Rating: Summary: Review of the Stars Review: In one word this book could be summed up, different. Usually you don't think of a fictional book being about a high school student, wanting to be different! It makes you look at life from a different perspective. Stargirl spends her hours making life better for everyone else, never thinking about what people think of her, or what might happen to herself. I enjoyed this book very much. I was something unusual for me to read, and enjoyed challenging my viewpoint. This is a great book for girls to read. I hope you enjoy this book.
Rating: Summary: Stargirl: possibly one of the best books I will ever read Review: Although Stargirl was written for a target audience of young teens, the wonderfully realistic story of life, love, and loss told can capture the hearts of older readers, as well. At the risk of possibly offending some, my only complaint (apart from not being long enough!) is the very small amount of what might be called "new age fluff" present in the book. Other than that, in my opinion, Stargirl is absolutely flawless; reading it left me in tears and simply longing for more.
Rating: Summary: STARGIRL Review: Stargirl was an amazing book. It showed me that you don't have to be "normal" to have fun. She was herself and whoever couldnt or wouldnt realize that was just left behind. Stargirl showed up at a school in arizona for 10th grade after being homeschooled her whole life. She did not cave in to the fads of high school...for a while. Her boyfriend told her that she needed to be normal. The next day, she came to school like any other girl. It broke my heart. This is a fantastic book, you have to read it!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: To Be or Not to Be. Review: I absolutely loved STARGIRL. Once I finished reading it, I almost cried. I wasn't able to stop reading it until I had finished. It's a great story with a good message.STARGIRL is about a girl named Stargirl Carraway who moves into Mica High School and starts a sensation. She dresses in different clothes, plays an ukulele, sings songs to people at lunch, decorates her desk in each class she attends. She is vibrant and full of spirit. The cheerleading squad invites her to join and she soon revives the community spirit of the sleepy town. Nevertheless, Stargirl is a nonconformist. She doesn't fit into anyone else's mold. However, though STARGIRL is about Stargirl, it is not Stargirl's story. STARGIRL is actually the story of Leo Borlock. It is about how he met this girl one day who was unlike anyone else he had ever met in his life. He becomes entranced by her and eventually falls in love with her. However, Leo is a popular student and he eventually has to choose between his love for Stargirl and his love of popularity. This is a great book. It touches upon the ideas of nonconformity, transcendatlism, and first love. The story is quite engaging and should appeal to readers of both genders and all ages. I highly recommend it.
Rating: Summary: an awesome book Review: This book weas so good I cried. I can't urge you enough to read it. If you are looking for something good to read check this out. If I could I would give it 10 stars but I can't so I'll settle for 5. Read it now!
Rating: Summary: Stargirl- Confusin' and Fun at the Same Time! Review: I saw the book stargirl at the library and I thought it would be fun to read. The first page threw me off, because I thought you would be seeing the story at Stargirls point of view, but really ur seeing it at her soon to be friends point of view. I think if the story was written from Stargirls point of view the story would be a lot less confusing. If u've read the book u probably know what I mean. All and All the book was confusing, but that's what made it fun to read. I recommend it if ur someone who is or has been very close to someone who's not afraid to show who they are.
Rating: Summary: Falling Star Review: This was the worst book I have ever read. Not only was there no plot or climax, it was very silly and pointless. Spinelli tried to make this book very moving and inspirational...hmm...maybe that's why it's not an American classic? I have been more inspired by paintings in museums. The main character, Stargirl, was not believable at all. She was very immature for a high schooler and reminded me of a three-year old. Everything she did was random, also. She had her own special place in the Arizona Desert, which was supposed to be meaningful in the story, but it didn't make much sense. She also tried to go do nice things for people, which is sweet, but hard to believe. A friend of mine, who disliked the book also, put it simply: "The whole teenage-insecurities thing." I had to read this book for school, and I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone that doesn't have to read it.
Rating: Summary: Non-conformists rule the world in Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli Review: Stargirl is about a girl who is as strange as they come. The ukelele, the pet rat, and the goofy clothes- it's all to weird for the kids at her new school. Read about her struggle with her new-found friend, Leo, as she finds that when she is herself, she will make an impact because NON-CONFORMISTS RULE THE WORLD!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Unique and Heartwarming Review: This was a fun novel about real school how people are treated and how some act this novel was from an aclaimed young writing author it was fresh and funny about a girl who doesn't seem to fit in at her school it would happen to b because of the large odd instrument she carries around at lunch and sings to people on their birthday with or the outrageous clothes she wears. What will happen to stargirl will she become the most popular girl in school or will she end up in the hot seat?
Rating: Summary: A great story about being yourself.... Review: ... I'm not too big a fan of Jerri Spinelli, but after reading Stargirl my views changed. ... I know from experience that being different is hard to do when your around people who wear the same things, listen to the same music, talk the same way, and all want to be accepted among their peers. I mean who really doesn't care about what other people think? Stargirl thats who. The book is told from the point of view of Leo Borlock a boy who falls in love with Stargirl. Everyone at first loves Stargirl, shes so different: her clothes, her attitude, her questions, her hair, her pet rat Cinnamon, and *gasp* her make-up free face! After a while though, people start resenting her non-comformity. Leo tries to change Stargirl, but he soon realizes that, while he may be happy, Stargirl is miserable. I think Stargirl is someone we all want to be, but we're too afraid to let that part of us show. I loved this book and I highly recommend it to any guy/girl ages 11 and up.
