Summary: An Enjoyable Renaissance
Review: Tamora Pierce has been one of my favorite writers for years and it is a pleasure to see a new series emerge that has a potential to equal her earlier ones. The myth and magic that all but disappeared from the Kel series returns, weaving a satisfying blend of Alanna's sword and sorcery with Daine's nature magic to create a solid fabric for this world. Aly, our main character, is herself an excellent mix of her parents' traits - Alanna's determination and self-assurance as well as George's talents and sense of humor (and inner ham). A book more of intrigue than action, Trickster's Choice is a refreshing change and is well-paced; the intrigue is neither over-involved nor tedious. After being somewhat disappointed with Pierce's last two series (Protector of the Small & Circle Opens), I found this a delightful reminder of the enjoyable books this author is capable of.

Summary: A wonderful addition!
Review: I've loved Tamora Pierce's books about Alanna, the Lady Knight of Tortall for nearly fifteen years, ever since I picked up her first book, "Alanna: The First Adventure" as a sixth grader. Featuring Aly, Alanna's daughter, "Trickster's Choice" is a wonderful addition to the world that first captured my imagination, full of the delightful details and careful plotting that Tamora Pierce is so skilled at. I loved getting to know Aly and her careful, crafty character as she makes her through the dangerous and unfamiliar land of the Copper Isles, Tortall's unstable neighbor. Aly's adventures introduce a host of interesting new characters, as well as catch the reader up with many beloved characters from Tamora Pierce's other books. I enjoyed "Trickster's Choice," and I can hardly wait for its sequel.

Summary: exceptional
Review: Tamora pierce has been my favorite author since I read her first book Alanna, I have loved each and every one of the books of hers that I have read, and I believe that I own them all, but I could be wrong. I was really excited when I found out that there was a book coming out about Alanna's daughter, I waited and waited for it to come out in hard back, (normally I get paperback books, but for one of Tamora Pierces, I made an exception) I was amazed when I got the book for christmas, and I read it that very night. It was a book that was able to lift me off of my feet and pull me right into it's pages as if I was the shadow of Aly herself, following her around, and even feeling some of the things that she had felt. That's how great it was! I loved how it was a book that was hard to predict, something that would keep me reading to the very end. I cant wait until the second book about Aly comes out! Yay, another book about Aly!!!

Summary: Tamora Pierce's best fantasy to date
Review: I loved this book and have already re-read it.
I enjoyed it just as much on the third reading as the first.

The book returns to the world of Tortall with the story of Alianne (called Aly), the daughter of Alanna and George Cooper.
It gives us glimpses of what is happening with other characters in Tortall while introducing us to a new part of the world, the Copper Isles. Aly definitely takes after her father. Aly takes those things she learned from her parents and applies them when she is kidnapped and sold as a slave in the Copper Isles. Aly is not a typical slave. She makes a deal with a god to keep the children of her owners safe. While this book has plenty of action, it also shows Aly thinking about her relationships with others.

My favorite Tamora Pierce book before this was Wild Magic. Here is another young girl who knows how to stand on her own.

Summary: Great book!
Review: After i finished reading The Song of the Lioness quartet, the Immortals quartet, and the Protecter of the small quartet, I just kept reading them over and over for two reasons. One: i thought they were excellent books, and two: i didn't have any thing else to read. when i found out tamora pierce was making two more books about Alanna the Lioness's daughter, i was very exciter. the books were Tricksters Choice and Tricksters Queen (which will be comming out in october 2004).

Tricksters Choice is about a girl named Alianne, (a.k.a Aly) who is a daughter to her mother, Alanna, the most famous knight in all the Eastern Lands, and her father, George, the realms 2nd most important spy. Alianne gets capured by pirates and sold to a noble family in the copper isles, The Balitangs, as a slave. She makes a wager with a god of the Copper Isles, Kyprioth (a.k.a the trickster) to keep the children of the balitang family alive through the summer. in exchange he will write a note to her father letting her be a spy, which is what she really wants to be. this book is about her adventures and i reccomend it,

Summary: Disappointing...
Review: I have always loved Tamora Pierce. I've furiously read every book she has ever written, my favorite being Song of the Lioness. So it is reasonable to say that when I spotted Trickster's Choice, I was overjoyed without even knowing that the main character was Alanna's daughter. But it was completely disapointing. Where Alanna and Dane had capture my imagionation and left me begging for more, Trickster's Choice had left me with nothing of the sort. It wasn't a particularlly bad novel, but it wasn't something I'd expect from Tamora Pierce where everything else had left me breathless.

Summary: Tamora Pierce's "Trickster's Choice"
Review: Tamora Pierce captivates us all once again with "Trickster's Choice". As one of the final books in all three series she's written, and reading about all of the same characters, with additional ones, was incredible. With every turn of the page, we follow Alanna's daughter, Alianne of Pirates Swoop, through running away, slavery, magic, and helping a family make it through a summer. Along the way we meet Kyprioth, the God of tricks and trouble, and the characters who soon become her allies to fulfill the wager Kyprioth and Aly have created. I personally couldn't place the book down because of the suspense and excellent writing Pierce presents to us. Pierce writes in 3rd person, allowing the expression of thoughts for all characters of the book, pinpointing Aly's specifically. If medieval times and suspense imprison you within the pages as it does to me, then you would unquestionably adore and reread this book. Tamora Pierce also foreshadows in odd ways that you pick up on after you read the book. Before she starts another chapter she will write a passage that was written to Aly, or was in a book that Aly read, yet has to do with the next chapter. Another way of foreshadowing is when Kyprioth brings her back to Tortall in her dreams, or even when she's awake, to witness current events or ones she's already lived through. In her writing, Pierce describes the settings with explicit detail, illustrating every nook and cranny known to the characters. The strangely named characters continue to mystify you with their personalities and personas as she meets all of them, gaining their trust and taking their jokes as they come and go. For once, Alanna the King's Champion and Lioness of Pirates Swoop, is powerless to finding her daughter. I fell that this book also teaches teenagers of my age about the result of running away. Many things are bound to happen. For example, Aly is captured by slave dealers and sold to the Duke and Duchess as the one who will help them through the hard times of being banned from their home. As the outcome, she meets this God and wagers with him to help the Balitangs make it through the summer so she can set off to her home again. I don't consider this a popular book, but if this can convince at least ten people into reading it, it soon will be. I would definitely consider this a number one book on MY list.

Summary: Takes you away
Review: Tamora Pierce brings her characters to life in Trickster's Choice. I thoroughly enjoyed my journey to the magical medieval realm of Tortall. I can't wait for the next installment of Aly's captivating adventures.

Summary: Writtin With a Twist: A Bad One
Review: When I was younger, I loved Tamora Pierce. I devoured every book she wrote with an innocent intensity only characteristic of children anymore, but now that I have matured more, I read this book, expecting it to be fabulous like the others. I was wrong. Not only was I wrong that this one was not fabulous, but I was also wrong about all the others being fabulous. Tamora Pierce is excellent with plot, but her writing falls a little short of the mark. While I was young, I had no judging eye for well-written books and what young children really like is just something that keeps me captivated. The problem is, now when I read the books, every sentence falls flat with a groan of agony. This book is not good. Now if all of you just think I am an annoying adult, it's not true. I'm talking about realizing this now, and I am thirteen years old. If a thirteen year old can recognize bad writing, shouldn't you be able to?

Summary: The Greatness Continues
Review: This book is fabulous, usually continuations involving the main character's children leave something to be desired but all thats to be desired this time is the next book in the series! Alanna's daughter Aly has never been able to quite find her place in the world. Her only gift seems to be for spy work which her parents have forbidden her. With a little help from a certain God and a lot of bad luck Aly falls into a great adventure that may be the making of her.
