Rating: Summary: Book review Review: This quick pacing story about a boy named Gerald. A type of sequel to Tears Of a Tiger, is great book to those people who experience various "hardships" in life. I personally recommend it to a mature reader. The scenes where in which little Angel is being molested, is somewhat disgusting. Not the type of book to read to children. The pace of the book seems to be steady. But when it comes to the sections of abuse and molestation things seem to pick up. In 20 pages people are beat, molested, burned and someone dies. Not the type of book for a fairy tale lover. Overall good book!
Rating: Summary: Young and in Pain Review: Forged by Fire by Sharon M. Draper is a very good book it tells about Geral's Aunt who dies and his neglecting mother. His new home with his step fathe who is full of abuse. His step fathers name is Jordan he is a evil man who hurts angel (geral's young step sister).... But in the end Jordan pays for his crime. I loved this book. I teaches teens what is out their.
Rating: Summary: This book is really good! Review: I really like Forged by Fire, the details are so realistic. The book has alot of sad parts, but it also has its good parts.Once I picked it up I couldn't put it down. This book is for anyone who likes to read. I really think everyone should read it.The book is mainly about a boy who's life gets worse as he grows up. When he is little his mom is sent to jail for leaving him all alone. while his mom is gone he starts a fire in the house with a lighter his mom left lying around. From then on he has his ups and downs.
Rating: Summary: This book got fire. Review: Forged by fire is one of the best books I ever read. I never read a book that had as much emotion as this book did. Every time a fliped the page I either felt happy or sad. This book is about a littel boy how gets abused buy his parents at a really young age. His mom gets pregnat and has a baby girl and George(the boy)has to protect her from his stepdad. Along the way George and his sister go threw alot of obstacle, but the best part of the book is the ending.

Rating: Summary: HIGH SCHOOL TEACHER & CLASS LOVES IT! Review: I teach a developmental English class for seniors of mixed races and educational levels. I discovered this book and ordered enough for my class. They LOVED this book! I have never had a whole class (for 1 hour and 40 minutes) sit still and demand to "read on, please!" We are now reading Draper's other books because my students are 'turned on to Draper' and have developed a desire to read...thank you so much Ms. Draper! I love reading with my students, pausing for reflection and hearing my students say that they have experienced such and such! It allows for teens to 'vent' and start talking about their social issues. As a teacher, read it with your class. You will open avenues of discussion that will bring you back to why your teach...your students and their lives! We all loved this book! It has touched our lives forever.
Rating: Summary: This book "got that fire" Review: Forged by fire is a very fine book. It deals with strong issues such as Violence, Drugs, Death, And Sexual Abuse. It handles these situations in a very mature way and deals with consequences of getting involved in such things. Gerald the main Character was a very courageous boy. He had a hard life but tried to make the best of it. Gerald was living with his Aunt since age three and when she died he had no choice but to move in with his mom, sister, and abusive stepdad. This book shows the bond between Gerald and his sister. You will be stronger after reading this book. I could'nt put it down.
Rating: Summary: A Review Review: After reading Forged by Fire by Sharon Draper, I have come to one conclusion: it was pretty boring. Some people might like the type of story where bad stuff happens to good people, but that kind of thing just doesn't interest me. I will admit it was very well written in the strong way the author describes Gerald's mother and then how Angel's father, Jordan Sparks, abused her. I also like how she describes how Gerald sees the flame from his mother's lighter when he is three years old.
Rating: Summary: Best book Review: Ashlie Roberts 01-10-01 3B In my sophomore English class we had to read a book that our teacher chose for us. I pick this one because it just seemed to relate to teenagers and some difficulties growing up. I read 'Forged by Fire' by Sharon M. Draper that is a well-written book. If I were Siskel & Ebert, I would give it two thumbs up! I got the book through an assignment in English class and read the whole thing in one day. I never put it down. It can really relate to life these days and how the world is so messed up. Just thinking about how those kids grow up makes me think of a life I could have had. It shows me how lucky we can be even we don't have a perfect lives. I can feel so much sorrow for someone I don't even know. Its plot and setting and everything seem to fit the problems of today's society. The first chapter shows Gerald, a three-year-old African American boy whose mother is addicted to drugs and leaves him alone all the time. After leaving him by himself one day, he gets a lighter and catches the apartment on fire. Luckily, a neighbor remembers to check for the boy. Gerald almost dies from smoke inhalation. His mother is taken to a drug rehab center; he goes to live with his Aunt Queen. After living nine wonderful years with Aunt Queen, he has a few surprises waiting for him. On his ninth birthday his life goes down hill from then. Gerald who takes responsibilities of his young sister who soon finds out about after living with his mom. For they have many obstacles to go through in life with only themselves to depend on.
Rating: Summary: Forged By Fire Review: Forged By Fire is a very positive book because it is about a young boy, Gerald, 1-11-01 3B who never gives up. No matter what he has to go through he remains strong. When he was just a young boy, his mama abandoned him and he lived with his Aunty Queen. When he lives with her, she gives him the loving he never had, and the life he needs. She raises him until she died. Gerald moves in with his mom, stepfather, and his little sister Angel. Both of the kids had to put up with an abusive life. Jordan is a cold-hearted, evil eyed, strong-smelling, drunk man who beats on both kids and molests Angel. When Gerald can't take Jordan anymore he gets help from his friends' dad who was more like a dad to him than his own. Jordan goes to jail and the kids finally get to live a normal life. His mother, Monique, is mad at the kids for turning Jordan in because she just doesn't want to believe the things Jordan did. After he gets out of jail six years later, Jordan is fine, but Gerald still doesn't trust him. One night Jordan comes home drunk and molests Angel again. The house catches fire but everyone was ok, except for Jordan who dies. Gerald has to go through many difficulties: his mom abandoning him; his Aunty Queen dies; he gets beaten by Jordan; he watches his little sister get molested; he loses Rob in a car wreck; his Mom gets hit by a car; and his house burns down. Still, he is always strong and keeps going on without thinking about giving up.
