Rating: Summary: The Pigman Review: The Pigman was a very exciting book. We don't think the content, that being the drug and alcohol abuse and the violence, would be very appropriate for children 9 or younger, but people around 12 or 13 hopefully can differentiate between good and bad. It taught values such as friendship and remorse. We recommend this book to anyone who is mature enough to understand its literary value.
Rating: Summary: A Great Coming of Age Story Review: Now an adult, I remember reading this book in middle school. I remember how much I enjoyed it so much, that I went back and read it again! I definately suggest this to any young adult, and even some adults. It is easy reading and presents alot of events crucial in those teenage years. Anger, death, committment, & sorrow are a few topics hit on. It also has a cute pictural story that may just help you pick the perfect mate!
Rating: Summary: Do you think you're like John and Lorraine? Review: I feel so sad whenever I read the story. I cried hard when I read the whole thing, over and over... I still don't know why I'm crying when I'm reading it every time, but I suppose as you read the book you'll find out that the book is not only a fiction. I feel that this story is actually happening in our world... It's a pity that people don't learn stuff from reading.
Rating: Summary: Extrodinary happenings to ordinary kids Review: Well I'm in grade 9 and we read this book in English class. And I thought it was a real good book. It talks about how two ordinary teens, John and Lorraine gets into a situation where they learn so much. At their own homes, it doesn't feel like a family but when they encounter an old lonely man, Mr.Pignati, they suddenly feel something they've never had or felt, love. But the ending was pretty shocking and it just leaves you in midair, not knowing what had happened. So the end, you'll have to make up your own story. But overall, it was an exciting and great story. I recommand everyone for all ages to read this book.
Rating: Summary: A great book for teenagers to relate to. Review: This is a great book for teenagers to realate to.its about 2 teenagers that are very lonely and dont have anyone but eachother. But they meet someone who is just as lonley as they are and changes they're lifes forever.
Rating: Summary: I enjoyed this book immensley Review: The Pigman is an extrordinary book that portrays how older people are taken advantage of. Even though John and Lorraine weren't trying to, they took complete advantage of Mr. Pignati. He needed more companionship, and, with the lack of it, he bonded with a primate. Mr. Pignati had a gigantic amount of love to give. This story seemed very lifelike and true to the facts. This book surely deserves to be considered as a classic.
Rating: Summary: Touches your heart Review: This book shows a great deal of emotions. I know some parents don't like this book but I really understand it and I'm 12!
Rating: Summary: Funny and sad Review: Way to go,Paul Zindel! He's written another extraordinary, humorous, original book. Three misfits met each other and became good friends. They didn't need anyone else. My favorite part was when John,Lorraine, and the Pigman went shopping and rollerbladed in the stores. Another good scene was when Lorraine and John dressed up in Mr. and Mrs. Pignati's clothes and...I won't give it away. The part about John making bombs is a gray area. Back when this book was written, kids never considered actually blowing things up. Now,it may give some readers bad ideas. Still, the book shouldn't be banned. Books and bombs aren't to blame for these problems, people who really make explosives are. Otherwise, though, this book was great. The ending affected me the way no other book has. "The Pigman" shouldn't be read by everyone, but I'd reccomend it to some.
Rating: Summary: A book filled with the reality that teenagers face everyday! Review: When I started to read this book for English, I didn't know what to expect. It was a bit slow getting into it, but once I did, I got totally wrapped up in it. I couldn't believe how much this actually relates to teenagers and their lives. I reccommend this book to anyone from 12-18, it is a brilliantly written book.
Rating: Summary: It captures your heart and never lets go. Review: You will laugh, cry, close this book, but you will never forget it.
