Summary: A hilariously bad book
Review: This hilariously bad book is humorous attempt to romanticize a hillbilly young boy's life in the US. You will laugh and laugh some more at the "coon hounds" and this spoiled boy (not in a financial sense but in other senses). For the full affect I recommend the audio book though as is his speech is perfectly accurate. If this book was written today it would be thrown away of course, but we give Mr. Rawls the benefit of doubt over time. Perhaps the most amusing part about the book is the rediculously unrealistic portrayal of country life during that period. Goodbye Mr. Rawls, and thanks for all the laughs.

Summary: The outstanding Where the Red Fern Grows
Review: The outstanding book Where the Red Fern Grows is an very interesting adventurism book. It's a book about a boy named Billy
who wanted coon dogs to hunt where he lived in the Ozark mountains.
But the problem was, he had to raise the money himself by doing unusual jobs such as picking berries. Finally he had enough money to get his dogs and from then on it turned to coon craze.

This is a book that you want to read if you were in fifth grade and up. I give this book a five star rating because this book is just that good.

Summary: Must Read!
Review: Do you like to read books about the outdoors? Well, if you do, you need to read this book! In the book Billy wants two coon dogs but his dad cannot afford them. One day he goes down to the creek where the fishermen stay, and he finds a magazine someone had left behind. As he flips through the pages he finds the "for sale" ads. He reads one that says, "coon dogs for sale". They were cheaper than other dogs that were advertised, so he ripped out the ad and started saving his money, since he knew his father couldn't afford them. He did all kinds of odd jobs for the money, but I can't tell you anymore, you will just have to read the book. After he got his dogs he had wonderful adventures with them, he trained them, and he killed his first coon with them.

I really liked the book. I guess it is because I love animals. I really do think you should read this book, it's great! I know if you like books about the outdoors you'll love this book.

Summary: You Must Read This Book
Review: Do you like books with the main character fighting for what he/she wants or works really hard for? If you do, this would be a great book for you. It takes place in the foothills and riverbottoms of the Ozark mountains. The main character (Billy Coleman) loves coon hunting and worked real hard to get his coon dogs. When Billy's grandpa enters him in a coon hunting contest, a blizzard and everything goes crazy.

I really enjoyed reading this book and I would recommend it for anyone who is willing to read it. It is very warm and touching.

Summary: Must Read
Review: Billy wants two hound dogs. But he has a problem he doesn't have enough money to buy them. Billy works hard to get the $50.00 he needs. When he gets the money, he goes to the town were the dogs are to pick them up. When he arrives at the town, he looks for the post office. Billy gets his dogs and goes on. Later several of the boys from the town call him a hillbilly. One boy and Billy get into a fight. The sheriff break up the fight and he tells Billy you he has some good looking dogs. On Billy's way home he buys his family some things from the store. When Billy gets home he gives the things out to his family. He started training the dogs so when the dogs get older they could go hunting.

I like this book because of the adventure Billy had with his dogs when they were hunting. If you like adventure and dogs you should read this book.

Review: Where the Red Fern Grows

Where The Red Fern Grows is an exiting book with an excellent ending. This book addresses a topic of friendship, death, and humble. Some adjectives that describe this interesting book are: intriguing, fun, interesting, and benevolent. In the story all this words become one and make the book awesome. The author made an excellent job by writing this excellent book, he hold my attention when Billy, the main character of this story, went to a hunting raccoon tournament with his two hound dogs, his dad, and his helpful grandfather.
The author has a nice strategy to grab your attention; he makes the story with more suspense. The character of the story Where the Red Fern grows book are: Billy, a young humble boy that wants two hound dogs really bad. His father a man that supports Billy all the time, but he has economical problems and his family cant afford buying many things, his grandfather an old man that has a store at the nearby town, where Billy lives, that has many accessories and hound dogs are taken there to be sell. Billy grandfather helps him buy the two dogs by reducing the prize.
His two fabulous hound dogs Old Dan and Little Anne, both are brothers and help each other, Billy shows them how to hunt and after they have mastered the action Billy takes them to a hunting tournament where many skilled hunter and well trained dogs are going to participate, he achieves a great place, but you need to read it to see what happens. This story is believable because it is not fantasy. This is a fun book and I recommend it to many people, especially children that love dogs, because you are going to like it and will become a really nice experience.

Summary: The Boy And His Hounds
Review: Billy has never really liked dogs. Until he ends up saving one! Ever since Billy helps an old pooch, he catches puppy love. To make it plain and simple, Billy wants dogs. But not just any dogs. He wanted hunting hounds. Billy works for 2 years to pay for his dogs. Their names are Old Dan and Little Ann. Every night in the mountainside, Billy, Old Dan, and Little Ann have fun hunting. Billy loves his hounds but, will he sacrifice his life to save them? Read "Where The Red Fern Grows" by Walter Ralls, and find out the secret of the sacred red fern.

"Where The Red Fern Grows" is a good example of caring. Through out the book, Billy is always caring more for his hounds than being selfish, and only caring about him self. Billy was dead set on getting his dogs, even though he worked for 2 years to get them. Billy never lost hope in getting his pups. I recommend this book to adventurous readers who like long books.

Summary: Even better 15 years later!!
Review: I read this book as a young boy and remember crying even though I didn't want to. I didn't think boys should cry back then. I finished reading this book again, tonight and my eyes welled up with tears just like the first time. This time I was able to just enjoy the emotion instead of try and block it. The greatest thing about this book is the timelessness of the story. I think all children should read this book and all adults should read it, or revisit it. It's a beautiful story of the indescribable bond between a dog and his owner. Filled with hope and innocence. Should be on every bookshelf.

Summary: 8th grade review
Review: In the story, Where The Red Fern Grows, it teaches you many lessons. For example, it teaches you that you have a big responsibility for your pets, and if you really want a pet, don't give up on saving your money until you get it. You have to also realize that they are big responsibilities. This story also tells that the boy would risk his own life for his dogs little Ann, and old Dan because throughout the story he gained a huge relationship with them. During the story Rob wanted a hunting dog, but not just one, he wanted two, because he felt that two dogs were better than one, and they could have a friend. So Rob saves up his money for years to buy his two hunting dogs. It turns out that they save his life. Read the book to find out what happens.

I think Where The Red Fern Grows is a wonderful book for people for all ages. The book tells how Rob makes good choices, and that if you love something so much that you would risk your own life for it. So go out and read the fivestar book and enjoy every part of it.
