Summary: Stargirl the individual.
Review: I am reading a book called Stargirl. The book is written by Jerry Spinelli. My book is about a girl who comes to high school from a life of being home schooled. She is very different to a normal eye. She is way out there. She wears loud clothing, carries a pet rat where ever she goes, and decorates her desk in class with a table cloth and flowers in a vase. She sits with herself at lunch and plays the ukelele for everyone to hear; especially on peoples birthdays. She says hello to everyone who passes her and smiles.
She is always up and happy.
Anyways she gets caught up in the mix and becomes real popular. People start to like her style and copy it. Something happens and everyone turns on her. So she tries her best to get their attention again by not really being herself. Well that didn't go to well.
I learned from this book a lot about individuality. I know now that its important, without the individuality in each of us, we wouldn't be that different. To me its another war in life we each fight. We fight for our rights to be individuals.

Summary: starwoman (an adult reader)
Review: A 6th grader recommended this book to me. I read it, and the next time I saw her we had a great conversation about it. Stargirl is a wonderful character who has all the flavor of childhood memory, the memory of first love, of comforting rain and the feeling of waking up. A character like this is both unreal and hyper- real. The lack of awareness that Stargirl shows towards her bullies is unreal; she doesn't protect herself at all. But the real message that you should do what you feel is right for your soul, regardless of the consequences is unsentimentally conveyed.

Summary: She was elusive, today, tommorow...no one knew what she was
Review: The very first time I have seen this book was at a book fair at my school, the first time I saw it I never bought it because I thought it would be boring because the cover only had a girl with star above her head. While I was looking through a book order at school... When I finally received the book and started reading it I was very interested in it.
The book Stargirl is about, a girl named Stargirl who transfers to Mica High after being home schooled for most of her life. Stargirl always wears pioneer type dresses, no make up, meditates, knows people's birthdays, makes people feel good about themselves. When it was Stargirls first day at Mica high mostly everyone in the school was talking about her.
In this book there are many different characters in this book with different personalities that you would think any high school would have such as: popular, athletic, attractive, and so on. When Stargirl comes to the school everyone thinks she's weird and won't fit in with the rest of them. Later in the book Stargirl meets a guy named Leo, who is 16 that goes to the same school. Stargirl and Leo start to get to know each other better they begin to get closer and become boyfriend and girlfriend. Mica High for years have always lost every game they played, from basketball to soccer, until Stargirl came and became a cheerleader everything started to change.
While and after I read the book some things that I disliked about the book was that at times the plot of the story was confusing and didn't make any sense at all. Some things I like about the book is how the author used a narrator to tell the story and I liked the way the author put a little picture give an example of how the card looked like.
Overall, I think this book was really good to read. I highly recommend people from the ages 10 and up to read this book because it teaches a valuable lesson once you finish reading it and has a very interesting story plot.

Summary: Stargirl
Review: Stargirl, Jerry Spinelli's book is a friendship book. It is a great friendship book because it is about a boy and a girl who are really close friends. They meet at Mica High. You should read the book, Stargirl by, Jerry Spinelli.
Stargirl is a new kid at Mica High. She used to be homed schooled. Everyday Stargirl sings happy birthday to everyone. It was Valentine's and Stargirl only had one card and it was for someone very special. The card was for Leo. After she gave the card to Leo they became very good friends. They spent lots of time together and told secrets about their life. They even went to special places together and sat together at lunch. But one day Stargirl moved away to midwest Minnesota. After that they never saw each other again.
I recomend this book to you. This book is a page turner and your parents will have to tell you to stop reading. If you read this book you will find out how different Stargirl is from everyone else.

Summary: Thank you, Mr. Spinelli...
Review: Unlike many of the other reviews I will not summarize the plot as well, but give a public thank you to Mr. Spinelli for such a poignant story. Having just finished the audio version, I must applaud both the verbal performance (by John Ritter, excellent choice and we miss him dearly) and the excellent content.

As an adult reader, it caused me to reflect on my years in high school and remember, with some embarrassment, my need to conform and not rock the boat of popularity. I feel the book goes much beyond the surface story, touching on the deep human need to make a difference in other people's lives. Unfortunately, that longing is often lost early in life - the need for acceptance takes center stage and rarely gives up the spotlight.

This story made me laugh and cry, and shall join the short list of books I would take with me if ever stranded on a desert island. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Those wanting more of Mr. Spinelli's excellent work should also read the audio book Loser, performed superbly by Steve Buscemi.

I hope you're still out there, Stargirl. Please keep your eye on me, too.

This book is a story of a unique girl named Stargirl, and a boy named Leo. They both go to Mica High. They also come from completely different worlds! Stargirl is a very unique and unusual girl that does not care what anyone thinks of her. Leo on the other hand is the opposite of that! But what does make Leo so interested and wanting to know more about her? Read the book and find out more!

Summary: stargirl
Review: Stargirl is a wonderfull book that everyone should get a chance to read. It is about a very unique girl who transfers into quiet Mica high school and stunned everyone with her crazy antics, like playing her ukulele in the cafeteria and bringing her pet rat with her everywhere she went. She was instantly a hit with the school and grew very popular, and she even caught the eye of the narrator, 16-year old Leo Borlock. But, her popularity soon diminished. Stargirl was soon shunned for every outburst she would make, and poor Leo was also shunned out because he interacted with Stargirl. The end has an interesting twist to it and you'll never want to put the book down! The part I like best in this book is whenever there was a holiday, Stargirl would put little gift bags with goodies in it that were associated with each holiday on each person's desk, whether they made fun of her or not. I thought that was so sweet and is shows that she did not care what others think of her! There wasn't really anything that i disliked about the book. This book is a great find and everyone of any age would enjoy this book very much!

Summary: One of the Best
Review: Stargirl is one of the few books I have enjoyed. When I read a book it has to be REALLY good or else I will just stop reading it. I recommend this book mostly to girls between the ages of 10 and 15 especially if you were or are the new girl at school. I rated this book a five because it was a sad, romantic, and funny story wrapped all in one package.
This book is about a boy, Leo, who goes to high school in Arizona. He is pretty popular at school and the kids at his school, Mica High, are all the same cookie cutter image of another. Then, on the first day of eleventh grade there was a new girl, Stargirl. She is DIFFERENT, which doesn't help in the friends department. She is all everyone can talk about for the first few months of school.
Then, she got excepted to the cheer leading squad. After, she was the most popular girl in school, but that didn't last long. No one ever went to the basket ball games and the team never one but, when Stargirl became a cheerleader everyone came. She would cheer for both of the teams and at first everyone thought it was funny. But when the team won regionals and was in the play-offs it all went wrong.
It was the second game of the play-offs. Everyone had become mad at Stargirl because of her cheering for the other teams, saying a different pledge to the American flag, and being caring of people that she doesn't even know. At this game she cheered to the Mica High side the whole time because she was aware of there hatered towards her. When they lost everyone blamed it on her.
Read the book to see what happens when Leo is the only one that talks to her and this is because they love each other.
