Summary: CUT IT OUT!
Review: My best friend lended me this book and I thought "Oh great! A book telling me about some girl with problems! Just what I need! To be reminded of my depressing life!" but I took it and since I was bored, I started reading it and couldn't put it down. It really gave me a better understanding about "cutting" and also about other emotional problems and I recommend it to all teens who sometimes feel like things are thier fault or feel lonely.
Next time, I'll just take my friends opinion and read things. I really need to CUT that habit of judging books.

Summary: Creating a contrived "cutter" does nothing but harm
Review: Look, i don't want to be really mean or anything. I just feel I really have to write a little review of this after seeing all these good reviews. I cut myself for four years, from 14 to 18. I know what it's about, I know why people do it. I have talked to so many others that have gone through the same things. Almost the only thing i found affirming, empowering in this book was the thought, about half way through, that I, too, could be a published author. And one with a little authenticity as well. Maybe I'm the only one, but I just got the feeling, from start to finish, that the author had never watched blood seep up through her skin, never waited those moments between the cutting and the release. Additionally, there are at least three jokes in this book taken almost, if not, word for word from "Girl, Interrupted." This book, "Cut," was about as genuine as the episode of 7th Heaven that dealt with the same subject. If you are struggling with this, if you are looking for some understanding, a little illumination, or, if you are a friend of someone who cuts themselves, or even if you are just looking for a book on this subject, look somewhere, ANYWHERE else. You will find no help, you will be unable to GIVE any help based on anything in this book. I'm not sure who was involved in letting this thing out, but perhaps they should reevaluate their criteria, not to mention their careers. As for the author, if in fact she never has cut herself, I would suggest she look, in the future, towards her own experience, rather than co-opting a serious issue that afflicts so many. It is already misunderstood enough. Cutting does not need this sort of false publicity, this pseudo-understanding, this ingenuous "creativity."

Summary: Emotional and orginal
Review: 15-year-old Callie has been institutionalized for what she's doing to herself. She cuts her wrists, arms, and hands and she doesn't know why. It could be her parents who don't know how to deal or her brother who is very sick or maybe something else. She doesn't know. But she's not willing to ask for help. In fact she's not talking at all. She doesn't say a single word in therapy, or group therapy where both girls with eating disorders, and drug addictions talk about their problems. As Callie starts to come out of her shell and speak in therapy a new girl comes to the clinic who cuts herself and shows off her scars with pride. Cut is amazing book about an issue that is rarely dealt with in teenage literature but is often dealt with in real life. If you enjoyed books such as Girl interupted and want to learn more about self mutilation and mental hospitals, or just read a great YA book, this is for you. I reccomend this to anyone who's a fan of realistic teenage books.

Summary: Wonderfully Written and Very Powerful!
Review: I loved this book! As a previous cutter, this book really hit home with how I felt. I did not want to stop reading it but sometimes just had to as the book hits intense moments. It is very thought provoking and deals with life-like characters. The diseases in this book, and Patricia McCormick's wonderful use of detail make this book perfect for ages 13 to adult. Even though it's younger reading, I wouldn't let a 10 year old read it. But all in all, wonderful. One of the best books I have ever read, and I have read a LOT of books, and have loved almost all of them! This book should be required reading for highschoolers! :)

Summary: filled with gritty reality.
Review: this book, well, i read it in two days and it was awesome. it really made me see how much that can hurt someone emotionally to see you doing it and how desperate and upset some people are..and that it does feel good and maybe that's just their own personal way to let stress out. so, check this out, you know you wanna. it's an experience you'll never forget.

Summary: way better than i thought
Review: i had to pick a young adult book for my book report, and i was upset, because i normally read adult books, like the bell jar and valley of the dolls. when i started tis book i was glad that i had to choose a young adult book. i thought it would be censored for the age group it is directed at, but i think this book is great for anybody to read. it was very real, and easy to follow. it was just as good as the bell jar and it was a lot quicker to read. i wish there were more books like this.

Summary: "cut" is so true, so true....
Review: I had to pick a book on choices for my English project. So I looked through the stack our teacher had selected and came upon this one and knew instantly that it was the one for me. You see, my locker partner is going through the same issues as Callie was. She cut herself, but wouldn't talk about why she did it. Only when my locker partner finally understood that I was there for her did she open up and got help. This book deeply touched me not only for the issues it delt with, but how she solved them. It helped me understand what my locker partner was going through, and how to help her.

"cut" is a emotional rollercoaster that will take you throuh the ups and far downs of Callie's difficult life. I truely recommend this book to everyone who is dealing with a difficult decision in their life, and even to those who don't, you may come upon one anyways.

Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Review: I read cut in a single setting. I do what Callie does, I cut myself. This book made me realize that I am not the only one self-mutilates, there are many people out there who do the same thing I do. While reading this book, I could feel my emotions, and I could relate them to her's. This was a beautifuly written book.

Review: This book was mind blowing. I have the same problem as Callie, I cut myself, for the same reasons as she does. I recommend this to all, especially those who have a friend or family member who cuts. In this book, you can see and feel our emotions. It hit home and showed me that I'm not alone. It gave me hope and strength, it was a emotional book. Read it!!!!
