Rating: Summary: this is a very good story Review: The book is about two high-school kids who get to know an old man call Mr. Pignati. They become very good friends and Mr. Pignati becomes a substitute father for them. But one day soömething bad happens and the relationship between them changes. This book very interesting because I think it's very realistic. The book shows how two high-school kinds can change an old man's life and vice versa. I would recoment the book to everybody and I would read it again. I think it's the right kind of novel for young people. In the book there are a pupil's school life, too.
Rating: Summary: A very sad book... Review: In my opinion the Pigman is a very sad book that could bring out strong emotion from any reader. This is not one of the books I would normally read but it did impress me. In my view the writers style was a little hard to follow in this book. John and Lorraine were actually writing the book, so either John or Lorraine writes one chapter and then the other person writes the following chapter. Sometimes it gets confusing because John for example , might think of something Lorraine left out in her chapter, so John inserts that later in the story. I would recommend "The Pigman" to young teenagers who enjoy reading emotional books. Someone who loves to read science-fiction novels and action stories would not like this book.
Rating: Summary: The Pigman Review: I find this book to be very well written. I also think The Pigman is a very sad book that could bring out strong emotion from any reader. This is not one of the books I would normally read but it did impress me. Even though I liked the book, I would not consider The Pigman to be one of my all time favorite books. This book started out slowly, and I had to keep my eyes from drifting off the page, but by the time the major conflicts had been revealed, I could not put the book down.

Rating: Summary: Good for the Troubled Teen Review: This is another book that is often read in schools and I'm glad because it was a good book. I've read it many times since then. The two young teens who are main characters in the book are troubled teens. I'm not saying that this book will make things better or give you the answer or anything, just that you might like it if you are troubled. To those of you who are studying it in school right now, I know it might seem stupid, but stick with it. Actually read it, enough to retain it. As you get older, I think it will come back to you at certain parts of your life.
Rating: Summary: Liberty or License? Review: I found the cover of the Paperback version somewhat misleading, claiming that the title character was hiding a "Terrible secret" and that society would be "shocked and hurt" by the revelations. This was definitely a serious book, but Not the heavy mystery which the publisher (Bantam Starfire) proclaimed. The story is both humorous and pathetic--well worth reading, especially for high school kids, who can relate to superficial conversations and disintegrating relationships with their parents. Two sophomores who are misfits in some ways team up to play telephone pranks, which is how they meet Angelo Pignati (who does not raise pigs). What starts out as a loony, harmless, scam changes into an important and fulfilling relationship for the three of them. One where it is safe and OK to do silly things--like roller skate through a department store--just for the the sheer joy of being alive and enjoying each other's wacky company. Emotionally-constricted at home, both John and Lorraine find exhilaration in the total acceptance of their personalities without criticism, reveling in this unexpected personal freedom. Unfortunately they revel too much in the home of the Pigman (their private but respectful name for this gentle soul), who has been both liberal and trusting with his hospitality. The teenagers realize too late that things can go too far, when their adult friend pays the price for their selfishness and excess. This kindly middle-aged man helped set them free from social bondage--free to be themselves, accepted just as they are, but was the price too high for them all? Since when is Freedom really free? Liberty carried to extremes is License. A thoughtful read.
Rating: Summary: The Piman Review: The Pigman By: Paul Zindel K.Shimamoto Period 1 The Pigman, written by Paul Zindel was about two teenagers and their acquaintance with a man named Mr. Pignati. The two main characters, John and Lorraine, were at first just pulling a prank by calling people and seeing how long they could talk on the phone with them. Lorraine had chosen Mr. Pignati, a complete stranger, and started talking to him. At first John and lorraine went over just once, but then started to go regularly. They went at first because of the prank, then they started to feel sorry for him, because he was lonely. One day he had a heart attack, both teens were surprised and saddened by this. Luckily, he got better, but just a little while later he hd another attack and died. John and Lorraine were devastated. They learned a lot from their experiences with Mr.Pignati. I liked the book because the characters and the events seemed real. The things in the book that happened actually could've happened in real life. ""We're going to have a few friends over for drinks tonight."" This quote is an example of something that happened in the book, that what a kid today might've done. This to me was interesting. I also disliked a part of the book. The part I disliked was the ending. It was sudden and a little unexpected. Suddenly Mr.Pignati just dies, I thought that was really sad and wasn't the best way to end a book. John thinks about what they did. "We had trespassed too-been where we didn't belong, and we were being punished for it." This quote tells about how John thinks of the whole ordeal and why Mr.Pignati died. The ending was also a little confusing. My favorite parts of the book were, all the parts Mr.Pignati was so excited about the smallest things. For example, when he, John, and Lorraine went to the zoo, even though he had been to the zoo many times before he was still thrilled to be there. Another time was when he laughed at his own jokes. I liked these parts because I thought they were amusing. They were also, in a way, funny, how he was so happy about the tiniest things in life like someone coming over to visit him. Over all I thought this book was enjoyable.

Rating: Summary: Boring Review: I was forced to read this for school, and if you're planning to read this, please, I urge you, do not read it. Before you begin reading the "Pigman'', let me give you a summary of it. The concerns two [teenagers], Lorraine and John, who've just visited an old man, Mr. Pignati, the Pigman, after his collection of pigs. They've discovered through a prank (pretending to be charity workers), and unknowingly to them, they've become friends, after many adventures. But the old man gets sick, and while in the hospital, the two teenagers deceide to have a party at his house, and soon, the wild party turns into a disaster. Then, when the Pigman gets well, they deceide to take him to the zoo to make up for their misdeed. But finding out that his favorite monkey, Bobo, died, he grows heartbroken and dies. So what's the lesson here? Nothing but life and death, and just how serious life can be. The End, that's the story!
Rating: Summary: Tell the Truth to Friends Review: In The Pigman not one of the characters was honest with each other. When they finally begin to tell each other the truth, a marvelous friendship develops. All the characters realize one thing, if they had just been honest from the start they would have avoided a lot of problems. This book was easy to follow and taught me what being a friend really means and a lot about being honest. I liked how it was about adolescents my age. I didn't really like how the book started out, because it didn't really grab my attention. Once I started to get into the book, I couldn't put it down. Paul Zindel is a magnificent author. I would recommend The Pigman to anyone.
