Summary: A Terrific, Heart-Warming Book... I loved It!!
Review: My mother gave me this book to read when I was 9 yrs. old & up till then, I had never read anything so great... I must've re- read it at least 10 more times through my boyhood years. I am 31 yrs. old now, and still, my emotions get tugged when I remember 'Where The Red Fern Grows" I'm buying it again tonight - because the book is a timeless heart-warming tale. Parents: "You need to buy this book for your children to read"!!!

Summary: Those who didn't like it are city kids and foreigners!
Review: As I scanned through this page, I saw a few low reviews. I was shocked because I thought that this was such a great book. I soon noticed that all these low reviews came from people in the city and people from other countries. Obviously, they don't know what this book is about and have probably never been coon hunting and never will! This is probably why they gave it such low reviews. I was glad to see a few city people grasp the point of this book (the relationship between a boy and his dogs), though. This book is a ten all the way! END

Summary: A Powerful Book
Review: Where the Red Fern Grows is an excellent book about two dogs, Old Dan and Little Ann, and a boy named Billy. Billy saves up money to buy two hounds. This book is about the friendship between the dogs and Billy. There is a lot of action along the way. Billy wins a first place trophy because the dogs are such good hunters. The book ends tragically when the dogs get in a fight with a mountain lion to protect Billy. Old Dan dies of injuries and Little Ann dies of sadness. Billy is heartbroken over his loss, but the family moves to the city. He will never forget his dogs.

Summary: EXCELENT
Review: This book is about a kid named, Billy, that lives in the Ozarks and wants two hunting hounds. Billy saves $75.00 in two years to buy the hounds. His grandpa mailed in the money. Billy had to walk into town to pick them up. When Billy laid eyes on the pups, he knew they would be the best dogs a boy can have. The dogs learned evey trick in the book. Happiness is all around, but sadness is too.

This book is the best book I have ever read, and it will always be my favorite too.

Summary: A beginning educator's all-time favorite...
Review: I'll never forget the first time I read "Where the Red Fern Grows." I was in fifth grade and had ordered it through a book order. The day it came, I got off the bus, curled up in a chair, and started to read. I never put it down... not until the very last page and the last tear had dried upon my cheek. This book is, and probably always will be, my favorite book. I have never been as emotionally attached to any book as I am to this one. I've read it seven times, at least, and react the same way each time... Now, as a student teacher in a fifth grade classroom, I was able to share it with a new generation of readers. They laughed at Old Dan's fumbles and marveled at Little Ann's cunning intelligence... and cried at their selfless devotion to Billy, their young but loving master. This book will always have a special place on my bookshelf.

Summary: This review was written by an 11 year old reader
Review: "Where the Red Fern grows" is a story of a boy, his dogs, and their world of adventures. It begins with a boys desire and ends with the truth of friendship, and how friendship can change a person's life .

Billy wanted dogs-not just any dogs-coon hounds-two of them. After two long years of selling berries and fruit, Billy got his dogs! A male and a female. During the first week Billy named the male, Old Dan- brave and powerful, the female , Little Ann- smart and cautious. Through their training, Billy realized that Little Ann and Old Dan are like one, they would do anything for each other. Through the changing seasons, Billy and his dogs overcame many obstacles including death and disaster. But it all just strengthened their friendship.

Summary: amazing
Review: I read this book in class and I found it was very well written. The author is very talented, he makes readers feel like they are there in person. The book is also very graphic. It is the best book around, read it, a book like this doesn't come around often.Don't let an opportunity like this pass away.
