Summary: A Sad Childhood
Review: A Review by Bethany
Forged by fire is about a young boy named Gerald who was fascinated by fire, but when he is in a life threatening accident his fascination turns into fear. Gerald was only three when he had to go live with his aunt Queen, because of his mother's drug addictions. Gerald lived with his aunt for most of his childhood. But when his mother showed up with a new husband and a new daughter Gerald's life goes from okay to terrible. Gerald has to deal with a drug abusing mother and a physical abusing step father. But even that is not the worst part of his home life.

The subject in this story was very sad but it kept you reading and wondering how it would turn out, it dealt with real issues that aren't talked about much. And it gives help to people who do deal with the issues talked about in this book. The characters in the book seemed like real people, a lot of their emotions were shown, such as the fear Gerald felt so much throughout his life. The book was very good and very realistic. The author told the story very well, she used words that were easy to understand and the book wasn't too long so it was quick and easy to get through.

I would recommend this book to teens or adults who want a good book to read. This book keeps you guessing, and deals with very realistic matters. It's an easy book to read but some of the subjects may be hard to understand or deal with. This book is very good but also very sad.

Summary: Abusive Life
Review: ...Have you ever been abuse by a adult or you know someone who is been abuse by an adult. Forege by Fire by Sharon Draper you will experience the life a teenager boy who is been abuse by his abusive step dad. This book made me cry at first then rejoice at the ending.
When 9 year old Gerald favorite aunt dies he must to move with his mom, step dad, and his little step sister who always has sad eyes. At his new home he will experience the life his stepsister had already experience. He feels that is his job to save Angel his mom from Jordan (stepfather).
Sharon Draper did an Excellent job Making you feel the character emotions. When you read this book you will feel like you watching a move inside your head. She creates images in your head. For example Angel says "No Gerald, e didn't hurt me, but he scares me so bad." With this incridable worlds you see a scared little girl hugging her brother for a comfort. "Gerald said Nothing for a moment, but stared at Jordan with hatred and pain. His hand clenched in to tight, angry fists, threatened at any moment to explode with purple in Jorden's face." Sharon M. Draper chose to use words that are so simple and understandable. In this quote you can see an angry young man standing front of a a brutal step dad.You can see a real images in your mind in her powerful worlds she chose to use.
The author's massage in this book is not to stand around and wait for the abusive person to change, is to get help before is to late. This massage means a lot to me and the society, because teenagers like myself and others can learn a lesson if they suspect if some one is not treating them right. You can also learn the special relationship between brother and sister. when you finish with this book you thinking about the last book that got you emotion.

Summary: A good book
Review: This book was an excellent book. No wonder it won New Berry Award. Even though the story was told in third person, it was a lot better that way. Gerald had to move in with his mother, Monique, his stepfather, Jordan and his halfsister, Angel. Though he hardly knows Angel he feels he needs to protect especially Jordan who for some reason Gerald can't trust. THe book had so much detail and it makes you feel like your there. I reccommend this to all who are looking for a good book to read.

Summary: A feel-good story inside a not-so-feel-good story
Review: This is a good read. It has something for everyone. There is a story to make you feel good with a teenage boy who is lovingly protective of his half-sister for the person who likes happy stories. For the person who like "overcome all obstacles" stories, there is a story about a girl who survives her father's continuous sexual abuse and her mother's unimaginable apathy with only her half-brother to help her. This is one Coretta Scott King Award-winning book that, in the literary sense, deserves the accolade it received. Good for all people of all races.

Summary: Being strong
Review: The book Forged by Fire by Sharon M. Draper is about a young black boy growing up with a very cold and hurting life. After his aunt dies, who he lived with, he had to move back in with his mom, abusive stepfather, and his half sister Angel, in the real bad part of town, in a cramped little apartment. His life doesn't get better it gets worst, but Gerald stays strong and protects his little sister Angel from the abusive alcoholic Jordan. Sharon Draper did a real awesome job mixing in a lot of realistic drama, and adding real great suspense. The author did well at making the main character Gerald, because she puts so much pain and fear in his life but he keeps up hope and is strong. This is a real great book I think everyone should read it. It shows great morels.

Summary: Great book for All
Review: This book was a great book with a great message. This book involves a boy by the name of Gerald whom has faced hardships since he was a young boy. He had to learn how to walk before he could learn how to crawl. This book talked about a subject that most authors wouldn't talk about child abuse. I love the way Gerald fought to protect his sister and himself from his abusive step-father. I would recommend this book to anyone between the ages of 13 and 21. This book will make anyone greatful that they have a loving and caring family at home to take care of them whenever they need them.

This book tells about domestic violence and how it can effect a younger person for the rest of his/ her life.During this book I learned that there are people in the world who face much greater challenges than I do each day. The book Forged By Fire also shows how thankful that you should be to have a loving family that cares about you.i think that this is wonderful and outstanding book.
