Review: This book is about a girl named stargirl. She is very strange and weird all the other kids like her a bit in the beginning then she got on this show called the hot seat at her school everyone there started asking her questions about her life and why she was soo weird and goofy but she did not really care. She was a cheerleader at her school when at the championship game of her school she cheered for both teams and everyone got mad at her and suddenly someone through a tomato at her and that's when everything started going down hill. The people that hosted the show hot seat at her school where Kevin and Leo, Leo started falling in love with her and started liking her a lot but once they where together he got ignored and disliked by everyone else but his friend. I liked this book a lot it was really good and fun to read it had some dramatic moments but was real good out of a ten I would rate it a solid 8, I really liked how the author described the characters like "she seemed marooned in the sea of staring, buzzing faces". I would recommend this book to people ages 10-14 its really good book if people like a little of everything like drama suspense this book kind of has it all its also male and females would enjoy reading this book. I really enjoyed reading this book. Michael.E

Summary: What A Great Book!
Review: This book was really great for many reasons. This book is unlike any other book because it shows what really happens in the present day, and so parents and teachers could see what it is like to be a kid our age. It also shows individuality because Stargirl, for example, likes to change her name when she gets tired of it. Leo tries to fit in but he figures out that he really likes Stargirl and Stargirl really likes him too. This book is very fun to read because you never know what will happen next and because there are so many changes in this book. It is also very interesting that Stargirl doesn't care what anyone thinks or says about her, but Leo wants her to be part of the group and be popular. Leo likes Stargirl, but he doesn't like being seen with her because no one will talk to him any more. Leo puts Stargirl on his news show at school called "The Hot Seat", and it turns out to be a very crazy show. This book is great for anyone and any age group. I strongly recommend that you buy this book.

Summary: Making Choices
Review: This book is about a girl and a boy. This girl's real name is Susan Caraway but she refers to herself as Stargirl. She is what most students at Misa High would call "Wierd". This boy's name is Leo Borlock. He also narrates the story. Leo both hates her and loves her at the same time. I like the way the main character in the story (Stargirl) is so different and she does not care what other people think of her. I did not like the way that Leo tried to change the way she acted and the way she was just because she was different and he was ashamed to be with her. This book is fairly easy to understand. I did not have trouble comprehending this story. This would not be a book for teenage boys. This book relates to a very different teenage girl and if you ask me this would be a very good book for a teenage girl.

Summary: StarGirl, a star book.
Review: I first heard about StarGirl about a year ago. I always thought about checking it out from the library or buying it, but for some reason I never did. I came across it at the library one day and decided to get it. From the first page it catches your attention!

Leo Borlock is an average guy, going to an average school, leading an average life and then one name changes his life. "StarGirl". She was unlike everyone else in the school, she was different. At first everyone in the school is a bit afraid of her. Then she became the most popular student, everyone loved her. The way she would sing happy birthday to people, the way she was helped you no matter what. Leo found himself more intrigued by her each day. Then things started to change. People began hating her for the same reasons they loved her. Leo however found himself to really and truly love her. Stargirl showed Leo many different aspects of life; he enjoyed every second of it. Yet, at school it was a different story. People wouldn't even look at him. They considered him going out with Stargirl treason. Leo decides that he should help Stargirl become more "normal" Amazingly she succeeded but still, no one would talk to them. Stargirl goes back to her normal self, and Leo starts to realize he can't have both everyone and Stargirl.

I gave this book 4 stars because it was a terrific book and had a wonderful ending. I really enjoyed it, even though it's out of my normal genre of books.

Summary: YOU HAVE GOT TO READ IT!!
Review: This great book is about a girl named Stargirl, she was home schooled since he was small. Now she decided she wants to go to a regular high school and make some friends. She goes to Mica Area High School, MAHS for short. Everyone in that high school act the same and wear the same style of close. Stargirl is the laugh of school, nobody likes her, everybody thinks she is weird. That was only in the beginning. Couple weeks later she is the most popular girl in school, she even became a cheerleader. One or two months later she goes back to being the most unpopular girl in school. Everyone hates her so much they even gave her the "silent treatment" as the students call it. By that time she had already gotten with Leo, the narrator. When Leo noticed that they had the "silent treatment" he tried to convince her to be like everybody else, " normal" as he would call it, and she listened to him. When she noticed that she still was unpopular she went back to normal.
I think Jerry tried to tell us to act like yourself, don't listen to what other people think of you. As long as you are happy with your self, that is good enough. The good thing about this book was Stargirl. She changed the whole school, "People who never even saw you before are smiling... slapping your back and pumping your hand... you're feeling so good... you... just float on home from school." The one thing I didn't like was that Stargirl in some parts was very unrealistic. "...laughed when there was no joke. She danced when there was no music. She had no friends, yet she was the friendliest person in school." She was just to weird and nice to be true.
About eleven through thirteen year old girls, or any person with about six to eight grade reading abilities would probably want to read this book. People who take what other people think about them to personal, and anyone from any ethnic group would also want to read this book. Read it and find out what happens to Stargirl.

Summary: One of my favourite books!
Review: This book is sure to become an instant favourite with the reader. Told through the eyes of Leo Borlock, it tells of love, courage, and daring to be different.... set in Mica, Arizona.When Stargirl arrives, she is so different, so strange, so....GOOFY, that everybody is amazed. Leo cannot stop thinking about her, and then suddenly the whole is in love with this freckle-nosed home-schooler, but then, it changes. Stargirls popularity vanishes as quickly as it came, just as Leo and Stargirl begin being boyfriend and girlfriend. The whole school shun them, and Leo is forced to choose. Her or them.... There are no heart-stoppingly life changing events in this book, these occur slowly (like in real life) which may put off some action-and-adventure lovers. But if you want a lovely, thought-provoking read, then READ THIS BOOK. The characters are realistic and interesting, and you will laugh and cry by turns. It is the type of thing you can read again and again, a triumph for Jerry Spinelli.

Review: Leo is a guy who is normal. Until a girl comes to school. In home room people are saying "Did you see her?" then Leo sees her. Her name is Stargirl Caraway.She doesn't seem real Hilari thinks she's fake. Stargirl played a ukulele.She didn't carry a lunch tray. she didn't wear make up. She care what other peole thought. She wore a long white dress it looked like her great grandmother's. And Leo might have a crush on her.
Great book, if you like this book you will probaly like "Are you there God it's me Margaret"

Review: This book is a great source of aspiration, understanding, and motivation for teens. I should know, I'm only 14 years old.

Summary: Heart-Wrenching and Beautiful
Review: Stargirl is another example of Spinelli's maturity into one of the finest children's writers in the field. With his characteristic lean prose, he weaves a taut and compelling story that is shattering in its beauty and can leave the reader (this one, anyway) with the uneasy feeling that his life should be less self-involved and more charitable. As cold as Leo seems when Stargirl's popularity vanishes toward the end of the book, I doubt many of us would have behaved differently at that age. Spinelli's teenagers are, without doubt, real--and this sometimes means they act less than noble.

Thank you, Jerry, for giving us this remarkable book. It is not overstating it to say that it changed my life and the way I view others. Stargirl is a tremendous tour de force and a beautiful celebration of the individual in today's society. Maybe someday I will receive a porcupine necktie in the mail.

Summary: Charming....
Review: I have just finished reading the much hyped about 'Stargirl.' However, I was disappointed. There just wasn't enough interactions between characters. I would like to know what the other students say/do to her, especially her only friend after her fall from popularity, Dori Dilson. The tense moments between Stargirl and Hillari Kimble (her arch rival so to speak) are priceless! Jerry Spinelli describes emotions so well that it's atonishing and scary when you realize you had the same feelings but was never able to write it down on paper. After reading this story, you wish you had Stargirl's bravery. The fact she doesn't care or notice the fact she is odd is so fresh. That's why it's so tragic when she tries to be normal. You soon miss the old skirt-wearing, mouse-talkin, rain-dancing Stargirl!
