I started reading Tamora Pierce's books only about a year ago. After I read one book I was thrilled to find I had found an author I liked that had writen more then one book. I immediately bought and enjoyed all of her books. If you have not read any of her other series I sujest you go buy them for you wont regret it.Her books are a must read. I re-read her books quite fequantly and I will continue to I am sure. If you dont buy this book you are missing out.
Rating: Summary: Another great addition to the Tortall books! Review: like all the other tamora pierce books this one is no excepion. alannas daughter alianne is now a teenager and wants to become a spy like her dad george cooper. both parents say no and she basically runs away to begin her own career by herself. gets captured by pirates and sold as a slave into a family and while being the maid as such, she still manages to keep her identity secret, fall in love with a crow turned boy and save the day!!! it also includes some of the original characters including Daine, Numair (with a little surprise!!) and all your other favourites. a great book and i eagerly await the next one to be called Tricksters Queen which will be coming out in October 2004.
Rating: Summary: Couldn't put it down Review: I really couldn't, this book is excellent! I kept wanting Dove and Sarai to find out her parentage, since they wanted to know so much about Alanna, but no. Next book! When Alianne, or Aly, daughter of Alanna the Lioness leaves home, she misfigures a vital piece to her plan - pirates. Pirates capture her, shave her bald, and sell her as a slave. To prevent being sold as a 'bed-warmer' (someone for the master to sleep with), she dives into danger to become damaged. She is finally thrown into a deal free, and becomes part of a kind family - one that is in the misfavor of the king. She becomes chosen by a trickster god to protect the children of the family. The climax rises, especially when a crow turned human just learning about romance decides he wants Aly for his mate. A must read!
Rating: Summary: Really good, but not the best of Tamora Pierce Review: First off I would like to say that was a very good book that I enjoyed reading, but it definately did not measure up to Song of the Lioness or the Immortals. the main reason I think is because it lacked action until the very end of the book. The other series were packed with action, so it was a bit of a disappointment
Rating: Summary: woahhhh Review: this book was as fantastic as tamora pierces many other books. as soon as I heard it was out, I ran to the nearest bookstore to buy it. I love her books because they deal with maturity, and have strong female roles. this book deseres five stars!
Rating: Summary: EXCELLENT Review: In "Trickster's Choice," Tamora Pierce takes us back to Tortall and introduces us to Alanna and George's daughter, Alianne. Aly is a very believable and well-rounded person. It's nice to see a major character who fights with her mother, has difficulty figuring out where she belongs, and is not unusually gifted, strong or a demigoddess. It was especially nice to see old friends. The only problem is now I have to wait a year for the sequel! Another terrific book from the wonderful Tamora Pierce.
Rating: Summary: Take a bow Pierce, you've done it again Review: I love all of Tamora Pierce's books and this chapter of the Tortall era is no exception. Aly (Alianne) starts off this two part series with a blueberry-blue head and a plea for work as a spy. This particular plea is adressed to her father Baron George Cooper and later to her mother Alanna, the Lioness. Aly is on shakey ground with her mother, though throughout the book the trickster god Kyprioth (who inlists her aide in gaining control of his kingdom behind the backs of the Great Mother Godess and Mithros)shows her how much Alanna really cares. She gets caught by pirates, sold to a noble family, aides a revolution between raka and luarin, falls in love with a crow turned man, finds her calling, does some major spywork, and still keeps her identity and status a secret. If your looking for a lot of kick-butt fighting sceanes, magical battles or struggle to be accepted as in Pierce's pre-Aly books, watch out because Aly is her own person with very little magic, insecurity, or major fighting skills. Pay close attention to Daine and 'Uncle Numy's new baby, the fact that all the children of Alanna and George are named after Alanna's family [Thom, Alan (Aly's twin),and of course Alianne], and also the discription of the great mother godess. All in all this book is totally awesome. Go and Buy it!!!
Rating: Summary: Another great series by Tamora Pierce Review: From the time when I was eleven and first picked up a Tamora Pierce book I was enthralled. All of her series are books that I will read over and over again. This book is no acception. In this story of stelth and intreage 16 year old Alianne, or Aly, daughter of the famous Lioness an a retired Theif Lord is desperately trying to get her parents to allow her to become a spy. Aly gets her wish when she is captured by pirates and sold to the Balitang family as a slave. Her only thoughts are of escape until a local god makes a wager with her to keep the family safe. However, the longer Aly stays wih them, the more she comes to care for the family. What will Aly do? So sorry that I can't tell you. It would ruin it you know. Anyway , just take my word for it and buy the book. You won't be dissapointed. :-)
Rating: Summary: Read it! Review: I was dissapointed by Pierce's most recent books, especially the Circle Opens quartet. However, in this book Pierce comes back, better than ever. In the Song of the Lioness, Pierce wrote a beuatiful story of knighthood and triumph, but Pierce has aged, and has presented us with the story of her daughter, who is not a national hero but is nevertheless responsible for as much as her mother is. The crowning scene of the book is the naming day of Diane's daughter, when Pierce finds words to express the idea that has run through every story she has ever written. But I won't give any spoilers! The book also presents a good deal of political intrigue, mixed up relations with the gods, and romance. I think it is 10 and up, but this should not stop high school students from reading it, because it is probably at its best in their hands.
Rating: Summary: What is it about Tamora Pierce? Review: She has done it again and I hope she keeps doing it. I started Tamora Pierce's books when I was ten or eleven, needless to say I am no longer that young, but her stories still manage to keep a hold on me. I loved Trickster's Choice. It held my attention more than Kel's series and I am anxiously awaiting the next book. While I didn't re-read this book over and over like I did with Wild Magic, its still really awesome. If you're looking for a fun, easy, and exciting read, go with Pierce. She won't dissapoint.
