Rating: Summary: FORGED Review: When "Forged by Fire" starts off you get a picture of how bad life is for young Gerald. His mother is a drug addict and is somewhat abusive when punishing him. When his mom leaves him home alone at three years old, Gerald discovers his love for fire. Before he knows it, everything is on fire. The young boy is terrified but ends up getting rescued right before his drugged up mother returns. Gerald's life takes a good turn when he is living with Aunt Queen. Happy and safe, Gerald is finally in the setting he feels he deserves. His happiness is short lived when on his ninth birthday, Gerald's mother returns bringing a husband and a daughter. Back in this dangerous setting, Gerald learns a dark secret about his stepfather, Jordan. Jordan molests Angel, Gerald's stepsister, physically and mentally. Things finally erupt when Gerald confronts Jordan while he is molesting Angel. To make matters worse Jordan's neglect has also caused a fire. Furiously Gerald attacks Jordan but cannot stop him. Without thinking about the kids Jordan rushes out of the room leaving the two to die. Facing fire one more time, Gerald leaps into action. Rating: Summary: Forged By Fire Review: When I got the opportunity to read the novel Forged By Fire, I didn't think it would be a good book at first. After reading it, I think this is a really great book. Not only does the author describe a child's troubled life, but creates role models for other children with the same problems. I would recommend this book for all teens to read. I think this book is educational and could be very helpful to anyone that is living a troubled life or going through a bad situation. This book shows how much pain people will go through in order to save the ones they care about.
Rating: Summary: just a book, or real life? Review: Gerald, a determined young teenager, faces a drastic change in his life. His aunt adopts him at the age of three because his birthmother, Monique, is substance-addicted and is incapable of taking care of him. He lives with his aunt Queen for about six years and then she dies, so he goes back to living with his mother, and also his sister, which he's never met, and a stepfather. He is suddenly thrown into a household that is filled with anger, abuse, and addiction. His stepfather abuses him, and he protects his little sister by taking the abuse aimed towards her. I really felt sorry for Angel and Gerald, but in the end he turns out to be a really brave kid. I think this was a great book because it shows how people can make it through all the pain and still manage to survive. I think that this was a very excellent book for middle school children and older readers to show what could possibly be happening behind closed doors.
Rating: Summary: The Whole Thing Review: The story "Forged by Fire" is an excellent story about a low-class family and a struggle between a boy, Gerald, and a ruthless stepfather, Jordan Sparks. In the beginning a boy is taken from a home of a drugged up mother who went to jail for child andangerment and abandonment, to a home of a great aunt, Queen, who for 6 years, has taken care of a boy, Gerald, her nephew. Angel is a child who is abused every day of her life till Gerald takes a stand and tells someone of the trouble they are having in the home. Years go by and the now more stronger and in-charged family, Monique, Gerald, and Angel, face up to the man that hurt them in the past,8 years ago. More anger and more hate grows in Gerald when he thinks of this friend and aunt died and the family that will never be the same, that all spark a fire in his eyes and in his heart, for the name that would soon find out you don't mess with fire. It all turns out for the better in the end, when Jordan finally meets his match and an ultimate end. This is an excellent book for anyone who is into books with family problems and putting up with life in general. If you are into these books I suggest reading this book, its excellent.

Rating: Summary: A Wonderful Story Review: "Forged By Fire" is a wonderfully written tale about the struggles of a young black male. I had my high school reading class read the book and each of the students were mesmorized by how good the book was. Each chapter makes you want to read the next. It is hard to put the book down. I especially like the way that the author sees things through Gerald's eyes. I found the thought processes to be very accurate for a young child and still captivating for an older audience. I loved this book right up through the end!
Rating: Summary: Forged By Fire is Great Review: I am really happy that I read the novel Forged By Fire. It was a beautifully done book, with many great aspects of it. It involves the boy Gerald who in my opinion is a very strong hearted boy. He had to stand up for what he thought, and what he thought was wrong. He was abused by his step-father, and he protected his little sister by taking the abuse aimed towards her. I thought he was very brave for doing this. This book has some mature subjects discussed, but overall, it was a very well done book. I recommend it to anyone who wants to read a book that is very powerful, and covers subjects that you may be uncomfortable with, but it's great. I am definitely going to read some more selections that were written by this author, Sharon M. Draper! I am very impressed with this book, and I definitely hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Get ready for a good book!
Rating: Summary: My review on Forged By Fire Review: This book is about a boy named Gerald who is abused. The book starts off by telling about his mother abusing him when he was three years old.she would always hit him and leave him at home by himself. Then he started living with his Aunt Queen until he was about nine years old. When his aunt died he went back to live with his mom and step-father,Jordan.He was really abusive too, he would hit Gerald and his mom then sexually harass his younger sister,Angel. Gerald could never forgive his mom and didn't call her mama anymore. he called her by her first name, Monique. Once Gerald got older he had become stronger and didn't fear Jordan anymore. He had to be very strong because of all the pain he went through and the bad memories he had. The only part that I didn't like about the book is that it told about Rob's death and repeated some of the things in Tears of a tiger. I didn't tell about how hard it was for Andy and how he killed himself. I recommend this book for people of all ages because it is a book with strong feelings in it and it tells alot about being abused.
Rating: Summary: My Opinion on Forged by Fire Review: I enjoyed reading the book Forged by Fire. It was very exciting and told alot about Gerald's life.I liked all the characters in the book, but I liked Aunt Queen the best because she was a kind and loving person. She had a special place in her heart for everyone. It really told about what alot of abused children have to go through. I really felt sorry for Angel and Gerald. It was a very well written book and I wouldn't mind reading it again. The one thing I didn't like is that it repeated some of the things in Tears of a Tiger and didn't tell about Andy killing himself as it did in Tears of a Tiger. They are both very good books and I wouldn't mind reading more of Sharon Drapers books.
