Summary: a 13 year old reader
Review: Yes i know i am a little old to be reading this but it was wonderful. I loved how not everything was so sugared up. I love to read, one of the only in my grade but this i think would be good for everybody. It has such a great plot and its not so perfect. They use words that kids today really use such as stupid and shut up its really down to earth. I dont recamend this book for yonger readers but like 9-100 its totaly ok. I hope you all choose to read this book

Summary: I knew Harry Potter, and Artemis Fowl is no Harry Potter!
Review: OK, so I didn't REALLY know Harry Potter. Artemis Fowl is a weak anti-Potter, a villain I wanted to like, but found myself delighted in his failures. This book is light reading. The characters and plotlines do not have anywhere near the complexity of the Harry Potter books. Although the "hero" of the book is quite a villain, Artemis Fowl is not as dark as the last book or two of the Potter series and may be less nightmare provoking for precocious readers.

I enjoyed reading Artemis Fowl. A worthwhile dalliance while we await Rowland's next masterpiece. 100 years from now, when the Harry Potter books are considered classical literature, Artemis Fowl will likely go unremembered by all but the most avid literary trivia wonks.

Conclusion? If you enjoyed Harry Potter, and want more, you will likely enjoy this book if you can read it for itself, and not hope for the power and depth of the Potter series, on whose coattails it attempts to ride. A solid three stars.

Summary: A MUST read for anyone who likes fantasy or Harry Potter!
Review: I LOVED this book, but I think many people misunderstood it. One person thought that Artemis made a bad hero for the book, but I didn't think of him as the hero at all. One of the things I liked about this book was that the characters where not simply black and white. I admired Artemis for his intelligence and wit, but I cheered for Holly. I'd give this book five stars, right up there with Harry Potter.

Summary: Gosh that was a great book!
Review: "Artemis Fowl" was an exciting book with plenty of twist and turns. He makes Harry Potter seem like an innocent little boy. Artemis Fowl is a crimal with style that has no regards for the law and possibly no love for anything but gold and knowledge. He has a special gift for deceiving people, including Butler. He would possibly go to any length for gold.

Colfer has given us a very different view of what magic is and what it is not. Colfer has basically stayed with the traditional form of magic. Rowling, however, gives us the Hollywood view of magic. Rowling gives us the "med-evil" sort of magic and has no modern technology. Colfer has combined "med-evil" magic and modern magic.

This book was a very good book and I would suggest it to anyone who is interested in any kind of magic or fantasy.

Summary: In Those Hot Little Hands
Review: I am a 5th grade teacher. I have required my students to read Artemis Fowl to get them interested in reading. So far I have had to tell them to put the book away 10-15 times a day to complete their classwork. The kids just love this book. I have started a book club at Doswell E. Brooks Elementary School. I just WISH that they would do a lesson plan with higher order questions for the children to use in class. The same way they have done for the Harry Potter boks.

Summary: Excellent!
Review: One of the most annoying things in the world is that when two different books with a parallel line or two come out, someone will give the second author the label of "copycat". Very irritating. Harry Potter aside, this is an excellent book. Very good plot line, memorable characters, and a villain that the reader can't decide whether to sympathize with or despise. I recommend this one to any reader with a love of fantasy!

Summary: Artemis Fowl - a review
Review: It was a really good book. My favourite characters were Artmenis and Juliet. It is a good book if you like the HArry Potter series.

Summary: Good book but some parents may have to "edit" some words
Review: We start reading chapter books outloud in our home at a young age. This was one book that I did not read outloud to all of our children. It was OK for our 8 and 11 year olds but not for our 6 year old, IMHO. I must say that I really enjoyed it!! I did have to do some spontaneous "editing" of some words used in the book that are No-No's in our home. (like "shut-up", "stupid") It was really easy to substitute more acceptable words of the same meaning. I LOVE that the book had a strong female heroine!! I do think this is a book that I'd suggest borrowing from a friend or buying used if possible. Although a enjoyable read, I don't think it is a necessary addition to a home library.

Summary: Artemis Fowl-the best book!
Review: Eoin Koffler creates a fantasy world of good and bad as 12 year old artemous fowl tries to steal the pot of gold from fairies. little does he know that these fairies have weapons and are ready. It is a good book for ages 9+ all other ages may require adult help with some parts.
