Summary: Thiefing Tips
Review: Can you imagine being chased by a detective and living with thieves? Well, go on a ride with Cornelia Junke's The Thief Lord and do just that. Learn a whole new perspective of exciting! This novel is intertwined with the making of fantasy and a mystery that gives a new twist on reality. As you journey with the Thief Lord and his gang you will meet two boys who are desperate for a home and will eventually find one.
Cornelia Junke has written other books such as Inkheart another children fantasy novel. Winner of the 2003 Mildred L. Batchelder Award, The author of The Thief Lord connects to the reader in what seems to be her love of modern fairytales and suspense. But the main theme that the writer tries to get across is there will always be a place where you belong.
Young children will find this book a little frustrating as the book changes between the two views of the children and the detective. But this gives The Thief Lord the spice it needs to intrigue you. From the very old to the very young this book is a thriller. No one should miss as Cornelia June weaves a maze of thrills, suspense, action and just plain fun. Come and read this enchanting book for the chance to join the chase for the Thief Lord and his gang on their utterly amazing adventures on the outskirts of Venice, Italy.

Summary: among the shadows
Review: The Thief Lord by Cornilia Funke
The book takes place in Vinice,Italy in present time. In Vinice,Italy there is gange of kids including, the Thief Lord, Bo, and Prosper.
In the book Prosper and Bo have run away from their aunt and uncle to Vinice Italy.Aunt Esther finds out that they are in Vinace and she has hired Victor Gets, a detective, to find Bo and return him to her. But then Thief Lord, the gange, Ida, and Victor try to hide Bo from Esther. One of the bigger conflicts in the book is where they go to meet the Count who sends them on a quest to find a wooden wing for five hundred thousand lire.
I thought the book was an excellant book because it had a little twist an suspense. But I really liked it because of the way Cornilia Funke described the setting and the characters; I could make a picture in my head of the setting.
I would recommenend this book The Thief Lord to people who like books with suspense or advinture.

Summary: GREAT!!!!!
Review: Inkheart is the best book I have ever read. I didn't want to put the book down whenever I was reading it, because every part of the book was interesting. It seemed as though I was in the book, like an audience, watching everything happen. The excitement of the book lasts for 534 pages, but I still want to read more.

Summary: Visit the canals of Venice
Review: Bestselling German author Cornelia Funke is finally introduced to American readers with The Thief Lord. The story is set among the almost magical canals of Venice. It tells the unusual adventures of two brothers, Prosper and Bo, as they attempt to make a life for themselves without falling back into the hands of their horrid Aunt Esther. The brothers befriend several other orphans and support themselves with the help of a mysterious boy who calls himself the Thief Lord. Prosper and Bo think they are safely hidden until Prosper runs into Victor Getz, the detective their aunt has hired to find them.

This story could not be set anywhere else. The canals and the less-than-logical layout inherent in an old city are vital to the tale. The genuinely magical twist The Thief Lord takes towards the end of the book fits in beautifully with the character of Venice. Funke has peppered the children's dialogue with Italian words, the meaning of which is easily inferred from the context. However, for anyone who might be confused, there is a glossary at the end of the book.

The characters are likable, their worries easily understood. Aunt Esther is simultaneously horrible and understandable; she is horrid in her total misunderstanding of what children are like and care about, but understandable in that many adults do not know how to interact with young people. Esther is not a caricature of the evil adult because she is not evil, merely mistaken and foolish. The reader will both detest and pity the woman. While many of the events in the story require the children to be self-reliant, they do find trustworthy and kind adults in the end, giving the reassurance to children that there ARE caring and sympathetic grown-ups in the world.

Summary: Not thrilling
Review: This book was definatly not one to brag about. It was written well enough. The story was just boring beond reason. There was not romance, no real action, and no major plot twists. It just seemed a complete, blah. I was expecting something amazing when i picked it um and was greatly disappointed. If you have a lot of free time and nothing to do read this book. But if not i would recomend buying it.

Summary: I've read a million books like this one
Review: Everyone was saying that this was a really good books and that I just HAVE to read it or I'll die, but personally, I think it wasn't that great. I mean, it's your basic story about two orphans who run away and join a gang when their parents die. They have to steal something or else they will be turned into the police, blah, blah... Its only unique element is the magical merry-go-round. I won't say anything about that except: weird, but a little funny. You won't be missing out if you don't read this.

Summary: Looking for a Good Book?
Review: The Thief Lord is an excellant book that I would recommend to everyone. When I first read the back of the book, I assumed it would an over-used cliche about kids who ran away from their evil aunt and uncle- but I was wrong. I have never before read a book about kids living in an abandoned movie theater with a strange band of other children, including one who calls himself "The Thief Lord" and makes a living by stealing. Prosper and Bo are cleaver and elusive. Their aunt could never find them, but a private dective by the name of Victor Getz could! While the kids are trying to escape the dectective, the book takes a sudden turn. The mysterious plot becomes humerous and the reader finds out more about the characters - especially the Their Lord. Whether you are a kid or an adult, you should definatly read this book!

Summary: Amazing New Book for Children and Adults Alike
Review: Twelve-year-old Prosper, and five-year-old Boniface (Bo), are horribly upset when their beloved Mother passes away. But finding out that Bo will be sent to live with his wicked Aunt, and Prosper will be sent to a boarding school is the last straw. The two boys, remembering all of the amazing things that their Mother told them about Venice, Italy, decide to travel there, where they know they will meet up with magical adventures at every turn. So, stowing away on boats, planes, and trains, the two boys make their way to the lovely country, where they are picked up by other orphans, who just happen to be pickpockets. Which is how Prosper and Bo meet up with the infamous Thief Lord. The Thief Lord is a clever, and intelligent boy, who loves making mischief wherever he goes. And while he is kind to the band of street children whom he takes care of, he is also harboring a dark secret about himself. Prosper and Bo soon find themselves on a fantastical journey around a strange country, just like their Mother told them they would.

Cornelia Funke has created an amazing novel that is perfect for both children and adults, just like J.K. Rowling has done with the Harry Potter series. Funke has an amazing way of describing scenery, as well as telling an intriguing story that captures the reader in it's spell. Prosper and Bo are exciting characters, who are intelligent, and witty, and make street life seem better than it actually is. While THE THIEF LORD doesn't feature as many magical happenings as Rowling's HARRY POTTER series, it is very much on the same level in the sense of mysticism and adventure. A must-have book for all, as even the most reluctant readers will be roped into the adventures that Bo, Prosper, the Thief Lord, and the rest of the orphans experience throughout the book.

Summary: thief lord review
Review: The history of the thief lord is about a detective who is called to find two children. In his search he becomes friends with the children and he finds fantasy things in the city of Venecia.
I like this book because it tells many stories, but all are one,the book tells about how the children find friends and how they found a boy who called himself the Thief Lord. It tells how the detective finds firends too and how hard it is to go after the children .The book has many dramas and a little bit of comedy. Some of the things that I dont like is that the story has fantasy about the history of a merry-go-around, but its not a reason not to read the book; I recommend this book because it's fun to read and because it is pretty exciting. You will like this book.
