Rating: Summary: Among the Hidden, A GREAT BOOK!! Review: I am a 13 year-old, and to tell you the truth, I am not really into sci-fi type books. I had heard about this book, so I decided to read it. I finished the day I got it. Margaret Peterson Haddix descibes the setting wonderfully. In a world were youu are only allowed to have to children, Luke lives with his family, stuck inside all day. Then he meets Jen, who tells him about all the other third children that are connected by an internet chatroom. Jen tells him how she is planning a rally against the Government, to make third children legal. This book is wonderfully written. I had read Just Ella and Running Out of Time by the same author, so I knew this would be great!
Rating: Summary: Really astonishing Review: Luke is a third child. Third children are forbidden to exist. So what happens if anyone ever finds out about him and reports him to the population police? The punishment is death. Luke lived an okay life even so, because his family has a farm, surrounded by woods, so he can still go outside, just not into town. But then, the woods are cut down to make way for houses for the wealthy barons. Now Luke has to stay inside, and soon his parents tell him that he can't even go into the rest of the house in case someone sees him through the window. Luke has the brilliant idea to pull down the shades and do house work and make dinner, but his father, upon finding out, tells him he can't, because someone might get suspicious if they saw the blinds pulled down all the time. Confined to his room in the attic, and bored (well, naturally!), Luke takes to looking out the vent near the ceiling at the goings on of the poeple who live in the newly built houses near him. Soon, he even recognizes the people in each of the houses. That's when he starts to notice wierd things in the house nearest his. The television set on when he has already seen all the people who live in that house leave for the day, and other small things. Then, one day Luke thinks he sees a face in a window. Could he have found another third child? Should he risk death to find out? He does, and meets Jen, why is, indeed, another third child, but quite the opposite from Luke. Then she tells him about a plan she has to help all third children out of the shadows into the open. It seems dangerous to Luke, but is it fair to let others gain his freedom for him? I REALLY loved this book. While it has a sort of bitter ending, it's not to sad. And I'll tell you this. I VERY rarely like boks that don't end totally happy, so it's unusual that I should like it at all. I would highly recommend it!

Rating: Summary: Rated Best Overall Book Review: Among the Impostors is an exceptional book that tickles the adventure, suspense, and drama side of people. I think one of the best aspects about this book is that you are there with the main character the whole book, and if you sit down and take the time to get into it, you really immerse yourself in the reading, and you are there with the character. Haddix has really pulled this one off nicely.

Rating: Summary: Touching story Review: In the story of Luke Garner's life in this futuristic world, I was very touched. Not only did the author do a good job of telling us how bad times would be, but she does a good job of getting to know the characters and be able to react with them. This is a short book, you will probably read it in about a day, but read it and take a look about how life could be..

Rating: Summary: Imagine what it would be like never to have a friend Review: Among The Hidden is a futuristic story. It is set in a community where the population Police limits families to two children each. Luke, the main character, is a third child, a shadow child. When Luke is eleven, a terrible thing happens. Fancy houses are being built behind Luke...'s house, replacing the beautiful, protecting woods. This means Luke can no longer go outside... ever. This news is depressing because these woods were the only place he could go, besides simply hiding in the attic of his house. Now, he must hide in the shadows of his home, and can't even look out the window! He has never had a good life though. He has never gone to school, had a birthday party, or even meet someone out of his family, all these things his older brothers can do. Luke can't even eat at the dinner table of fear of being seen. Then one day, when his brothers are at school and his parents are at work, Luke dares to take a quick peek out the window. To his surprise, he sees a flickering light is a house where he knows two children and his parents have left. Suddenly, a wonderful thought crosses his mind. There is another third child! Luke is determined to talk to the other child. After many daring attempts and close calls, Luke manages to reach Jenï's house with out being seen. Jen has a dangerous plan to make third children accepted. She has contacted with many other third children over the Internet. Should Luke trust Jen? Should he be part of this dangerous and risky plan? Luke is a brave eleven-year-old boy, who is determined to someday have a friend. Everyday he stays home hiding in his bedroom, the attic. Luke lives in a family who is not poor and not rich. He lives on a farm. Luke has two older brothers who feel sorry for him but only once in a while have time to play with him. Luke finally has a chance to go outside again to meet other third children, to have fun and make him and other third children be accepted in the world. Why shouldn't Luke take this chance? Does Luke think it is too dangerous? ... I hope you make the right decisions and read this book! Why? Because I really liked this suspenseful, interesting, and adventurous book.
