Summary: Gossip is Good for the soul
Review: The Gossip Girl Series, at least the ones I have read so far, are a evil treat that I have indulged in every night for the past few months.
Set in New York City where the better people thrive, are the stories of a few teens; some outrageously rich living mainly on the Upper East Side, the others living in Brooklyn. They all have one thing in common, they go to the same schools, and they all want something they can't have, whether it's to be someone else, sex, or wining the heart of someone so completely out of their leauge. Along with the stories is the acutal Gossip Girl, who remains anonymous and answers the questions and responds to the comments and sightings of gossip hungry teens throughout the city.
Full of drinking, an eating disorder, teen language, and drug use{only pot}, this book was wonderfully written. It has the same exact affect of real life gossip. You won't be able to put this book down!

Summary: Engrossing, yet trashy and unrealistic
Review: After hearing so many rave reviews for this book, I decided to check it out for myself. When I started reading, this book was very hard to put down. However, I don't really think this was a five-star book. For one thing, the characters in this book are very shallow and unrealistic; they smoke, do drugs, are smart, spoiled, rich, wear the latest, most expensive designer clothing, have sex, and swear. I really don't think Cecily Von Ziegesar captured what upper east New York City teens were really like; probably just a small fraction act like this. Yes, the book was VERY inappropriate. Full of cuss words, talk of who had sex with who, gossip, and boyfriends ditching girlfriends (and vise-versa), I wasn't sure what age this book was targeted to. It seems inappropriate even for teenagers.

Not only that, but I found that the book really had no plot line. Like another reviewer said, when I got to the end, it really felt like it was the middle of the story. Basically, this book really has no beginning and no end. I enjoyed reading it, so I gave it three stars, but it's such a trashy "novel", I don't know if I'm gonna pick up any more Gossip Girl books in the future.

Summary: Engaging, Fun, Fluff :)
Review: Among the teen books out there this one is really about young adults, or teens acting like adults. Enter the world of Private School New York, where kids pride themselves on drinking, drugs, disorders, and social status. This first novel in the Gossip Girl series draws you in so much so taht its possible to read it in one sitting (As I practically did). The plot seems a little contrived and loose, but is an effective portrait of what Von Ziegesar is trying to display; a bunch of spoiled rich kids.

Live through the gossip supplied by a omniscent third-person narrative, and watch as friends become enemies, losers take risks in the social scene, and sex and love battle each other. A fun book to check out for a change from the usual teen fare.

Summary: A mini Sex in the City
Review: At first, when i saw the book, it looked like a good book. I started reading it, but i didn't get into the beginning. But i read on cause usually, a book gets better as u read on, and it did. The book gives u a veiw of teenager's lives in New York. I'm not saying that all teens in New York sit around and smoke pot, or drink like 10 glasses of champaigne everyday, but it does show wat some teens r doing.
i thought Gossip Girl was written in a cool way, like how some of it is from an internet website, but u don't know who's writing the website. And then the book just ends, with no special ending, so if u wanna know wat happens, u have 2 go and get the second book. i think every1 who reads Gossip Girl would want 2 read You Know You Love Me.

Summary: Awful
Review: Gossip Girl was clearly meant to be some kind of teenage Sex and the City. In my opinion, it failed. It had no storyline to speak of, just a constant chain of pointless, meaningless and sometimes downright ludicrous events. And Gossip Girl herself, an anonymous internet scandal-monger, seemed to me to be an irritating and pointless gimmick, adding nothing to the book. The characters were shallow, bitchy, stupid and not even remotely likeable. I refuse to believe that people like this exist, in America or anywhere else. In short, it was vacuous drivel.

Summary: So little pages...so much excitement
Review: All I have to say about the Gossip Girl series in general is that they are some of the best books I have ever read. Though the characters live in a much more glamourous world then most of us, there is still something any girl ages 12 and up can realate to. The clicks, the boys, the rumours, drugs, and sex are exactly what the "private" schools are all about, and this book shows that so well. I going to one myself know. Me and all of my friends have read this seris and are dying for the fourth one to come out. Believe me even if you don't read or read 2 books a day, you will love this series!

Summary: Surreal but still an excellent, catty read
Review: This is a really great book. It's totally surreal, the way the characters in the book live, yet you can still identify with many of their dilemmas, like being confused about who you love, or life slipping by too quickly...

I thought that the parts about Serena were done really well -- explaining how she had been "Miss Perfect" before, but now all of a sudden that didn't come so naturally, and how everyone was acting strangely around her. I also appreciated the parts about idolizing someone, trying to be popular, and going a bit too far trying to "fit in".

The fact that it's surreal is one of the things that makes it such a great read -- lightherated, catty and delicious. enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Summary: You Know You Love Me
Review: This series has to be the most spectacular and creative I've ever read! It provides you with a view from the other, more beautiful side of life- the rich and powerful. It's so realistic you almost feel like you are one of the upper east-siders. GG is a mysterious character who seems to be everwhere the in crowd hangs. I read all 3 books in only less than 5 days, I simply couldn't put them down!! I finished one, I rushed out to the nearest .... to get the next! Hopefully the fourth book will be just as enticing as the first 3. Please join Serena, Blair, Nate, Dan, Jennifer "Jenny", and all of the other preppy, seductive teens and their gossip!

Summary: Okay
Review: This book was poorly written and incomplete. The book ended without answering so much as one of the questions asked throughout the book. I read the end thinking it was still the middle of the story. Everything in the book was unrealistic as well.
