Rating: Summary: Book Review for Princess in Waiting Review: Would you like to be separated from your boyfriend for 32 days? That¡¯s what happened to Amelia Mignonette Grimaldi Thermopolis Renaldo, also known as Mia. Princess in Waiting by Meg Cabot is a story about a princess that doesn¡¯t give up to go out on her first date with her boyfriend.Mia, the main character, doesn¡¯t give up no matter what happens. Also, she always tries to make everyone happy. Mia has brown hair, brown eyes, she is very tall, and she is 14 years old. She also hates algebra. At the beginning, the story takes place in a palace in Genovia, which made Mia go crazy because she couldn¡¯t talk to Michael, her boyfriend, that often. The rest of the story takes place in New York, and when she arrives, Michael asks Mia out on their first date. However, as always, Grandmere ruined it. In case you don¡¯t know, grandmere is how Mia calls her grandmother. She tells her that she has to go to a black-and-white ball on Friday night, which is the same day as she has to go to Screaming Room with Michel, their first date. But at the same time, Mia is really worried because she thinks Michael will break up with her just because she can¡¯t go out with him. She is also worried because she figures out that she doesn¡¯t have a special talent. That¡¯s when Lily, her best friend, tells her she does have a talent, so Mia spends all her time trying to figure out her talent. But of course at the end everything turns out great, better than Mia thought it would have. I really liked this book. Well, to be honest, I loved it! I think is great specially because this book is not boring at all. Not even at the beginning! I also read this book almost at once and I also love to read about Mia, the main character of this book, now that I read all the books of Princes Diaries. I also think girls will like this book because is about a princess and quiet different than the other ones. I think the boys will not even want to open this book because is about a princess, but if they read it, I¡¯m pretty sure they will not hate it. But still, if anyone gets a chance to read this book, they should read it!
Rating: Summary: Great book, funny and entertaining, but a little confusing Review: I've read some of the reviews here and it seems most readers don't seem to like this book as much as the other ones. However, I personally liked this book but maybe I'm just easy to please. The book starts off with Mia being in Genovia during her Christmas break and her formal introduction to the Genovian populace. After a disastrous televised address where Mia inadvertently starts a debate over whether or not to install parking meters in Genovia, Mia attends all the political/royal activities planned by Grandmere and gets lectured by her grandmother for having veered off course from her prepared speech. Between acting like a princess and being tortured by Grandmere, Mia obsesses over her newly acquired boyfriend Michael (whom she has had a crush on forever), recording the days since she last saw him and then the days when she will see him again. Finally Mia returns to New York to more princess lessons from Grandmere on account of the whole parking-meter thing, more Algebra, and finally gets to see all her friends again, but best of all, her boyfriend. Just when Mia thought she was to finally have a date with Michael (seeing Star Wars at a screening room), she finds out her grandmother had other plans in mind: She wants Mia to attend a black and white ball hosted by one of Grandmere's old rivals, Countess Trevanni. Mia does not know what to do. Fancy shmancy ball or corny date with boyfriend (no offense but star wars??)? In the end, everything turns out fine and I think the end is probably the best part!!! Cabot's writing matches the other Princess Diaries books portraying Mia as a witty, sarcastic, anxious, misfit teen who is out to conquer and change the world, whether they are ready for her or not. What I really liked about this book was that everybody seemed to have a goal in this book. Lilly is determined to meet with the produces of the movie based on Mia's life (and she does and gets a very exciting offer), Michael has decided to start a band (along with Boris), Tina has to get over her boyfriend Dave, and Mia... well Mia has a bunch: achieve self-actualization, find out her secret talent, and learn how to be a princess etc... It was a little disappointing to see some favorite characters fading out such as Mr. Giannini and Mia's mom and dad and Lana. I understand not all characters can be present in a book but Mia's mom is sort of more important than Prince Rene, no offense. But I liked the introduction of Prince Rene, hopefully he'll show up in future books (including with Sebastiano, Rene made up for Sebastiano's total exclusion from the book... heck i wish Hank would show up too lol) For those of you who found Mia to be repulsive and too self-centered with her own life, guess what??? That is completely normal!!! EVERYBODY is like that when they are a teenager!! I'm like that too, sometimes I don't think about others and yes I may act like the world revolves around me!!! It's how we are (i'm a teenager!), we kind of forget about our parents as we start leading our own lives complete with romance, friends, school, work, and other activities. I mean come on, give me a break. Mia is here to show us none of can be perfect, even though she tries to be. Do you expect her to be selfless and always think of other people??? I like her the way she is, it's good to know that I'm not alone in thinking the world seems to be against me sometimes!!
Rating: Summary: WAHOO!!! Review: When books are made into movies, the author usually ends up making their following books as cheesy and as bad as the movie, or not follow the regular plot. Well, this book isn't like those other ones. This one seems to ignore the movie, and continue on with it's pattern. I really enjoyed this one, and it's just as amusing as the rest. Mia is always amusing and you can totally relate to her struggles. Read it, It's great. TRUST ME!!!
Rating: Summary: Review on Princess in Waiting Review: Princess in Waiting, is the fourth book in the Princess Diaries series. Princess in Waiting follows up on Mia, the main character, who found out she was a princess in the previous books. This book starts out in Genovia, the country that Mia is princess to. The book takes you into Mia's thoughts because it is written in diary form. Mia is just like any other teenager, except she is a princess. Mia just can't seem to figure out her new boyfriend, Michael, or why she doesn't seem to have any talents. She also has to deal with algebra, Grandmere, and more princess lessons. Princess in Waiting was a good book but I only recommend it if you have read the other three books. It is mostly just a follow up book on Mia and how she is dealing with the princess life. Mia can relate to most people, whether it is her grades, boyfriend or maybe even royalty. This is an easy read book, that shows just because you are a princess that doesn't mean all of your problems will be solved.
Rating: Summary: huh Review: starting off, I'm 17, which I know is a bit old for this series. however, the mia portrayed in the first book was flawed, but fairly easy to become attached to. much to my chagrin, as the series has grown, mia has become more and more like the girls she is supposed to dislike--boy crazy and selfish. By the fourth book, she portrayes everything that is wrong with female Teenage America. She is selfish and completely self involved, she is irritating, is unrealistic, and her concept of a healthy relationship has obviously been warped by the idiocies of american pop culture. she is in no way fufilling the intellectial potential the first book promised of. It is this kind of protagonist that warps the modern teenage mind and build repulsive ideas of "what life should be like". Instead of reading this, I would pick up "Tithe: a modern faerie tale" by holly black, and if you're up to it, "the feminine mystique" by betty friedan. DO NOT buy this book for anyone impressionable. I'm sorry Ms. Cabot, but I don't believe your character creates a self respecting image that young girls should emulate. (side point: notice, she doesnt attain "self-actualization" until she is with micheal. the message that idea sends is repulsive)
Rating: Summary: best one so far---other then the 1st one Review: I really lked this book better then all the others, besides the first one whiih is my favorite. But after reading some of teh other reviews a lot doesnt really happen in this book--i think it spent too much time w/her being in Geniva but i thought it was so sweet her and Micheal. There wasnt really too much of the other characters in it, but i think its way better then the 3rd book and about the same or better as the second so i would read it!!
Rating: Summary: ho hum Review: sorry, but this book just really didn't grab me. all the entries were practically the same, just with different wording and maybe a little something going on. i definently don't care for the book series as much as i liked walt disney's movie the Princess Diaries. i suppose some people may like it, but this person found it rather boring.
Rating: Summary: It just gets better Review: I am a huge fan of the Princess Diaries series. Once again I was impressed. I feel like I know Mia by the end of each book. I loved the suspense in this one as she waited for her trip to Genovia to finally be over so she could return to fat louie, her mother, Lily, and of course Michael. I have yet to spend more than 24 hours on any of Cabot's books. Once I start I can not get away. I hope there will ba another book in the series.
Rating: Summary: What Happend Meg? Review: Being an avid Princess Diaries Fan, I rushed out to get this book shortly after it came out. I was sorlry dissapointed. Instead of Mia's trademark humor or sarcasm, she's become self involved and doesn't care about others. The first part of the book tells about Mia in Genovia, where she has all this stuff to do, and goes on about how all she wants is to see Micheal. (Prince Renee, Mia's cousin is one of the only ups in this book). When she gets back to New York, she decieds she doesn't want to "chase after" Micheal, so she basically is realyl mean to him and doesn't return his calls. Then she spends 50 pages worrying about the fact that Micheal might dump her. Yuck. Mia is self involved, worring, and a brat. Don'y let this stop you from readign the first three, but PLEASE stay away from this one.
Rating: Summary: Don't listen to the other reviews! Review: This book was excellent! Mia was not a "spoiled brat" in this book. And it wasn't like she had had much dating experience, since all she had had was one half date with Josh and an almost unbarible relationship with Kenny. I liked this book because it wasn't like the other book. In my opinion, Mia was still quirky and fun, but more mature and clearly in love. It took me forever to find a book for teenage girls that I liked, and this one is on the top!
