Rating: Summary: Good, but not of my taste Review: This is what I would call a timeless book. Its storyline still seems generally modern, thought it was written over forty years ago. Zindel really put it together well. It was a good book, but I gave it only four stars because I don't prefer books of this genre. I prefer books with twists, turns, and lots of surprises, while this was sort-of a comedy-drama. However, the complex characters and striking plot have pretty much made up for that. I would recommend this to a friend, especially to a quick-witted one with a sense of humor. This would definetly be a book for them!
Rating: Summary: The Pigman Review: There are many reasons why I give this book a rating of four stars. I loved this book! The Pigman is a heartwarming story about two teenagers, John and Lorraine, who have trouble "fitting in" at school. They don't have many friends, and they both have bad parents. They come to befriend and love an old, balding man named Mr. Pignati who provides them with an environment where they can talk about their problems and have fun. The thing that I least liked about the book was the details Zindel gave about John, how he cussed, smoked, and drank. I guess I didn't like that because I can't relate. For those who are looking for a good book to read, who appreciate sadness as well as humor, I highly recommend this book.
Rating: Summary: Pigman Review: Please do me a favour and do not read this book. I could hardly stand how BAD this book was. PLEASE for your own safty stay away from this book. It is also a bad influence on toddlers becuase t hey talk about getting drunk and smoking PLEASE FOR YOUR OWN SAFTY DONT READ THIS BOOK
Rating: Summary: G-R-E-A-T! Great Great Great! Review: I started to read this book in my reading class with Mr. Symons. I thought that it was going to be another book which made no sense until the end like I am the cheese! It was the best book, I have ever read. After that book I read the whole series! Hurray up and write another one Paul Zindel!
Rating: Summary: be sure to get "The Pigman's Legacy" Review: I was about 14 when I read this book and the ending broke my heart. It wasn't until I read "The Pigman's Legacy" that my faith in Lorraine and John, the protagonists, was restored. But that's the whole point of the novel, to be thought provoking and truthful, so truthful that it hurts. It's an epiphany.
Rating: Summary: the pigman review Review: The reason why I think Paul Zindel wrote this book was to tell all teens that you never really appreciate things till there gone.In this case, it was Mr.Pignati. The literary element he handles the best is the characters because he describes them well. He enjoys characterizing the characters in the novel as far as appearance and personality in the book. The event I learned the most from is when Lorraine called Mr. pignati and got into a conversation with Mr.pignati and he told lorraine things about his personal life, as far as him being lonely and him missing his wife. I think the book was perfect but I don't think Mr. Pignati should have died. Other than that, the book was great.
Rating: Summary: it was good Review: I think the author's purpose for writing this novel "The Pigman" was to show a reader that everyone has feelings and can easily be hurt. I agree with the message because it has happened to me before. The literary elements that the author handled best were characters and the setting. Paul Zindel told every detail about John, Lorraine and the pigman. He told from where Jhon started to drink and where he is now. He told us where the setting was, and what kind of mood it created. When John was in the graveyard he told us the grave was freshly dug, the stars were shining and the sky was blue. I learned the most from the scene when the pigman cried about Conchetta. It taught me that love is strong, which made the novel a good one but not the best. I think it didn't have enough suspense. The characters were always either talking or either explaining someone or something. It was like the saying "More talk less action". I give this book a 3.92345678 but since there only even numbers a 4 stars.
Rating: Summary: BOOK REVIEW Review: I think the authors purpose for writing this book was to let teenagers know about responsibility. I agree because I think it is good to be responsible. I think Zindel handled the style very well because he was very down to earth. I learned to be responsible and respectful from the scene when they have a party over Mr. Pignati's house without his permission. I think the book was perfectly done and I think it was wonderful.
Rating: Summary: Very Interesting Review: Paul Zindel wrote this book because he had met a kid who was fifteen and he had allot of adults who didn't trust him. This teen did drink allot of beer and got into mischief, but nobody really took the time to get to know him, everybody just judged him by his cover. He had a friend who would cry whenever she heard somebody had died. Paul Zindel also knew someone who had a friend that collected piggy banks, Paul always wanted to write about somebody who collected piggy banks, so he added " the pigman." The Author tried to put Romance, Honesty, mischief, action, and suspense. I think that he did a very good job of fitting in those five things!
Rating: Summary: The Pigm Review: Although some of the content of this book is wonderful, some of it outdated. I like the book, but my students do not always stay interested.
