Summary: CLIFFS AP European History
Review: Although Cliffs AP "European History" may not be the best review book for the AP exam, it is an excellent review book for any high school history student. I did not sign up for the AP Euro class at my school, but I am planning on taking the test in May. For that reason, I bought several review books. I ended up using this book to help me through my "World History II" course, and it was a great resource for completing homework assignments and essays. I highly recommend this to the basic history student. When I get my test scores next summer, I'll update you on how much this book helped me on the actual AP exam.

Summary: I study everyday with this book since December and failed!
Review: I am a student of Galileo in San Francisco. I have been studying for the AP test since December. I used this book everyday and memorized the timelines and almost the entire book from left to right. On test day, I was f-cked by all the questions. The book's tests were too easy and the review turned out to be too general to do well on the AP test. I recommend reading and memorizing the notes you take from your teacher since they are almost always 1000 times more helpful than this book.

Summary: A Big Help
Review: I finally got my hands on this book one week before the National exam, and sped through it in time. It was very informative, well laid out, and the practice sections were superb. There were even a few questions in the practice exam that I had no idea about, but then they showed up on the exam and I nailed them! Thanks to this book, in supplement with the class, I passed the test (as a sophomore in high school)!!

Summary: Should not be totally depended upon
Review: It is extremely difficult to find the perfect European History review book, and this one is not perfect. But the review section was the best I encountered, and I had borrowed from friends the Barron's, REA, and I also read the Princeton Review that my teacher recommended we buy. I found the Princeton Review's review sections too long, and the breakdowns too general. Every review section in Cliffs is broken down very methodically, stressing key concepts. The one thing that I did not like about Cliffs was that the questions were WAY too easy...a first grader could answer them. But I am giving it 5 stars because the review is awesome...Also, if you are one of those people who always relies on cramming, the logical and easy to follow breakdown seems good for that...If you want great, hard questions, use REA and Barron's, and Princeton Review's are good too...But for review...definitely Cliffs...I used a combination of different books in addition to my textbook...Just do your research and find out which book best suits your style...for me, it was Cliffs and I credit it with helping me score a "5"!

Summary: Great review book despite some mistakes
Review: Just took the AP Euro exam today- this books is perfect. It is not too long, filled with just the right amount of details, and is very easy to read. Since it is the first Euro review books from Cliffs, there are many mistakes such as when it says, "In France, the reign of Louis XI (1643-1715) symbolized absolutism at its height." Other mistakes include mixing up Descartes and Bacon and their respective methods, as well as various errors in the spelling of names such as Piazza instead of Pizarro, the conqueror of the Incas. If you know your stuff, though, you should be easily able to point these out and it will actually serve as some humor during those long hours of review. The multiple choice questions are much easier in the book than on the exam and the DBQ's and free-response do not require the same level of analysis as on the exam. However, this book has an excellent review section and knowing the FACTS will get you a 5. Feel like I got a 4 or a 5- I'll find out in July!

Summary: The weakest of the review books
Review: My friends and I each got different AP Euro review books for the exam. I had the bad luck to get the Cliffs. We used them all for our study sessions. We all decided that Cliffs was the all time worst!

It's like its for remedial not AP students. Too simple questions. Bad writing. Sketchy history review notes.

We read the great review somebody in PA wrote and decided it must have been the author's relative.
