Rating: Summary: A book that deserves an A+ Review: This is a very good good book. Probably the best book I have ever read. It is a book that you just can't put down. Every time a chapter ends you just have to read the next one. In some parts of the book it just keeps you guessing. This was such a good book that I read it in one day. I would recomend this book to any 11-13 year old.
Rating: Summary: Oh Starry Girl Review: This book is amazing. It is truly defying with its characters, settings, and story. You will love this book.
Rating: Summary: good book Review: Stargirl is about a tenth grade girl who goes to Mica High School in Arizona. She is a cheerleader who cheers for both teams. Even if the other team would make a basket she would start cheering because that was her personality, to be nice to other people. Her friend Leo who wants her to change into someone who is normal, is her best friend. She isn't normal because she dresses weird and acts very strange. She also changed her name to Stargirl from Susan. Leo ends up getting Stargirl to change by changing her into a normal person with normal clothes and changes her name back to Susan. I would recommend this book to anyone if they were trying to find a good book. It's a good book for anyone my age. I recommend that you read this book called Stargirl!
Rating: Summary: Stargirl Review: Stargirl, Jerry Spinelli 0-439-44443-8 "She was elusive. She was today. She was tomorrow. She was the faintest scent of a cactus flower, the flitting shadow of an elf owl. We did not know what to make of her. In our minds we tried to pin her to corkboard like a butterfly, but the pin merely went through and away she flew." The genre of the book Stargirl is fiction and fantasy. Stargirl was different from most students. She was the past, present, and the future. First, accepted then rejected, at Mica school. When she caused a stir she became someone else for others. It didn't change how people felt, only hurting herself. What students learned, was to be a little kinder. I thought this book was amazing, and surprising. I would definetly recommened this book to any school age student. Stargirl was such a page turner because your imagination goes wild over the girl, Stargirl. You will not stop reading this book, until it's over. Stargirl is so different, but yet real. She really expresses herself differently than others. What really surprised me, and held my interest, was when Stargirl had started dating Leo, and how Leo wanted to change her so badly. Anybody with a kind heart would enjoy or relate to this book, because she is so loving and kind.
Rating: Summary: Stargirl Review: I had to read Stargirl for a book group in my seventh grade class. It is about a girl who acts differently than everyone else in her school. Stargirl was home-schooled until the tenth grade and therefore doesn't act like the other sudents in the school. The main focus of the story was describing how the other students reacted to Stargirl. I didn't like the book. It wasn't very realistic. Stargirl was too exotic to be real. The book didn't have a plot to keep you interested. It seemed to go on forever repeating the same thing over and over. It was an easy read for the age group that it is rated for. I probably would have liked it better when I was in fifth grade.
Rating: Summary: Full Stars for Stargirl Review: This was an amzing book, based on accepting other people and their indiviguality. Stargirl is a diffrent girl from others, she wears crazy patch dresses and sings with her guitar in the lunchroom, everybody else blocks her out calling her names like 'freak' and 'weirdo'. Soon enough she catches the eye of a fellow classmate, and they hit off right from the start. Even though Leo is hesitant, he relizes she not better or worse than anybody else just diffrent. Popularity and rumors break Leo and Stargirl apart with a mezmirizing yet sad ending that will leave you yearning for more. I highly recomend this book for people who love conflict and resolution and rember the quote: Nobody is beter or worse than anybody because of their clothes, skin or features JUST DIFFRENT!~~~~ Read this book and u'll get my drift and be liftd off your feet with this stunning novel!
Rating: Summary: Well-accepted by HS students Review: I am a 9th grade English teacher. I taught this book to heterogeneously-grouped students this fall. They loved it! The language alone gives this book five stars. There are vocabulary words to be derived from each chapter. Allusions occur frequently, and literary devices like simile and metaphor are throughout the book. I focused on the important themes of individuality and conformity. This book also has the importance of names and teenage love as themes, too. Overall, this book was joy to teach and would be a good addition to middle school or high school English courses. Stargirl will touch you! Read it!
Rating: Summary: Stars on "Stargirl" Review: The book "Stargirl" written by Jerry Spinelli is a mystery to me. Its the kind of book that everyone should love to read. It leads you all sorts of little things that put you on the edge of your seat or not being able to put the book down. I persoannly loved the book because the author used so very many descriptive words to describe things in every chapter. The book is great, its amazing how a book like this can be so interesting. "Stargirl" herself is like no other. She goes around changing everything around her knowing every step what she is doing until it gets bad!The plot changes every chapter to keep you going and wanting to read more. Its all around a short mystery that everyone should read at one point or another.
Rating: Summary: EXCELLENT!! Review: Stargirl is about a girl who moves to town named Stargirl. Actually she's called susan but her name changes when her mood does. She sees the world as not many people see it. Asa place to enjoy yourself and relax. That was a very good quality of the book. I though that there was absolutely nothing bad about this book. It was also great because I learned a lot about normal life. (not that Stargirl is normal) I thought that the Porcupine necktie idea was brilliant because it's what brought this story to become a REAL story and that idea was carried from the cover to the back. READ THIS BOOK! It's brilliant! for 10-160 years old [...]
