Review: "Where the Red Fern Grows" is a wonderful book about a boy called Billy and his experiences. He earns 50$ in 2 years by selling crawfishes, minnows, and vegetables. Without telling a word to anyone but his grandfather, he buys 2 coon hounds, and realizes that his dream has come true. But in a couple of months, he also realizes that coon-hunting can be very risky and dangerous, especially when there are wild mountain lions lurking around...
This book is a must-read for everyone from 8 to 80. It shows you good examples of love and loyalty, determination and death, friendship and sportsmanship. Summary: My review of Where the Red Fern Grows
Review: The book Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls is a great book for all ages. Most kids can relate to Billy being a pet or dog lover! We also understand how bad Billy wanted those dogs. Billy and his family are just like an average American family. They are very close and love each other very much!
This book definitely shows how talented Wilson Rawls is. With his wonderful imagery, Rawls paints pictures in everyones mind. It was just like I was a part of the book! I am glad I read this book not only because it was great, but it also taught me some valuable lessons, like to never ever give up even when times get hard. This book could definitely be a true story about a young boy and his family. The book teaches us how to deal with everyday problems and very tough problems as well.

Summary: A Heart Felt Dog Lovers Book!
Review: Where the Red Fern Grows is by far the best ever dog book I have read. This book was so touching in so many ways.

It starts off with a boys dream. Billy has this long dream of getting him a pair of red bone coon hounds but the thing is his father can't afford any. So what Billy does is that he works for a year. Traping animals and selling their fur and doing labor work because his disaire for his two dogs is so strong. Finally in a years time he orders his two coon hounds and names them Old Dan and Little Ann. Together the future leads these three friends on a journey of trust, friendship, betrayal and heartbreak.

This book is a very emotional book but it is also a heart touching one. I recommend this book for all. No matter what kind of book you preffer i guarentee that you'll LOVE this book!!

Summary: A Heart-Warming Story for Everyone
Review: In this story, Billy Colman is a young curious boy that is in the peak of his childhood. Living in the Ozarks on northeastern Oklahoma, he has been brought with not cities, but hunting and other aspects of farm life. He finds his friendship in two bluetick hounds, Little Ann, the token smart dog, and Old Dan, the token tough dog. Throughout the book, different adventures include a coon hunting competion, fighting mountain lions, and of course, inevitable grieving loss of the dogs.

This is one of the best books I have ever read. It can touch your heart in a way other books can't. I'd also be lying if I said I didn't cry! It has all thing a book needs: humor, drama, action, adventure, rage, and best of all dogs! And the book combines all the genres without flaw and without being choppy. The book is incredibly descriptive with the different characters and settings. The only problem is that some scenes tend t obe drawn out and slow in reading. This book is a must for all ages, although I recommend it for boys from the age 9-15, because they will be able to relate to what Billy feels, and also they will see a new aspect of life, living in a rural area on a farm. People who love the company of dogs, and such movies as "Lassie," "Far from Home: The Adventures of Yellow Dog," and "Old Yeller" would find a liking to this book.

Summary: Where the Red Fern Grows
Review: Where the Red Fern Grows
By Wilson Rawls
September 19, 2002

This summer I read a really great book. I read the book called Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls. This story takes place on a farm. The main character is Billy. He has two parents and a few sisters. Billy is kind-hearted and is very good at coon hunting. Billy wanted dogs really bad so he worked for 1 ½ years until he had enough money to get them. He finally got his dogs and started to teach them coon-hunting skills with the help of his sisters. When they were ready to go coon hunting, he took them mostly every night. The author's purpose for writing this book was to show that if you want something really bad, you have to work for it. Another purpose the author had for writing this book is that he set the setting of the book on where he used to live. I think Wilson Rawls wanted reader to think about what kind of life was back then when he lived.

Billy loved to coon hunt with his dogs every night. One-day Billy's grandfather told him that he entered Billy in a coon-hunting race. Billy was very excited. It took a long time to get to where the contest was being held, but they made it. Billy did really well. In the end Billy and his dogs won the coon-hunting race and took home a trophy and some cash. This event was important because it showed not to give up and that Billy and his dogs were the best coon-hunters around. Billy was one of my favorite characters because he was always brave no matter what happened. He loved his dogs with all his heart and continued to help them learn.

I liked this book because it was exciting to read. When you read one part of the book it makes you want to read more. Another reason I like this book is because it is really sad, and it makes you want to cry. In the beginning of the book, there are comparisons of now and then. The kind of reader that would like this book would need to like dogs and hear a story of a boy's life. This book is really important to read because it shows part of life and it meanings.

Summary: A Great Motivating Book!
Review: This book, Where the Red Fern Grows, is about a 10 year old boy who wants two hunting hounds. He wants them so bad that he decided to raise the money to buy them himself. He wants them enough that he walks by foot to reach them in the city. Then the training began. Soon, Old Dan and Little Ann are two of the best hunting dogs in the Ozarks. Old Dan and Little Ann go through a lot together and are always there for each other throughout the book. From the Championship coon hunt to fighting a Mountian Lion they were always there to heal each other.
From this book I have learned to be thankful for what I have and to perservere in whatever I do. In this book Billy and his dogs never give up even when it may have come down to death. They were always ready to win. If you are looking for a good read and to learn a little from it I highly recommend Where the Red Fern Grows. I definately have learned a lot from this book.

Summary: Where the Red Fern Grows
Review: I really enjoyed this book, even though it was a little repetitive at times. Some parts you could predict what would happen, but others were very interesting. My favorite part was when the boy finally got the dogs after saving all his money. It was sad that the dogs died at the end, but the ending was still good.
