Rating: Summary: Lemony Snicket is superb, a word which here means awesome! Review: Wow. I can not say enough of these unfortunate novellas, a word which here means short books for children. I started reading these books while anxiously waiting for the next Harry Potter book to be released, a word which here means finished and published, and I read all eight books in a week and the unauthorized autobiography and couldn't put them down. The unique and "old" style of writing make these books a very interesting read and the terrible villian, Count Olaf, the brilliant children, and the unfortunate events make them a pleasure to read. If you have any sense, you will buy them and read them, and enjoy them... (I am going to die waiting until October for book the ninth!)
Rating: Summary: The Bad Begining was quite good. Review: Having been an avid reader while growing up i'm ashamed to say that my interest in reading had faded. Between work and other commitments i barely can find time to read.I'd read about "The unfortunate series of events" in a magazine and i was intrigued,so i went and purchased it, after reading the first book i was very happy i did.The three main characters(Violet,Klaus,Sunny) are very charming and very resourceful. The story is very dark with the children losing their parents and being forced to live with a distant relative.Count Olafs main concern is to get his hands on the childrens money. He inflicts all sorts of horrible behavior upon the children, even threatening to kill Sunny to get her siblings to go along with his scheme. The way Violet was able to outmanuver Count Olaf was a little to cheesy for my taste. The narrative is a little annoying but i enjoyed the story well enough to over look it.
Rating: Summary: Sad but very funny Review: Even though these kids have a tough time I couldn't help but to laugh out numerous times. This book was hard to put down and I finished it in about 3 hours. I'm looking forward to reading more of this series.
Rating: Summary: wonderful Review: This book is wonderful. It unpredictable you don't know what going to happen. From the front to the back you want to turn the pages because the book has a hook hanger at the end of each page.
Rating: Summary: a four--`` Review: I rate this book just a four. I could say it's a good story but Lemony Snicket says that its a miserable and bad story but I say its not. This book has a story of hope with the Baudelaire siblings looking for a new family to belong. In this story they were brought to a distant relative of theirs, the count olaf, that mistreated them and didn't treated the as family but more of a servant. It would really be great if you get a chance to read one of it's series!
Rating: Summary: Yuck! Gag! Review: This book was horrible. Boring, slow, the characters were 2 dementional, the villin was not the kind you love to hate but as stupid and as meaningless as all the rest of the characters. The Characters were sappy and clingy and didn't quite cach on. The plot was dull and the words in between were meaningless. Honestly I don't know how this book caught on. This book was so horrible it could become on of those "great novels!" the your teacher makes you read! If i could give this novel a half of star i would. Don't waste your money. As you can probably tell, i don't take reading a bad novel very well-espeally when so many people rave about it. Read J k rowling instead.
Rating: Summary: A fantastic Beginning Review: Lemony Snicket (don't you just love that name?) has some bad news for us. Mind you, the reader can tell he loves telling it, and enjoys spreading the bad news. This is one reader that Snicket has hooked.Meet the Baudelaire orphans (Violet, Klaus and Sunny) they are the children who have a bad beginning. They find out that their parents have died, and then are forced to live with their strange, scary, and greedy Count that wants all of their money. When the children are with him, they have to do all sorts of work, and sleep in terrible conditions. Hence, it's a bad beginning....and it doesn't get much better. The Count wants to steal all their money. I won't say anything more about the plot, because I dont' want to ruin it. Snicket has a wonderful sence of humor. It comes through in his unique style of writing that keeps the reader glued to the page. The characters are ones that the reader cares about and wants to know more about them. All of the kids in the class I student taught in begged me to read it. I was glad I did. this is a wonderful read. When the kids complained abbout something, I said that they should be glad that they aren't the Baudelaire orphans. If you start this series, you won't be sorry.
Rating: Summary: HORRIBLE-For those living it-WONDERFUL-For those reading it Review: This book is hilarious. Being that this is the first book, you can be guaranteed that even more miserable things will happen to the poor orphaned children with each next book. The book is for a younger reading level than I am at, but yet I continue to read these books because they are fun. This first book, like all the rest, is exciting, funny, miserable, and a perfect read for anyone that wants to make their troubles look like 'small potatoes'. Like I said before at my title, this book is HORRIBLE for those living it, but WONDERFUL for those reading it!!!
Rating: Summary: Definetly Five Stars!!! Review: I absolutely LOVED this book! I have finished the first four now, and they are delightfully miserable! Like it warns you beforehand, if you can't bare to read the story of a hideous murderer following innocent little children this book is probably not for you. I'm 11 and I could take it and in the end the whole book was fabulous! The pros were practically everything about it, the cons were that Mr. Poe frustrated me. Well, beside the only minor frustration for me, this was an excellent book. Sunny is extremely hilarious with her new language, and Violet and Klaus ar very ingenious, and solve their problems very well. I GUARANTEE YOU WILL LOVE THIS BOOK!
Rating: Summary: An awwwwfully good book Review: Lemony Snicket (scared already?!), weaves a masterful tale of strife and woe in the first in a series of unfortunate events. This book is lushly presented in a deluxe hard cover with gloriously thick pages. Don't be fooled, this story is not just for children - but anyone who loves a little sorrow and misfortune in their bedtime reading.
