Rating: Summary: A fun sequel Review: A fun, not too fluffy, summer read, The Second Summer continues the life and times of four close friends and their families. Brashares makes her characters real and does not sugar coat issues in standard young adult fiction drivel which creates a good read for teens and adults. The Second Summer's downfall is its inability to stand on its own. If you have not read The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, you will most likley have difficulty understanding what is going on - because most of the plot it is based on things that came before. So pick up BOTH Traveling Pants books and settle in for an adventurous summer!
Rating: Summary: better than the first! Review: This along with The Sisterhood of the Traveling pants are my two favorite books. I think it was even better than the first something i thought would be impossible. Yet again the four friends find themselves seperated for the summer and find a way to keep in touch-the traveling pants. But I warn you, its another tear jerker and extremely hard to put down. It has lots of romance, tragedy, and humor and of course friendship. I think that any woman that reads this book will not be disapointed. I loved it so much it was like looseing a friend when it was over. I hope Ann Brashares makes a third book because she truly does write amazing books!
Rating: Summary: A sweet taste of Now and Then Review: I loved this book series and if you loved the first book you'll most definetly enjoy this one as well. These books give a new meaning to love and friendship, they show you that even the strongest friendships and relationships hit rocky points. In my opinion i think this series should be made into movies. It'd be like a new school version of the movie "Now and Then". I dunno about anyone else but I'd sure go and see it.
Rating: Summary: A fantastic, dramatic, and captivating read Review: The day I got out of school, I bought this book and by the next day I had finished it! This book really keeps you reading. It is a simple read that is written very wittily with a carefully crafted plot. The four main characters are so different that everyone will relate to at least one of them. This book focuses not only on the four main characters summers but their mother-daughter relationships. Yeah, I know, it sounds soo cheasy. But really it's cool to see other girls having the same problems with their moms as you. Another thing I liked about the book was the romances practically every female in the book was having. They add alot of flavor. The only problem I found with this book was its precdictability. That's really how all dramas are, so it's basically unevoidialbe if they will have a "happy ending" like this book had. Overall, this book was great and really can relate to all teenage girls lives in some way.
Rating: Summary: AS GOOD AS THE FIRST( and that's saying something!) Review: A really great book! One of my favorites... now the SISTERHOOD is easy to relate to! You read it from all 4 girls stories while there away from each other... my favorite girl was Bridget! One of the other greatest things was how good of friends they are and how much love they have for one another... its a special book to pass around so dont be put off by the name of the book and its cover( I know i was! but it just goes to show i was underestimating this AMAZING book!)
Rating: Summary: this book rox! Review: This is one of my favorite books ever! Everything about it. I cried my eyes out when I read the whole lena kostos thing. I love how Bee got back to her self and carmen worked it out with her mom. I hope there is a 3rd!
Rating: Summary: A AWESOME SEQUEL Review: A GREAT SEQUEL, THIS BOOK IS FILLED WITH ALL EMOTIONS. THE FOUR GIRLS PULL OUT THE PANTS AND PACK UP FOR ANOTHER SUMMER. TIBBY: GOING TO FILM CAMP, SHE BETRYS A OLD FRIEND(NOT ONE OF THE SISTERHOOD)AND MAKES SOME NEW ONES. HER FILM IS TWO THUMBS... LENA: STUCK AT HOME AND MISSING KOSTOS( THEY ARE NOW BROKEN UP) SHE GETS A LOUSY JOB AND MOPES AROUND UNTIL SOMEONE SHOWS UP FROM FAR AWAY(A MATURE STORY, 13 AND UP) CARMEN: ALSO AT HOME, CARMEN FINDS A BOY TO DATE... BUT SO DOES HER MOM!!! AND WHEN HER MOM DOES THE UNTHINKABLE SHE TRIES EVERYTHING TO MAKE HER UNHAPPY. BRIDGET: BEE HAS A WHOLE NEW LOOK... BLACK HAIR DYE AND A COUPLE EXTRA POUNDS. BUT WHEN SHE FINDS A LETTER FROM HER GRANDMOTHER SHE RUNS OUT OF TOWN TO SEE HER. UNFORTANATLY, THE PANTS DON'T FIT BEE ANYMORE... CAN SHE SURVIVE WITHOUT THEM! I WOULD TELL ANYONE TO READ THIS BOOK!!!! THE AUTHOR HAS DEVOLPED HER CHARECTERS VERY WELL AND THE WHOLE THING IS REALLY GREAT. SO GO AND READ IT!!!!!
Rating: Summary: ~~wow!! read this!!~~ Review: After reading the first one reading the second was a must. This book really tells it like it is. You have your ups and your downs. By the time i was reading the second book i really felt like I personally knew Tibby, Lena, Carmen, and Briget. It hurt when horrible stuff happened and it felt great other times. Ann Brashares really has the reader into the book feeling emotional over what happens. The plot was exciting!! Better than the first. Lets just hope theres a third summer!!
Rating: Summary: Even better than the first! Review: I loved The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, but I have to say that this one was even better! I loved it so much that I could probably read it again right now. There are a lot of surprises and new characters are introduced, but old ones are also brought back. This is a great book for teenage girls wholove to read and are looking for something fun to do when bored. You have my word, because it was so good I cried.
Rating: Summary: Yes! (Get it?) Review: I loved this book! It's so intriuigng (how do you spell that? whatever). I loved the story about Lena and Kostos, even though its so sad... I cried for a day. I could never be mad at Kostos, no matter what he does. i never would have thought that he was a person who would have sex before he got married. Oh, well. I also liked Carmen's story: she dealed with kind of normal stuff. Bee's story was pretty cool... I want to meet greta! And tibby, poor Tibby: I wish Brian would tell her how he feels.
