Summary: freedom...gone
Review: A world where no more than 2 kids are allowed in a family. This book is great, it is a page turner. Once you start the book you cannot stop reading it. It is an easy reading book, so all the people who wants hard books this might not be the best book. Even though the plot is quite simple, but it isn't as simple as you think. This story is about a kid who listens to his parents and does everything thing they say. He never goes out of his house because of the population police, because of that he never went go to school before. He's allowed to go out, to make friends, until one day, when he meets this another shadow kid, a kid who never follows the rules...his story changes.

Imagine yourself being a shadow kid, who is never allowed to go out into the sun. Instead you stay in this little room doing the same old things day after day. Your freedom is just gone, took away at the time you are born. Would you hate the law, or would you hate your parents more? Would you wonder why your parents gave birth and bought you to the world to suffer and hate them? Or would you hate the law more for not allowing you to exist because if you live they are going to run out of food and die?

So are you a third/fourth... child?

It's the law that you cannot have 3 children or more. I liked the book because you never knew what would happen next. The third child is called the shadow child. If the Population Police finds them, that would be awful and they have to die. Would they survive?

Summary: Among the Hidden
Review: Among the Hidden is a good book! Luke Garner is the third child in the book Among the Hidden. In this book it's against the law to have more than two kids. So Luke had to hide his whole live. He couldn't go to school or watch t.v. the only thing he could do was go outside. The reason he could go outside is because the woods covered his backyard. That was until the woods got cut down so houses could be built for rich people. After the houses were built Luke herd things coming from the house next door when no one was home. So he went in the house and saw a girl playing with her toys. They both became friends. I really recommend this book for everybody.

Summary: Exciting
Review: It was against the law to have more than two children. Luke Garner, the main character in AMONG THE HIDDEN, by Margaret Peterson Haddix, is a third child. He had to hide all his life. He couldn't go to school ride in cars, watch TV or even use the computer. At least Luke could go outside because the woods were protecting his backyard from sight. That is, before the woods came down. The barons(rich people) built their houses where the woods used to be. Luke could never set a foot outside again, he couldn't even look out a window. One day, after everyone had left, Luke saw a child's face in one of the new neighbor's houses. The only thing was, two children already had left that house. Luke starts watching more carefully and realizes another child luves where two children already live. Could it possibly be another third child? Does he dare venture over there, through the exposed farm, where anybody could see him? I liked this book, like Running Out of Time(another book by Margaret Peterson Haddix),because it was exciting. It starts slow but gets better as it goes on. Each event led to another, and kept you on the edge. Margaret Peterson Haddix did a good job of making the book suspenseful and it makes you want to keep reading.

Summary: Teens, don't like reading? Then this book is for you!
Review: This book is the best book for teens! Myself, not being a big reader, loved this book! Out of all the books I have ever read this book is a little behind my favorite, "Number the Stars." This book intrigued me from the first to the last word! Every page held me in great suspense that made me wish that it went on forever(no matter how many pages)! I enjoyed this book so much that I am excited to read the sequel(which is nearly unheard of for me)! "Among the Hidden" is filled with mixed emotions and never-ending interest! This book is perfect for both genders and teens! I loved this book! Try this book, I bet you will like it!

Summary: Among the Hidden
Review: Among the Hidden is a sad, twisted story of America's history-to-be. Margaret Peterson Haddix (the author of the book) tells in detail how the characters in the book react. I, personally, have not read any of Margaret's other books, but I was amazed on how Among the Hidden turned out. Throughout the story, the author was able to give each character a different personality. Even if it meant risking their life? One of the most important characters in the book is Luke Garner. Luke likes playing games with his brother, baking pies with his mother and hates doing his chores. Yet, Luke is different from everyone else in his family, Luke is illegal. Each family (in the future) is only allowed to have two children to a family. All other children are forbidden and would be killed, if found. In Luke's case, he is a third child to his family, also known as a shadow child. Not once has Luke been able to go to school, have a birthday, or go to a friend's house. In fact, he has no friends. But how long can you keep a 12 year old boy locked up inside? Luke lives on a farm out in the woods with his family, while his father grows crops to eat and pigs to raise. They bought the land far away from everyone so Luke could go out at times without being seen. But what would happen if the trees were cut down to build houses? Would anyone suspect that the Garner family had a third child? Then, one day Luke peers out a vent, to see another child's face! Yet, he knew that family had already had two older children. Would he risk being seen to meet another third child? Maybe even helping this third child come out of the shadows? I think this story was very good. The author of the book was able to hold me in suspense. The only think that bothered me was how the book ended. How jen died, Trying to prove to the world that third children should have a right to live. This story shows bravery and sadness.
