderline of childhood and adulthood. He is begining to lose his childhood innocence, and in a way doesn't want to. He begins to fail school and runs away to New York City and discovers the real adult world. He is confused about which way to turn. I loved this book because it really made me realize and appreciate more how important childhood really is. And if you rush through it too fast you'll begin to regret it later in your life. I think that it is a great book and I think that every teenager should read it. I highly reccomend it.
