Rating: Summary: Teen Reader Review: I really loved this book all the way around! These four teenage girls remind me so much of me and my friends and the things we do. I thought this second addition was just as good as the 1st Sisterhood book and maybe even a little better. They are so exciting and always wants you to read more to find out what happens with one of the girls next. I couldn't put it down and read the whole book in about 3 days. I would highly recommened these books to any teen girl who is looking for something good to read this summer.
Rating: Summary: A Summer Must Read! Review: I absolutely loved this book! I simply could not put it down. I could really relate to almost all the characters. Being fourteen years old myself I have went through many of the stuff all the girls were going through. "The Second Summer of the Sisterhood" is about four girls and the extraordinary summer they encounter. All four girls have very different personalities, so everyone who reads this should be able to relate one way or another. Lena is the shy but beautiful one. She fell in love last summer while visiting her grandparents in Greece. She and Kostos are deeply in love until a tragic secret threatens to tear them apart. Bridget is very outgoing and always makes her decisions impulsively. Her mother dies when she is very young so she goes to visit her grandmother in Alabama and hopefully recover her family roots. She also need to find a little self-discovering herself. Tibby is the rebel, or at least she wants everyone to think so. This summer she enrolls in a summer film program and tries to find where she fits in. Tibby also brings up issues from last summer that she has tried to put away for good. Carman struggles with her divorced mother dating again. Its not that she dislikes her mothers new boyfriend, just that she mother is acting like a teenager and making a complete fool of herself. So Carmen makes it her job to put away her love life and become part of her mothers. The only problem is, Carmen tends to get carried away. Although each girl's story was very interesting my personal favorite was Lena's. I caught myself peeking ahead to see what was going to happen next. I ended up shedding a few tears at the very end also. I highly recommend this book to all teenage girls. It is a perfect book for summer reading. Don?t forget to bring a box of tissues too! These girl?s adventures are a rocky rollercoaster ride but in the end they all have each other. This book deserves 5 stars.
Rating: Summary: SUPER DOOPER GOOD! Review: OMG! Anybody who is anybody would definitely love this book. It is so awesome! I seriously could not put it down. It is way way way better then the first! I love it so much! Guess what everyone?! Ann is making a THIRD BOOK! It's about when they all go to college and solve their problems from the 2nd book. I can't wait!!! yeahhhh I'm gonna explode! Rating: Summary: even better the second time around! Review: I think Ann Brashares did a great job recapturing the magic of the traveling pants! In this sequel to the Sisterhood the Traveling Pants, relationships are examined more closely--with friends, mothers, and boys---tougher issues are brought up...and you end up loving the characters more than ever! I love that the book focuses on Tibby, Carmen, Lena, and Bridget's stories...you can never get bored as the plot is constantly shifting from girl to girl. This book truly inspired me to take better care with my own friendships...and to remember that it's ok to lean on people sometimes (Lena's experience seemed to have that message tailor-made for me). My only complaint is that some of the events w/Lena and Kostos were really predictable...but nevertheless, I think Brashares puts a really realistic but heartening spin on teenage life and friendships. It's really hard to find good young adults books...but this definitely qualifies!
Rating: Summary: GREAT!! Review: This is a great book. The whole thing is really realist and there are cool tidbits of advice and qoutes on the side. Thats really neat. When the aurthor is switching from each prov., its not confushing at all and thats good. I hate it when the prov. of each person is really confushing and by the time you get through that prov. you finally get who it is. Its really neat book and great story line. READ IT!!!
Rating: Summary: The Second Summer is Twice as Good as the First Review: The Second Summer of the Sisterhood starts out with the four girls that we left off with last summer. Like the first book, Lena, Carmen, Bee, and Tibby must make their own journey through the summer. Each of the four girls is faced with obstacles that prove to make them only stronger individuals. And stronger individuals prove to make an even stronger friendship. Carmen stays home this summer babysitting and starting a new romance, but she isn't the only one in her family having a relationship this summer. Krista and Paul also come to visit Carmen for a while this summer. Lena also stays home, working at a boutique geared for middle-age women. Lena also discovers something interesting about her mother. Bee takes off for Alabama in search of finding herself, and facing her past. She disguises herself under the name Gilda, and with this disguise she helps her grandmother by doing what she can around the house. Tibby goes off to a nearby film school. As she makes new friends, Bailey and the lessons that she taught Tibby are constantly in her mind. I loved this book. I thought it was twice as good as the first. It answers questions that the first book did not answer, and also has life lessons that provide for a comical, yet tear-jerking read. Before reading The Second Summer of the Sisterhood, I strongly advise anyone to read The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, to understand where these girls are coming from.
Rating: Summary: The Second Summer of the Sisterhood Review: Ever since i finished reading The first book, I had been hoping that a sequal would come out because I loved the first book and I was anxious to see what happens next in the lives of Carmen, Tibby, Lena, and Bee. I would definately say that this is a good book, i couldn't put it down because I couldn't wait to see how everything worked out. It wasn't, however, as good as the first book, and the ending was a little bit depressing. I would definately recomend it to anybody who liked the first book. Just as a word of advice, don't start it until you have plenty of free time to finish it or else you will spend all of the time when you aren't reading it thinking about how it will all play out. i hope that my review was helpful to everyone who reads it.
Rating: Summary: One of the BEST! Review: I enjoyed reading this book so much! I really related to the characters and their interactions and experiences together. Being 16, myself, I have many of the same thoughts and feelings as the rest of the characters. This is one of those books that you never want to put down. I could not take my eyes off it for a minute, my mother even had to ask me to turn off the light and go to bed one night! (Enough about me...) If you are questioning whether to read, or buy, this book, it is a definite yes. I loved the first so much that I ordered it and the Second summer of the Sisterhood and I really look forward to reading them both again! I hope this review has helped!
Rating: Summary: Perfect, As I Expected Review: After staying up until 2am reading the Sisterhood of the Travelling, I wouldn't have believed you if told me that this sequel could be anything other than amazing. I don't think Ann Brashares is capable of writing anything other than a 5 star book. It's more of the same - but in a good way. The ups and downs of the 4 girls through their summer. This one didn't make me cry like the first one did, but it was still addictive and well worth the money I spent on a hardcover copy. It doesn't feel repetitive or succumb to bad sequel syndrome. I hope she makes it a trilogy!
Rating: Summary: Depressing 4 me Review: I thought this was a great book, but even though it was great I thought it was quite depressing. I was real [upset] at what happened with stupid ugly Kostos (who said he couldnt leave her cuz he was a gentlemen, if he was such a gentleman he wouldnt have had sex with that other girl on like the second date ... If u liked Kostos in the first book than u probably will grow 2 hate him in the second book.
