Rating: Summary: Awesome Review: I haven't read the first book, but I will now. This is a great book. The characters are very well developed and not unrealistic. The girls in the story have to deal with very realistic issues. The ending was adequite although it's obvious that there will be another book to follow. The part about Kostos towards the end made both me and my teenager a little emotional. I wouldn't recommend to anyone younger than 13 because there is some inapproiate material for younger children.
Rating: Summary: One of two great books Review: I don't know if I like the first one or this the best, but they both are very fun to read. I mean, you laugh, you cry, and I really don't think nudity is a problem, the book was made for young adults and 11 years should probably read books more pre-teen.
Rating: Summary: One of the Best Books I've read Review: The Second Summer of the Sisterhood was a great runner up to the first book. Even if the first book was a little better this book still deserves 5 stars. The relationships that the 4 girls have seem to grow over the second summer through all of their troubles and adventures. If you liked the first book you'll love this one!
Rating: Summary: Inappropriate Review: I read the first book called The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and their were only 2 parts of the book that were nasty. It included hugging and nudity. I thought that maybe the 2nd book would be better, so i read it. I got 2/3 of the way into the book and then their was the nudity again. I hated the book. It is sick.
Rating: Summary: sort of disappointed Review: if you read the first one, you'll definitely enjoy this one. i'm recommending this book to all readers, but while you're reading don't imagine how you want it to end...you will be disappointed. all and all this was a great book although it didnt reflect how i thought it should end.
Rating: Summary: The Best Review: One of my favourite books! It is better than the Hobbit and Harry Potter, though both of those were thrilling books and made me happy, I loved this one more because Ann Brashares puts more love and reality into the book than both JRR Tolkien and JK Rowling. Ann Brashares accurately describes a girl's life and points of views with friends and summer, and just about everything. Both the first and second are wonderful books about 4 teen girls spending their first (and second) summer apart from a very close relationship with each other and are using these "magical" one fits all pants that keep them together while they are away. Truely magnificent.
Rating: Summary: Beautiful Review: This was a beautifully written book that engulfed me from the beginning! all of Tibby, Carmen, Bee, and Lena's problems were realistic and haunting. I LOVED this book as much as I loved the last one if not more!
Rating: Summary: A decent sequel Review: I give the first book five stars, but this one doesn't quite live up to the standard the other one set. It ties up loose ends, which is nice, but doesn't maintain the independence each girl had before. Sure, their voices and stories are different, but it's the same pattern for all four of them, just with different events. This book focuses on the relationships that each girl has with her mother (or in Bee's case, grandmother). That was just a little too cookie-cutter for me. It's still a great book, and next to other books, rates much higher than three stars. This rating is only next to the first book.
Rating: Summary: Powerful, will leave you breathless Review: This is a great sequel! The book is very real, which I think makes it so believable and appealing. You see the characters in a new light in this book, you really get to know all 4 girls a lot better. While the first one was good, i think this one was better. It was a more emotional, more edgy book. Like the first one, I recommend this book to ages 14 and up. Some of the experiences may be too emotional for anyone younger. The book opens as their summer before their senior year (they are 16 turning 17). If you didn't read the first one, obviously don't read this one yet because you won't know what's going on. I Think this is one of the best book series ever. If you liked the first one, you'll love this one.
Rating: Summary: Keep churning out those sequels! Review: SISTERHOOD was great, and I read it (and it's pretty thick) in one sitting through eyes droopy from lack of sleep. It's a rare thing when a book can alternately make you laugh or cry. It's a rare thing when a sequel can maintain the steam of the first. It's a rare thing when an author can string words together that make you go, "Wow! She can WRITE!!" Ann Brashares has pulled off all of the above. SISTERHOOD, like TRAVELING PANTS before it, maintained 4 distinct voices thoughout. Each story within the story was fully developed and absorbing and had a point. The reader (at least this one) very much cares about what happens to all of the characters in the book. The reader never wants the book to end! I also very much appreciate how Brashares portrays the sexual relationships (or near one in SISTERHOOD) with dignity and responsibility. Almost every YA book out there without exception paints teen sex as exciting and irresistable and without consequences. Brashares makes the point that teen sex may be out there, but it's not something to be taken lightly. It leaves a certain type of scar, and the bearer of that scar will really never be the person she once was before she had the experience -- whether the experience was good or bad. Brashares treats sex as the grown up, mature thing that it is meant to be. YA's need more books available to them that reflect this view. Well, I can't wait until next summer (or maybe sooner? Please?) to spend another sleepless night with an Ann Brashares "sisterhood" book under my booklight.
