Rating: Summary: Chapter Four....just as good :) Review: It took a little while to get into, but I really loved this book. There's so much more going on in this book then in the previous three. It goes all over the place, none of the characters are really together. For instance in All I Want is Everything Blair and Serena were at St. Barts together and Nate and Jenny were dating. It makes the book so much more interesting and everyone goes way wild. In this book Serena is a little obsessed with Aaron, a nice change considering how obsessed Dan and Flow were with her. However, she ends up making him a little uncomfortable. Usually I love Serena, she's so carefree and happy you want to be her, but I found her a little bit annoying in this book. As for Blair, she has always been my favorite, and she definately shone in this book. She was less cold and went out of her way to hook Jenny up with some hottie from Bendals. I was a little worried for her, she nearly has an affair with a thirty-eight year old man, which is gross, considering she's seventeen. Blair really becomes human in this one, and her visiting re-hab and treating it like a spa was REALLY funny. Nate's story I didn't like so much because I thought the whole drug thing became a little scary. I mean obviously drugs are bad but you didn't really pay attention to the whole idea of Nate lighting up in the others, you just assumed that he, being the good boy that he is, wasn't actually addicted to them. Not only that but then the girl from rehab was slightly weird and that whole relationship, his story was a bit out there in terms of the rest of the book. Jenny ends up finally making friends with a girl her age, only to have that girl become interested in more then friendship with her. Dan and Vanessa both finally get discovered. Dan gets published in the New Yorker and it all goes to his head. He ends up sleeping with a girl named Mystery who's supposed to be the next Sylvia Plath, despite her infamous yellow teeth. Vanessa of course stays grounded and is slightly miffed by her suddenly sold-out boyfriend. It was an awesome book, and I definately think you should buy this one if you've read the first three. And if you haven't...this is an awesome series, buy them all !!!
Rating: Summary: Not happy Review: I guess I'm number two to review this. Being an avid reader of this series, I waited and WAITED for this book to come out. I wanted to see if Blair got into Yale, the aftereffects that Nate's "infidelity" had on Jenny, and whether or not Serena could stay with Aaron for longer than two seconds. All but one of my questions were answered: Did Blair get in or not? Who knows? At this point, who cares? I was ready to put Blair through a wall. I find the character totally unbelievable, bitchy, and egocentric. While some may find her enjoyable, I wanted to vomit over her overflowing self-absorption. Also: If possible, all the characters are totally unlikable now. Even Dan, who was a bit neurotic, is now a rock-star poet wannabe who got rid of Vanessa because he became semi-famous. How annoying. At least Serena stayed the same. I'm not so sure if I want to read the 5th book (if there is one) Overall: Not impressed.
Rating: Summary: The Most Amazing Gossip Girl Yet Review: This long awaited fouth installment of the Gossip Girl novels lives up to it's hype. The characters all change in so many ways that if you haven't recently read (or re-read, as in my case) the past three novels, you might get them confused. While both Serena and Nate take the incredibly predictable route, Blair, Dan, and Jennifer most certainly do not. Perhaps this book has one too many twists and does not tie up all the loose ends by its finish, but it is incredibly addicting and teriffic nontheless. The author said it best herself in the first novel : "Gossip is sexy, gossip is good. Not everyone does it but everyone should"
Rating: Summary: Another hit in the scandalous series Review: This is the 2nd best book in the series the 1st one being the best! I was kind of let down with the 2nd and 3rd but still enjoyed them a lot. This book had even more brand drops and they let loose even more being the second semester of senior year! Wait and see where everyone got in you would be suprised!
Rating: Summary: Not Exactly Worth It Review: First of all, I'm pleased to be the first person to review this book. The fourth, and according to my sources, final Gossip Girl installation is the weakest of all of them. All of the old characters are up to their old party-hearty ways with a few getting into pretigious colleges. A rough outline of the story: Nate gets caught with drugs and is forced to take rehab. Serena is dating Aaron and posing for Les Best's fashion show. Blair is determined to win over her Yale interviewer and gets her hair cut in a Audrey Hepburn style look. Jenny makes a new friend who is, to be polite, slightly nuts. Dan and Vanessa get their share of publicity from the published poem and filmwork. And the always irritating Chuck is suspected of being gay. I liked the story though I felt it to be weaker than the last three and often humorless. My favorite charcter turned out to not be Serena as it had for the last couple of books. It was actually Blair who I felt most girls could relate to since she always has tons of stress and Serena just doesn't. And the burning question, who is Gossip Girl? Read the book and find out but expect to be a little confused.
Rating: Summary: Great book! Review: I really love this book. Being 17, being their age, really makes it a lot more enjoyable to read. I even suggested this book to my 14 year old cousin! It truly is a pretty accurate representation of teens today, even though these teens are uber-rich, super cool, trendy, and did I mention rich? I love the interesting, dynamic people (even though Serena is pretty shallow, I still think she'd make a pretty awesome best friend), and I like the way the author balanced the super rich kids (Blair, Serena, Nate, etc.) with the kids that live in their world, but live in it rather on the outskirts (Dan, Vanessa, etc.) I loved this book so much, I couldn't resist buying the newest Gossip Girl (number 5!) a few days after it was released. Super read, pure fun, great beach/teen fiction!
Rating: Summary: Sex, fashion, drugs and...Yale?! Review: This, in my opinion, is one of the better Gossip Girl books, despite some of the less kind reviews. The GG gang makes a plethora of effortless achievments: Dan's published poem in the New Yorker, Serena suddenly transforming into a glam model, Vanessa's film being used as a backdrop for the long-anticipated NYC fashion show. And then there are some things not to flaunt and take pride in. Like Blair's botched Yale interview and Nate's getting busted for smoking weed, for example. Blair tries to redeem herself by speaking to one of the Yale alumni and prospects of him putting in a good word for her seem good. But then, an affair begins between them (innocent type, I'd say). As for Nate, his landing into a clinic for problem teens introduces Georgina Sparks, an ethereal Snow White-type beauty who has an ugly problem with prescription drugs. They chill at her grandiose palace and Nate saves her from nearly dying of a prescription overdose. Blair, meanwhile, realizes her sexy leading man isn't the Clark Gable to her Audrey Hepburn she thought he was. When Blair tries to win back Nate's love, she humiliates herself at the clinic, first by admitting to her bulimia. Plus, she meets her new competition. Now, Georgina Sparks is vying for Nate's affections, only the vying really seems to be over with. Georgie's clearly won. I find it irking Serena has no real issues in any of the books, unless you count her almost being a leper when she first returned to New York from boarding school. Still, she was quickly able to bounce back from that "trauma." Now, she debuts as a runway model in the fashion show, one in which Christina Ricci is a guest. Meanwhile, she's fallen head over heels in "love" with Aaron, Blair's sexy, herbal cigarette-smoking stepbrother. Vanessa submits Dan's poem, "Sluts," to the New Yorker. "Sluts" proceeds to head on towards worldwide fame. Mention the title and instantaneously, the New York population knows just what you're talking about. And despite the fact that Dan is angry at Vanessa (he channeled the anger into the poem), he is pleased to have that recognition - it goes to his head. Proof of this is his affair with Mystery Craze, the yellow-toothed and yellow-nailed poet who Dan finds incredibly sexy for some peculiar reason. Also proof of his insanity is his agent, who feels the need to use the expression, "%$^& me!" in almost every sentence. I wanted to smack her, strangle her, or both. In conclusion, Von Ziegesar's novel can either make you yearn to be one of the members of the GG gang or feel sorry for them. Their parents are self-centered and don't care at all for the well-being of their children. These spoiled Manhattanites are permitted do do whatever they want, whenever they want, as long as they keep up their appearances up so that it doesn't reflect badly on the family. No matter what, however, this novel is entertaining and an ideal addition to the GG series.
Rating: Summary: Because it WAS worth it Review: In the fourth installment of this brilliant series, von Ziegesar keeps you on the edge of your seat with this enticing and lustful story.
It is better than any addictive soap opera.
In this novel there was more focus on Dan and Vanessa(which turns out to be quite interesting in the end).
Adorable Nate is actually caught and sent to rehab where he meets an intriging girl who he is instantly drawn to.
Blair, who is deperately trying to get into Yale, falls for her older and married Yale interviewee.
Ahh, Serena, who books a gig as a runway model just by being Serena. Serena and Aaron are a thing, but how long will it last? And will we ever find out who the real Gossip Girl is?
One can only read to find out....
Rating: Summary: I love Gossip Girl Review: I got introduced to Gossip Girl by my best friend Stephanie. I thought to myself Im not going to read 6 books about the same thing. Stephanie told me to try it and if I didnt like it I could stop reading it. The first night I was like ok Im going to open the book and read a little bit and see if I like the book.
I couldnt put the book down after the first couple of chapters. I loved it the way there life relates so much to mine and my friends. The way Blair loved Nate and she was just a game for him had a lot to do with me and my x boyfriend's relationship. I would have many problems with him and have the worst day, and at night come home to my warm bed and cuddle up with Gossip Girl. The reason why I love Gossip Girl is that it keeps you interested and it dosent let you down. Its not boring like other books that are predictable. Gossip Girl keeps you guessing and none of the guesses are what happens. And I love that. I also heard that they are making a movie and I cant wait till it comes out. I have read the first 3 books in less than a month and I cant wait till I buy the others. Im really excited to find out what happens after Nate is without Blair or Jenny, and how Blair is to react to the thought of Serena going out with Aaron. Its wierd because the last thing I remember is Aaron looking at Blair and Nate talking and feeling sad. I wonder if he still has feelings for her. And I really do hope Blair loses it in the next couple of books. I know exactly how she feels about Nate and her when they were going out and she wanted to do it but she couldnt. I still havent lost mine and Im the same. Well Cecily keep up the good work its awesome and I'll be reading the next couple of books. I cant wait to read more of your work!!!
Rating: Summary: Excellant! Review: I truthfully was expecting the series to be a total washout when I picked up the first book, but ever scince then I proved myself to completly and flat out wrong. These are the best books I 've ever read and comletely engross me every time I read them. I feel as if I'm right there with the characters. However, you have to be a mature reader to be able to read these books becuase you wouldn't want a nine year old to read them.I love fasion and can relate to the characters with their problems. I would give this book m highest recommedation along with the rest of the series. Always, K.J.
