Summary: Artemis... Foul?
Review: ...Turkey? Chicken? This is an endless joke amongst my friends who are out to tease me. This is one of my favorite books. I normally find full-out fantasy books to be a little too unrealistic for my tastes, and mostly a tad too long. However, this book meets all my "requirements."

The main character of Artemis Fowl is (you guessed it) Artemis Fowl. Eoin Colfer takes an unusual twist, though, making him the antagonist of his book. I never knew I was bored with the usual- the main character as the good guy- until reading this. Artemis is a kid who could send chills up your spine. He's ridiculously wealthy, and extremely intelligent. Oh, and he has Butler (his butler) who is his highly trained bodyguard and only friend.

The underlying presence of magic in this book, combined with the many action, military-type scenes, gives Artemis Fowl a unique feel among books.

Summary: Potentially good
Review: The villain of the story, Artemis Fowl, is twelve years old and a good portion of the story is told from his point of view. This interesting point of view could have shed a whole new light on an overused idea; however, the parts of the story that are told from his point of view are not omniscient. We know some of what he's thinking, but not really enough to understand his motives or his plans. This leads to suspense, but it leaves me wanting more. So what we're left with is the usual story with an unusually young villain, and not much more. There is a lot of action, fighting, gore and some bodily functions that might appeal to young boys, but I found them unnecessary. The fantasy part of the story involving fairies, goblins, and trolls is really nothing new. The fairies seem unbelievable, arrogant, and a little stupid. I found it hard to care about them. The plot was interesting enough to hold my attention until I got to the end, but not much longer.

Summary: >-< ABSOLUTLEY worth it..arTemis Fowl
Review: well..some people say this is over-hyped... characters are flat..no literature...
i don't really care about the literature part; some books might have all those meanings, hidden symbolism and all that yet they can be terribly boring...
THIS...is one of those kinds you have to finish once you start it.
the book is full of ideas... (all those high-tech stuff the fairies use...) also, the very idea of KIDNAPPING a fairy using modern technology is cunning...
and humor/sarcasm..etc. etc.
BUT, i'd say, it's ARTeMis Fowl himself that makes the book so interesting... there aren't that many "evil" protagonists out there...except for maybe japanese comics... (especially not when he/she is a child prodigy) i found him charming... acting so prim in his suit... childish/immature and mature at the same time.. sardonic. simply evil. merciless and merciful.
quite a character..
READ IT!

Summary: Groovy
Review: it was a good book. I couldn't put it down! I thought it was a really good book. It was very intersting since the main chacter was a good guy, instead of a bad guy. They also had ElP Recon were fairies. It was excellent.

Summary: Loved it!
Review: I loved this book. It was funny, sarcastic, and interesting. I am an adult reader and this book reminded me of the old Bugs Bunny cartoons, the ones where viewers of all ages found something to their taste. Violence is a part of this story of a criminal mastermind, but just one part. I found it was used appropriately, and several characters in the book routinely demonstrate that a good intellect is superior to a weapon. The book does not drip with morality, which is precisley why I believe it is very effective at communicating the fact that Artemis is just a little boy who wants his mommy and daddy - regardless of what he says or does.

Summary: Er...
Review: I can't really say whether this book is good or bad. The character, Fowl is interesting, maybe a tad "too smart" by it seems to just be about technology and ammunition. The plot is weak, probably only created to support the tech. stuff. It totally looks as if Colfer wrote a book about warfare, then decided to turn it into a storybook by adding a floppy outline which doesn't even hold.
After saying that, I must admit the descriptions are good, it helps you picture the characters, though it would be more exciting if Colfer decided to add in descriptions of Fowl and Butler bit by bit, changing it once in a while. He has this thing about repeating himself through the book.
You can agree or disagree with me...I seriously don't care.

Summary: Utter Dreck
Review: So much for the hype. This book has a lot of words, somewhat of a plot pretext, tons of clichés and none of the actual literature to pull it off. I found nothing believable (see 'suspension of disbelief'). The characters were flat, and I found the relentless diatribe against humans to be completely insulting. Read it if you want, but remember if you do, you will only encourage bad authors to continue to produce bad novels.

Summary: A fantastic and adventurous tale, but not for little ones.
Review: This book is masterfully written. The vivid details of the underworld and the daily life of "The People" are magnificent. I have not finished the SECOND book, but I find it hard to put down. The author's imagination is genius. Artemis Fowl is the boy genius we love to hate.

Summary: A good book, but...
Review: A good book, it was interesting, but i forgot about it quickly. I know, that might be kind of hard to understand, so i'll try to explain. You know how the really good books always stick in your mind? Like you never forget the characters, and some you may even daydream about (hehe ;))? Well, this book, I just forgot about. THen i saw the second book in Walden's (the bookstore at the mall i go to) and bought it. I still haven't read it. I read the first page or so, but couldn't really get into it. Read if you want.

Summary: Artemis Fowl a review by Mehgan
Review: In the year 2032 a thirteen-year-old boy and his manservant are on a mission to find a sprite, named Holly, and turn her into the police for the reward money. The thirteen-year-old super genius, Artemis Fowl the third, and manservant, Mr. Butler, have set out to recapture the fowl fortune and rebuild the fowl reputation.
In the book Artemis Fowl by Eion Collen, Mr. Butler is a highly trained defensive tactic system that will kill anything seen as a threat to the fowls. To add to the chaos Artemis must deal with the changes in his family's structure. His dad has disappeared and in turn, mom has taken a vacation from reality.
One of my favorite scenes is when Holly defeated the troll (people aren't supposed to see magical creatures). Another scene I like is when Mr. Butler's younger sister, Juliet, tries to wrestle with the pizza boy and then he runs away (which is strange for a 16yr.old girl. The boy was trying to crawl away but he couldn't. He kept yelling "Help, help, please ."Finally ,when Juliet realized what she was doing she let him go and the boy ran probably all the way back to Pashmina's pizza shop. Then the pizza was now filled with bugs and grass so she started to cry. I think they're all weird. As you might have guessed the fowl are weird but they're nice. I hope you read this funny but dramatic book.
