Rating: Summary: Highly Recommend It To Anybody Review: I am now 31, I first had this book read to me in 4th grade, and every several years I re-read it, my copy is so dog-earred. Even though I know it inside and out it still brings me joy, and there are still parts where I cry. I'm planning to buy it for my 9-year-old nephew.
Rating: Summary: great! Review: I read this book last year in school and it made almost everyone including me tear up and i am not one to tear up in public easily.
Rating: Summary: Much more than a story about a boy and his dogs. Review: Although it has been nearly two weeks since I finished listening to the tape of Where the Red Fern Grows, I am fighting to choke back the tears even now. I plan to order several copies for Christmas gifts.Yes it is a wonderful epic adventure story about a boy and his dogs and their heroic devotion to each other. And yes, it is so well read that you live every moment right alongside Billy and Old Dan and Little Ann. But, like most great novels, it is much more. I am a dog lover, a college teacher, and a retired field grade Army officer. I loved the book not only for the captivating story, but also for the slice of Americana that it captures and preserves. It is a time capsule of a way of life, of what made this nation great. The breadth, depth, and magnitude of the love, devotion, responsibility, integrity, courage, and tenacity of the characters is awesome. It was a simpler time, when modest, humble, ordinary people were heroes in their own right, but could not imagine being any other way. If this story doesn't burst your heart with joy and then rip it out with painful agony, you are dead and worse. If you think you're dead, it will awaken and electrify feelings you didn't know you had. If you are looking for answers, you will find them all in this simple little tale of perfectly ordinary and unassuming heroes of epic stature.

Rating: Summary: I like my book. Review: The book I read was "Where the Red Ferns Grow". It was a nice story and it is very educational. The boy name Billy wanted two dogs so bad, that he wroked for few years to buy two dogs. Billy was very poor so he could not buy anything he wants. He is a very nice little boy and never talked back to his parents but because of the dogs, Billy went out and came back in after 1 week. Billy was out of his state and went to far place to buy those two dogs. Billy finally bought it and had a very happy time with the dogs. Billy was pleased and he wanted to take his dogs to a lot of places. He went to hunt, to camp, and to a contest of dogs. He was having a good time until the dogs died. I dont want to tell you the ending so u read what happens in the ending. The ending is related to the title of the book. ~Min Song~

Rating: Summary: I think this is a great book. Review: I recommend this book to a kid in 5th or 6th grade that wants a dog. That is why I like this book. Some good things that I like were when he went to town to get a dog. He was going to buy a small beagle, but these kids bought him before he got to it. This book is about a boy that wants a coon dog. The exciting part of this book was when he tried to tree the ghost coon, he's the oldest coon. He got his own side of his dad's shed wall. By the he competed, he had the whole wall full of coon skins. I really enjoyed this book.
