Summary: Among the Hidden
Review: When you read Among the Hidden, Luke's dilemmas and reactions will keep you on the edge of your seat. Margaret Haddix has a unique style of writing that hides surprises on every page. Luke is a child who has never been to school or had any friends. The boy is a shadow child, a third child banned by the Population Police. He lives his entire life hiding and now, with the new house development replacing his family's woods, he is no longer even allowed to go outside. Luke cannot even eat with his family for fear that he will be seen. His parents make him eat in the stairway leading up to his room, which is in the attic. The stairway is now the only place he can go. If the shades are down, he still can't go out of the stairway. But Luke discovers a vent in the corner of his room. Every day that he can, Luke looks out the vent to watch the houses being built. One day his family is in such a rush that they forget to pull the shades up. Luke decides to surprise his mother by cleaning up the house and baking bread. The radio is even turned on very, very quietly. There is a problem though, his father comes in early for lunch and Luke is caught. After Luke is caught, he is sent up to his room to hide one again. But Luke is determined to stop hiding. To find out Luke's plan to stop hiding, read this amazing book.

Summary: Among the Hidden Jaime F.
Review: I read the book Among the Hidden, by Margaret Peterson Haddix. The story is about a boy named Luke and a girl named Jen. They had a problem, because there was a very unfair law that a family was only able to have two children. That law was so that country wouldn't run out of food. Jen and Luke were third children. At first Luke could help his father in the back of his dad's farm, because there was a forest. Unfortunately, they knocked down the woods where Luke's house was, so if he went outside he'd be seen and killed. Luke was very upset because the only reason they knocked down the trees was for houses for rich people. Then, one day Luke saw another third child's face and went to her new house! He wanted to meet her! It was Jen!
I could relate to Jen in the story, because sometimes when I'm sick I stay home alone, because my mom and dad both have to go to work. I feel cooped up and I watch T.V, and go on the computer. I also pretend to plan a meal when a lot of my family is going to come over for dinner, and it keeps me busy. I love it when visitors come, but like Jen I don't really know who's coming, so I get scared. I don't get defensive, because there is no way that anybody outside my family can get into my house.
I thought Among the Hidden was exciting, sad, and calm all in one. Books that make me cry are my favorite books, because they're dramatic. This one made me cry. My favorite part of the book is when Jen cuts herself, so Luke isn't found. I think this book is good for people that are ages 10 to 14, because it has some violent and sad issues in it. In conclusion, I'd like to state that I loved this book.

Summary: The Future Say's
Review: "Among the Hidden" is about a third child, Luke living in a country where you're only allowed to have two children. If any more babies' are born than two in each family, the government will kill them. Luke would run around outside until a new building project moved into Luke's neighborhood. Luke was forced to live indoors because if he were outside, the Population Police would see him. Luke meets a third child one day named Jen. Jen's dad was part of the government, but she did not die from her dad. When Luke finds out about a rally to stop the government from proceeding in the two-child law, the worst happens for third children all over.
I would give this book **** out of five stars. I really didn't think the end was going to be so heartbreaking for Luke and all of the people in Jen's family. It was good to know that at least one character in the book got a happy ending. I really am looking forward to read the second book in the series. I would really recommend this book for people that are interested in knowing what might happen in the future.

This book is about a boy named Luke Gardner who is born in a world that makes him illegal because he is a third child. The government made a law that a family could only have two children, and the Population Police are in charge of making sure that that law isn't broken.

Now that more people are moving into Luke's neighborhood, Luke is forbidden to go outside or look out the windows anymore. But one day he sees a girl's face in a window of a house that is owned by a family that already has two boys. Later Luke meets her. Her name is Jen.

Jen is another third child. She tells Luke about a rally she starts. When Jen arrives at Luke's house to pick him up to go to the rally, Luke tells her that he doesn't want to go. The disappointed Jen leaves without him.

This is the type of book that you just want to keep reading to find out what happens next. If you want to know what happens to Luke and Jen, you better get Among the Hidden. I give the book 10 stars, **********.

Summary: Among the Hidden
Review: Among the Hidden is about a boy named Luke. Luke is a third child. In this book a third child is illegal. Luke is not allowed to do anything except read or take a nap in his room, which is in his attic. Luke has to hide all the time. One day, when he looked outside, he saw a face in a house where he knew two kids already lived. Luke goes to meet this person. Now he has to make a decision to follow this person's plan or to not follow.
I think this book is super. All the time I was reading Among the Hidden it kept me thinking. When Luke was in dangermy heart kept pounding and I felt worried for him. What was going to happen next in the story? For instance, could Luke make it to a third child's house?
This book is great for people who don't like a lot of action. When I was reading this book I was really fascinated. Because of all the desperate measures he takes all the time. For instance, he was taking all the precautions to make bread and clean up the entire kitchen.
So if you read Among the Hidden you will really like it.

Summary: Children's Crusade
Review: I thought this book was amazing. I love adult novels that deal with a corrupt government, and this young adult book fit right into the mix. It was interesting how even after Luke read many books and articles put out by the government or rebels, he still did not know the truth. I think it is a great way to teach kids that the government may telling us one thing, and be doing something else. Among the Hidden keeps you wondering. It is a sad, heroic tale. It is one that, although it isn't real, it sure could be. It is all together a good book.

Summary: Among The Hidden - Jason R.
Review: Among The Hidden, written by Margaret Petterson Haddix is an amazing, have-to-read novel. Luke, the main character of the novel, is a shadow child, a third child andone of many. Luke is living in a time where a bad government was in control. A law was passed that allowed only two children to a family. Luke's mother had him anyway. From birth, Luke had to hide from the law and from the punishment of death.
The person who I relate to most in the book is Luke. When he gets scared that someone's going to find him it reminds me of when I was about three. Every night when
I got into bed I would always imagine a creepy monster under my bed or a nasty robber outside. Every time I heard a little creek I would jump up and be really scared. It got me so frustrated just like Luke in his situation. Among The Hidden is an excellent book. I'm picky about my books yet I loved it. Being that it was an adventure book, there were many exciting parts. Though I found the most exciting part of the book, was when Luke snuck over to Jen's house. The worst part was the long introduction in the beginning, which had no action at all. This book is appropriate for grades 5-6 and both girls and boys will like it. If I could change something it would be the ending. I would make it happier.

Summary: Among the Hidden Book Review
Review: By: Robbie L
Among The Hidden By Margaret Haddix takes place about a time when couples are only allowed two children, and third children are either killed or their parents are fined 5,000,000. This book is about a boy named Luke who is a third child hiding in his parents attic. One day Luke looked out his attic
vent in the middle of the day and he saw a face in his neighbors' attic window, a few days later he snuck into the neighbors house and he saw a girl. Her name was Jen and every few days after that he would go over her house.
I can relate to Luke a little bit because I have done things my parents didn't want me to do. I have also been very bored when no one is around or if there's nothing to do. I can also Relate to Luke's parents because I have told my brother things so that he wouldn't do any thing wrong and endanger himself.
I liked this book because it was weird and not like all other books I've read. My favorite part was when Luke snuck over. I think an 11-year-old male or female child would like this book because it is an exciting book with a lot of suspenseful and scary parts. If I could change something in this book, I would have the rally work and all the third children to be free.

Review: As a middle school teacher, I'm always looking for a book that will hold a student's interest. This is it! This series is great. Also a super suggestion if you are required to read a sci-fi book, but that's not really your thing. Highly recommend for all types of readers.

Summary: awesome book
Review: I liked Among the Hidden because I liked the main character Luke. He is not the fairy tale character. He acts like a normal twelve-year-old boy.
It is about a boy named Luke. He has to stay hidden because he is a third child. Third children are illegal because there is not enough food for them. Luke used to be able to go outside before they cut down the woods to make more houses. Luke is stuck in the house when he would rather be outside with his brothers. When people start moving into new homes, Luke can't even go down stairs. He has to stay on the stairs going from the attic or in his room in the attic. One day when Luke was looking out the vent in the attic, he noticed someone else looking back at him. One day when everyone left the house he snuck to her house. She introduced Luke to the computer e-mail chat room for third children. Luke started to go over there whenever he could. One day Jen told him about a rally she was starting. It is very dangerous and someone could get hurt. Find out what will happen to Jen and Luke by reading Among the Hidden.
I would recommend it to anyone twelve and older. It is an adventure story with a twist at the end.
