Rating: Summary: SAT SUCCESS Review: This book was a terrific source for studying for the SATs. It was an interesting read, easy to read, and an all around excellent guide for tackling the SATs. My son's scores increased by 200 points thanks to Boot Camp for Your Brain.
Rating: Summary: Great Investment! Very Helpful Review: "Bootcamp" is easy to understand and well written. The Math section helped because it includes exactly what's on the test. (I missed only one problem in the Math section!) The Vocabulary words are helpful. Many of the "Top 100 Words" were on the test. Compared to the cost of a SAT prep course this book is excellent value. The author, Ms. Manning, is so willing to help with additional suggestions beyond what she provides in her book.
Rating: Summary: Great Book Wonderful Person Review: I must preface this review with that I have known the author for over 15 years. That said, when it came for time for my own son to need to prepare for the SATs there was no one that I felt would be more effective than Marcy. My son was never one that scored particularly well on comprehensive tests so the SATs were a concern. By utilizing Marcy's book, taking her course, and practice my son raised his SATs scores over 200 points and was able to get into his first choice for engineering college. Boot Camp for Your Brain is an engaging, witty, and effective guide for SAT preparation and makes for a great pragmatic outline for study. You will not be disappointed with this book's results!
Rating: Summary: This book raised my score by 160 points! Review: I studied this book and followed the author's recommendations. The Math Section alone was invaluable as my score increased 120 points after studying the Math Facts and working the problems. My verbal score also increased 40 points as I studied the 100 vocabulary words.
I had previously done a Princeton Review study guide and raised my score slightly but nothing like the tremendous increase I saw from Marcy Manning's book.
Rating: Summary: Worth Your Time and Money! Review: This book has raised my SAT score 160 points, and it is essential in acing the SAT. The book covers the SAT fully and it gives you helpful hints that can save your score on the SAT's.
Rating: Summary: Worth the money! Review: I brought this book (and "10 Real SATs") for my niece to study during her summer break. She just called to tell me that her SAT score went up 150 points.
Rating: Summary: You NEED This Book for the SAT I! Review: Without a doubt, Mrs. Manning's Boot Camp for Your Brain helped me in improving my SAT I scores. Before studying, doing practice tests and reading the book thoroughly, my score was a 1060. I just took the SAT I in December 2004 and got a 1210! That's 150 points.
I don't think I would have been able to get the scores I did without this book. In addition to having all the facts you need to know before taking the SAT I, it includes helpful tips and is written in a very easy to read and absorb way. It didn't even take that long for me to get through. It was far from boring and actually made studying fun.
I highly recommend this book. It is a must-have if you're preparing for the SAT I. It takes a lot of time and work to get ready for the SAT I, but Boot Camp will help you get the scores you want. Definitely a 5 star book!
