Summary: The first one was so much better
Review: I read the first Gossip Girl book and waited so long to read the second one since I loved the first one. Ok, I know its kind of a stupid book, but I liked it anyway. When I finally went out and bought this one, I expected so much more. I think the immature characters were better left when we had no idea what was going to happen to them. This book still had the bit of humor in it that is Gossip Girl, but I was really hoping to just find out who Gossip Girl was at the end so the series would be over and people wouldnt have to be tortured to hear more about these peoples lives. The first book left enough mystery for me, with me hating Blair, and feeling bad for Serena and this one was just too much. There was basically only one question left after reading this pointless book: who is Gossip Girl?

Summary: You don't have to love this
Review: Watch out, the depraved social butterflies are back. After the painfully self-conscious, 2-D "Gossip Girl," Cecily Von Ziegesar has returned to her circle of weird little rich kids, all of whom want to sleep with one another when they aren't talking about it. While this book isn't as repellent as the last, it's pretty bad.

After dining with Blair's flaming dad, Blair and Nate plan to sleep together for the first time -- an intimate interlude interrupted by Blair's mom, who announces that she's engaged to her annoying boyfriend. With the mood ruined, Blair plans to lose her virginity to Nate on the night of her mother's wedding (there's something just WRONG about that). The problem is, Nate is being inexplicably inattentive. What Blair doesn't know is that he's fallen in love with a younger, extremely buxom girl called Jenny, whose brother Dan is obsessed with the beautiful Serena. Dan is also the object of affection of Vanessa, Jenny's friend.

Amid all this love tangling, Blair meets her future stepbrother, who takes her to a disastrous college interview. Her mother is involved in wedding plans, which Blair cares not a whit about. A film festival is coming up, and Blair is determined to win -- over Serena's film. Blair shoplifts. And Serena's unspoken problems with Blair come to a head...

This book has the same lifeless mishmash of sex, drugs, and designer labels that the previous one had. These don't really add anything to the plot, nor does it make any difference to the lead characters. It could as easily take place in a trailer park or a cult commune -- except that people like to read about the lives of the rich and depraved, so the rich and depraved it is. The plot is the same loosely interconnected soap opera of storylines, only some of which get tied off. Admittedly, the ending is somewhat better than "Gossip Girl"'s, where the narrative simply stopped; here, there is some feeling of closure, even if a thousand loose ends are left flapping in the breeze.

The characters really haven't risen from their stereotyped roles. The only difference is that occasionally they take actions that were not quite predictable. But even in unexpected twists, the storyline is quite predictable. From Nate's secret involvement to the geeky stepbrother, one can predict just how things will go. The redeeming scenes are usually the comedic ones, which are fairly rare, such as Blair's hideously embarrassing college interview.

Gossip Girl herself is still fairly entertaining, but at the same time is growing a little too precious as time goes on, as is the catchphrase "you know you love me." (Oh I do, do I?) Serena serves as an apparent Mary Sue for the author, a gorgeous, intelligent and talented rich girl who has been labelled "bad" but doesn't deserve it. Blair is still whiny, Nate is still an insensitive jerk whose deepest thought is on the effect of leather pants on a girl's image, Dan is mildly frightening, and the parents are all idiots of the first order who exist merely to provide credit cards, buy ugly clothing, and remain entirely clueless of their childrens' little dramas.

"You Know You Love Me" is an improvement on the first book, but definitely not enough of one. Annoyingly precious, cliched and filled with irritating soap storylines, this is anything but lovable.

Summary: A Great Sequal to Gossip Girl!
Review: This book is a great sequal to Gossip Girl, and it lets you get to know Nate, Serena, Dan, Jenny, and Blair better. You even meet some new charictures. You will watch Blair's mother find true happiness and Blair true hatered, Nate find out just how cool Jenny really is, and Serena and Dan's friendship progress. If you liked the first book, this book is a must have!!

Summary: The sequel in the Gossip Girl series
Review: This book is actually, in many ways, better than the first one. It shows how much the characters have grown up and still manages to deliver many twists and turns at the same time. I enjoyed this one alot but I'm still wondering about how the relationship between Serena and Dan will turn out. I really hope that their is a third book because this is a very creative series. Cecily Von Ziegesar is a genius. Buy this book!

Summary: You Know You Love Me...
Review: You Know You Love Me is the second book in the Gossip Girl series. I know if you love Gossip Girl, you won't be able to put down this book.
You Know You Love Me has unexpected twists and turns throughout the novel. Will B and N finally hook up? Will S and D stay together? Will B get into Yale? Is B's mom really getting married to that old, rich fart? Who's A? Will V getover D?
There are sooo many unexpected answers for these questions, tou'll love every minute of it. Ziegesar does a fine job keeping the reader entertained.

Summary: Better than the first
Review: Although I can't say that I was expecting too much, I think this book definitely exceeded my expectations. It was a lot better than the first for sure, and the story line seemed to be much more interesting. Basically it builds on the main ideas from last time: Dan's stalker-like obsessions with Serena, Blair wanting to go all the way with Nate, Blair's mother getting married, Serena's movie, etc etc. The focus of the book is that everyone is getting ready to head off to university, so you read about a lot of them on road trips going to interviews with potential schools. This book had such a surprise ending, with some relationships breaking apart, and some new relationships developing too (there's especially one bizarre relationship between two people you'd never expect to get together). I guess that's what I like about this book, it's not predictable. It leaves you guessing right up to the last few pages. A great overall read. Make sure you've read the first book if you're new to the series, because I don't think you'd be able to keep up with this one if you haven't. If you've read the first, make sure to snatch up this second one!
