Rating: Summary: Good book for teens and adults! Review: Surprisingly this is a great book for teens and adults. It captures the imagination and keeps kids reading, as well as delivering a great message.
Rating: Summary: Jaded and Out of Date Review: When Pigman came on the scene in the late 60's, it was right in step with all the teenage angst and social upheaval of its time. Nowadays, this book is used mostly in junior high schools as a centerpiece of literature study. Unfortunately, it's core message of 'togetherness' and 'accepting eccentricity' is buried in distasteful, negative characterization. The high school students at it's center drink booze in graveyards, hate school, are alienated from their parents, set fires in trashcans in the boys' bathroom...and enjoy confusing and alienating the people around them with their supposedly zany behavior. These 'kids' quote Freud and are cynical about every aspect of the 'older generation.' Why would schools choose a piece wherein the kids hate school and commit crimes as literature from which to draw life lessons? Call me old fashioned, but I guess we have enough disharmony and cynicism without having to program 12 year olds with it, via the literature they read. The consciousness of this book is incredibly low, and as there's been a renaissance in Young Adult fiction during the past decade, it seems that the world has outgrown The Pigman's "laugh-in" style, counterculture message.
Rating: Summary: Highly Recommended ~ The Pigman Review: The Pigman was a great novel. I really think that young adults would love this book. I loved the way Paul Zindel really brought Mr. Pignati alive. The pigs just made the story come alive. The novel kept me reading and I really could not wait until I received The Pigman's Legacy and The Pigman and Me. I really recommend every young adult to read this novel.

Rating: Summary: The Pigman - nice book for teenagers and pig-collecters Review: We read the book for our english lesson and we must say, our english teacher made a good choice! The book was really interesting. The beginning was very boring, but it became more and more enticing. Very special about the story is that the two teenagers John and Lorraine gain maturity. (no time) We recomend this book to tenagers (14-17) and to teachers. Have fun, nice book!

Rating: Summary: A good book to read Review: In "The Pigman" written by Paul Zindel, there are two kids, John and Lorraine, who play tricks on other people. They phone them and say something absurd. They meet Mr. Pignati, also known as "The Pigman". They do many things, until John and Lorraine tell Mr.Pignati the truth. At first it is boring and difficult to read because there are two different narrators, who tell the story. Later on it is interesting and easy to read. I think this book is good and I would recommend it to teachers for their lessons.
Rating: Summary: Emotional and well written novel Review: "The Pigman", written by Paul Zindel, is a nice teenager novel also for the younger. It is about the friendship between two High School kids and an older man, who they get to know during a hoax they are playing. Because of their bad relationship to their parents, the teens John and Lorraine spend every free minute at Mr. Pignati's house and soon he becomes a father substitute for them. If their friendship will break caused by a lie and Mr. Pignati's secret you can read on your own. I enjoyed reading that well written novel because it is a mix of reality and an imagined part of friendship like it will never be!
Rating: Summary: Good novel for English lessons Review: The book "The Pigman", written by Paul Zindel, is about two teenagers, playing tricks on other people. One day they get to learn Mr Pignati, an outcast, and after some time they develop a strong friendship. But everything changes after "The Pigman" has a heartattack. In my opinion the book is written very well. Paul Zindel has written the story very excitingly and realistically. Also the problems of the two main characters John and Lorraine are very well described. I would recommend the book to other teachers to use it in their lessons.
