Rating: Summary: An enthralling book Review: This is a great book that I recommend it to anyone. If you liked NUMBER THE STARS your sure to like this one. It is about a young boy, named Roberto, who goes to a movie with his friend and gets sent to a Nazi work camp. His friend dies due to the hardships at the camp. Roberto is very strong and decides to escape one night. He has many hardships but still survives. This book is captivating and grabs your attention and won't let go.
Rating: Summary: Online Review Review: This is one of the best books that I have ever read. I recommend this book to all readers, young and old. It is filled with suspense, action, drama, and much more. As you read the book, you begin to feel attached to the characters. My favorite part about the book is that at the end of each chapter. It leaves you hanging until the very end; therefore you want to continue on to the next chapter. I never wanted to stop reading. This is a great novel.
Rating: Summary: Stones in Water By:Donna Jo Napoli, a review by Andy Rashid Review: This story starts during World War One with a young boy and his friends, one of them Jewish. They all go to an American movie and are taken away from the theater to trains where they are shipped to work camps for boys. Being an Italian boy he knew little of this side of the war and follows his friends until thay are separated and he is only with his Jewish friend. The first things on his mind are to protect his friend and to escape. A whole new side of the war opens up to him and he begins to favor Germany's winning less. I would recomend this book, it felt like quick read, and held my intrest. The things he must do to survive will surprise you. All in all it was a great book that shows both sides of World War One.
Rating: Summary: Rebecca Caudill Young Reader's Book Award Nominee - 2000 Review: This title was appreciated by enough students and professional librarians and teachers to make the Year 2000 list of nominees for Illinois' childrens' choice award named after the Illinois author Rebecca Caudill. This book is best for grades 7 and up.
Rating: Summary: I couldn't put this book down. Review: Two friends, Roberto and Samual, went to see an American film at the theater. Only to be suprised by being captured by German soldiers. Them ,along with many other boys, are sent to work camps. Here they are given back breaking work and little food. And on top of all this Samual is jewish. If anyone finds out they both will surely be killed. Will they survive? Will anyone find out about Samuals secret? To find out buy and read this inspirational book.
Rating: Summary: Couldn't Put the Book Down Review: When I sat down to write a book report for this book, I had to much to say. I even recommended to the teacher that the whole class read the book. It had so much to do with what we were going to learn later on in the year. Every night, I would finish my homework and then read the book for aobut an hour each night. That just shows you that I couldn't put the book down. Stones is Water is written in a way that every page holds action. Also reading each page makes you want to read the next page. The main character of the book Roberto devolps in such a way, that is undiscribable. I suggest that this is a great book for someone 12 and above.
Rating: Summary: 5 Stones for Stones in Water! Review: When Roberto sneaks away from home to watch a movie with some friends, he encounters nazi soldiers who take him away to all parts of Europe. Roberto is left alone with his friend Samuele or Enzo. Roberto remains strong througout his journey until his friends is frozen to death while in the cold harsh climate of Ukraine. Sad and angry for his friend, Roberto knows he does not want to die here. He runs away from the slave camp but amazingly he is not shot. Not yelled at, not bothered at all! He then survives the wilderness by using his survival instincts. Dodging soldiers, salvaging what ever he can from destroyed villages is all Roberto can do until he is befriended by an Italian soldier who helps him find the way home. Did he make it? Was he able to get through the rough waters of the Mediterranean? I read this book after a friend asked me these questions. After reading the book, I felt Roberto's pains and reliefs, and because of it, I enjoyed this suspenceful book. I rated this book 5 out of 5 stones which is what this book deserves!
Rating: Summary: Stones in Water Review: WOW! I never even thought that this book would be at all interesting when I looked inside. But once started, I could not put it down. I had to tell all my friends and family the story and almost got my mom into it! This story is amazing, especially for me because I really am interested in World War 2. I will always remember young Roberto, generous Samuele, and all of the other breathtaking characters in this novel. Way to go, Napoli!
