Summary: A disappointing review of Mathematics with notable errors
Review: After reading and working through this book for the SAT Math IC I was left disappointed and frustrated by wrong answers and mathematical errors. Though Barrons is still one of the few decent math review books out there I would not recommend this book. Additionally after finding these errors you begin to question other answers in the book and tend not to trust it on topics you don't know. Topics you bought the book to learn. Anyone with fairly accomplished mathematical skills will be frustrated by the book. Personally I would recomend borrowing a precalculus textbook and reading it insted. (p.s. the errors were errors I checked with two reliable sources on a few of them and both confirmed the errors)

Summary: This book gets the test all wrong
Review: Although the Barron's book claims to be helpful by giving overly hard tests, [I don't think] it actually does so because the writer [seems to have] no clue about what types of questions will be on the actual test. Thus,[in my opinion,] the topics which should have been reviewed more in-depth were shortchanged when I took the test, while the subjects that it emphasizes hardly appear on the real tests at all. ... [I believe t]here are so many obviously wrong answers and explanations on each test, that if you know the answers given are wrong, you lose faith in the book, and if you don't know the answers are wrong, you will be preparing yourself for the test with inaccurate information. The review tends to use the most difficult notation to solve problems -- no formulas are explained or worked up to, they are just given, and if the material is new to you -- which is presumably why you bought the book -- the review is unhelpful. I would say that I will get a good grade on the SAT II Math IC test I just took in spite of the Barron's -- I would have been better prepared just reviewing my textbook.

Summary: Hi,
Review: At first I was quite intimidated by the whole idea of taking the IC (hence my previous post), however, after having given this book a fair chance, I have come realize that my initial dissatisfaction was completely unfounded. It has actually had a calming affect on me, owed largely to an uncommon 'human touch' found in this publication.

It's universally acknowledged that the only way to do well on this test is to use this book. It is, indisputably, the MATH IC bible. Furthermore, This book is all about content , it's the only book around that attempts to really TEACH your how to do SAT II mathematics as opposed to fruitless QUICK FIX measures typical of books like 'The Princeton Review'. Let me express my self mathematically:-

THIS BOOK + FEW WEEKS = GOOD SCORE => GOOD COLLEGE => MORE MONEY => PRETTIER WIFE => PRETTIER KIDS

So, unless you don't want good looking kids, Buy this book

Summary: Good practice
Review: I found the six practice tests a good review before I took them last June. I finished the actual test in 18 minutes and got 800. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to review the soncepts covered on the IC test.

Summary: An Error Riddled Mess
Review: I recently began studying for the Math Level IC about a week ago, and after reading through 2 chapters, I am taking the book back for a refund. I [believe I]found over 10 errors in these first 2 chapters alone, and one of the questions [seemed to be] so messed up that there wasn't a possible right answer. I urge those who don't understand all about math already to stay away, as [I think] this book will only serve to further confuse you.

Summary: ugh
Review: i suggest you use it for the practice tests, but this book lacks clarity. most of the lessons are difficult to understand and the writers often skip vital steps "expecting" their readers to already know them. im actually looking for a new book right now...

Summary: IC
Review: I'm still undecided on the issue of weather or not to take the 1C - this book is definitely not making my decision any easier. The tests are difficult to the extent of being fundamentally different from the real thing, which really defeats the purpose of buying a targeted prep. Book in the first place! Would you know of any other prep. books that are less intimidating and more importantly, more representative of the real test ? Also, how did your scores on the Model tests coincide with you final test day result? I trust there was a large disparity.

I'm looking forward to a response
