Summary: Very Good Book
Review: I really enjoyed this book. It was about a dark city whose citizens seem to be unaware that the city is running out of supplies. The people have to get out of the city at a certain year, but the instructions on how to leave got misplaced, and no one knew they existed.
The book was very good, it was interesting to hear about a society that does not have alot of stuff that we do today. Sometimes the book would go a little bit to fast. If the auther had slowed down and described it more that would have helped people understand the city and the story. But it was a fun adventure and i can't wait untill the sequel comes out!

Summary: This is a great book for adventurers.
Review: The City of Ember is about two teenage kids. They are trying to find a way out of the town they live in because after the town's lights, there is complete darkness. They both have jobs for the town. Doon works in the pipe works where the river runs the generator which creates electric for the town. Lina is a messenger. She takes messages from person to person. They want to find there way out of the town becuase the generator is breaking down and no one wants to be stuck in complete darkness. Join Doon and Lina on this action packed adventure.

I liked this book very much. It was action packed and kept me wanting to read. The middle was the very best part of the book. This was when they were searching for the way out of Ember.

What I didn't like about the book was the ending and also it took awhile for the book to get into the flow of things at the beginnig.

Summary: Interesting but...
Review: I enjoyed this book. It's short, moves quickly and has a fascinating, original premise. The characters are a little iffy though and the characterisation shallow. My other problem was the lack of tension. We know from the start what Ember is and what the children are going to find. I'm not sure why the author gave away so much of the story up front. It's a welcome relief from magic, dragons and all the rest though.

Summary: Very, very interesting!
Review: My little sister bought this boko through the book order from school. It had a really interesting cover, so I thought I'd try reading it. I expected it to be a very typical pre-teen book, with simple writing and a cookie cutter plot. While the writing was a little too simple for me, I thought the story-line was amazing. This book had the most original plot that I've read in years, it seems all new books that come out are just more of the same but this one was definitly unique. I also love conspiracys and the whole "government is evil" deal, so this definitly suited my needs. But I'd definitly say pick up this book, it will give you a lot to think about!

Summary: Pretty Good Start
Review: Although I really liked the concept of this story, I was somewhat disappointed by the characters which seemed rather dry and underdeveloped. The dialog just struck me as being rather bland and trite. I was also hoping for a greater level of character detail, more like what was given to the city itself. This lack of depth somewhat prevented me from emotionally investing myself in the plight of Lina; at least not to the extent of, for instance, Lyra of Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy. That said, I still found it to be an enjoyable read with an imaginative concept. The City of Ember is a promising beginning and I look forward to an even better, richer sequel.

Summary: Awesome book!!
Review: I read this book in a few hours!! Doon and whatever her name is live in a city lit by lights. Their knowledge is very small compared to us. They eat only canned food from the storage rooms the builders gave them. The builders r the ones they call who built this city. The kids go to school until the age of 12 then they get a job. Doon gets messenger which lina wanted , but she got pipeworks, one of the worst jobs to her. They end up trading and discover important papers written long, long ago. Doon and lina start to figuring out the way out of the city.

Summary: Light up your day!
Review: This book was wonderful to read, never dull, never slow. You'll love the characters and the things they do and you'll love its simple, fantasy plot. It's intriguing and adventurous without being needlessly complicated. I can't wait for the sequel to be released!

Summary: Very good.
Review: This was a very good book. Well written and insightful. It seemed to drag on a bit too much at some points but on the whole, it kept me interested. I definitely recommend it.

Summary: Great Plot and Amazing Concept
Review: This book has a great plot and a very creative basic concept. I still wouldn't classify it as Science-Fiction even though it has somewhat of a Sci-Fi look to it, but I wouldn't classify it as fantisy either because it really doesn't have any "magic" in it. I would say it has a category all its own like many of this sort of books (I just made a paradox, didn't I). Even so, I can't really describe it. I just can't wait for the sequil.
