Summary: Tragedy and misfortune show up everywhere the orphans are.
Review: This is the most tragic book I have read in Lemony Snicket's hilarious A Series Of Unfortunate Events books. The third book, The Wide Window, is probably the most miserable tale of all for the three Baudelaire orphans, and misfortunate just can't stay away from them. When Violet, Klaus, and Sunny are sent to stay with kind old Aunt Josephine in a most unusual house overlooking a hill towering over the watery depths of Lake Lachrymose, home of the venomous Lachrymose Leeches. They don't want to ever encounter their greedy uncle Count Olaf ever again, who has tried to steal their fortune and will never stop until he has it. Just when things look more then unpleasant, their Aunt Josephine mysteriously vanishes into the lake, and the Baudelaires know their poor aunt is a victime of suicide. But the conspiracy that lurks this time for them will be more then sneaky, and now the Baudelaires will have to dodge the greedy hands of a sinister villain once again. This is perhaps the most miserable story in the hilarious series that keeps getting more and more miserable. The author knows perfectly how to make a hysterical but dreadful tale, with a chain of events that will be sure to entertain.

Summary: Brisk, jovial narrative, black humor
Review: Like all the other titles in this series, the reading pace is quick, the narrative witty and wild, and the adventures laced with black humor. You'll be on page 75 without even batting an eye, and enjoying every minute. This particular title is as good as the others, with fearful Aunt Josephine and Captain Sham braving the waters of Lake Lachrymose. Fun stuff!

Summary: the wide window
Review: i thought this was an excellant book. it was so full of action and comedy. like when they had to eat the pepper mints so they could escape from captian sham's (count olaf) clutches for a little while longer. i also liked the part when the leeches attacked the boat.

Summary: THe Wide Window
Review: This is one of my favorite books. The heroes Violet, Klaus and Sunny Baudelaire are going to live with their Aunt Josephine on top of Lake Lachrymose who is afraid of almost everything. (including telephones) Count Olaf comes up and ruins everything (and a bunch of other things) until Sunny ...well, I don't want to ruin the story for you because it will be more interesting. I'll just tell you that you MUST read this book.

Summary: My Favorite Series
Review: This book The Wide Window was one of my favorite books! It was about three orphans who's parents died in a fire. They are sent to live with Aunt Josephine. This is not their first time going to live with a relative. It is their third. In the previous books they live with Mr.Poe. They had to move because of a man named Count Olaf. He is a wicked man! He doesn't care about the children all he wants is their fortune. They are living with Aunt Josephine. Aunt Josephine is afraid of everything.Almost everything she is afraid of is very silly. She Live on a big hill over lake Lachrymose. One day they bump into a man who looks exactly like Count Olaf. He says he is Captain Sham. Of coarse the children know it is him, but they can't convience Aunt Josephine. Can they? I love these series. They are so funny. I think I love them so much because there is always something happening. The orphans are always on some adventure. You can never tell what is going to happen next. When things happen it is always when you least expect it! By:VS

Summary: The best in the series!!
Review: This is the best in the series, next to #5! It is soooo funny! The Baudelaires go to live with their Aunt Josephine, who lives on a hill hanging over Lake Lachrymose. She's afraid of almost everything, and most of her fears are irrational and hilarious. She's afraid of doorknobs, but I'm not going to tell you why, because I'm "afraid" I'd ruin that part for you. Even the 5th time reading it, it's hilarious. Count Olaf comes back again, only this time he's Captain Julio Sham, and his scheme this time is better than his last two. A must read!

Summary: Outstanding!
Review: "Outstanding" is a term which, when used here means"really, good, great, entertaining - and more than initially meets the eye." Be sure to read the dedications - and as the volumes continue: what, if anything, did Cout Olaf have to do with Beatrice? Why is the writer "compelled" to write this tale?I am sure the answers to these questons will be revealed as the saga continues... For me, money very well-spent for an entertaining, well-written, totally-original two hour read. Those of you who haveread the books will understand the structure of my first sentence.

Summary: With a name like Lemony Snicket, how could this book be bad?
Review: Hooray for the Series of Unfortunate Events! This is definitely one of my favorite series (if not my favorite). I love the funny ways the author words his sentences, makes fun of adults, and breaks almost every rule in the "Good Writing Tips" section of my grammar book. In this third book, the three unfortunate orphans are visiting their Aunt Josephine, who is afraid of everything, especially realtors. But, of course, evil Count Olaf (Boo! Hiss!) catches up with them, and Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire have to thwart his next plan to get their fortune. But the main question is, will Aunt Josephine survive the ordeal? Or will she discover the same fate as Uncle Monty in the previous book?

I didn't think this book was as good as the first two, but I still love it, think it's great, and give it five stars. Hopefully, you will too, and if you do, some other books similar to "The Wide Window" are "Matilda" by Roald Dahl, "The Twin in the Tavern" by Barbara Brooks Wallace, and "Half Magic" by Edward Eager.

Summary: Is there a shred of hope for the three orphans?
Review: In this book things go down hill from the first few pages. The three clever orphans go to live with there Aunt only to find out that she dosen't understand children at all. She's afraid of virtually anything and is obessed with grammer. When Count Oalf shows up how will she react? I love this book, and in my opinion it's one of the best in the series. If you love funny, witty tales that don't nessicarily have the happiest ending in the world this book is for you. Lemony Snicket once again delivers a great book. I reccomend it to any fans of the series.
